Adira tilts her head to one side, the jewelry on her horns clinking. "What do you mean the town will be safer for us? What about you all? If it is dangerous, shouldn't we stay and help you?"
Her expression is worried. She's grown very fond of the Vistani over their time travelling together.

Ericina seems to be in heqven as they pass by the trees, muttering to them in druidic as if she expected for them to speak back to her. At one point when they see the raven she waves at it and makes a few bird calling noises. "I knew a raven that looked like that one. I think his name was Malek.... or maybe it was Yosef. No wait Yosef was a crow...." She says to no one in particular, pausing when they are told to go into town. "Don't like towns... to noisy and stuffy. Are there any caves with bats and bears to stay in? I like those."

All around you the fog begins to thicken as a cloud of mist rolls in behind you on the road. As it creeps along the road, it blocks your sight of the path you have traveled. The treeline is first to go as it marches towards your halted caravan. The little grey light that shines through the thick layer of clouds above begins to dim as evening comes.
"Staying is very dangerous for you all. We will be fine; I told you that the Vistani are welcome here, but strangers are not. There are dangers at play that you do not see. Do not worry about us; we will gather you when we are ready to move on. Quickly now, before night falls!"
Ericina grumbles but slowly moves to make her was towards town, her hand moving to drum against the side of her oak staff that served as her arcane focus, the other tapping against the handle of her scimitar. "Come along then we must go before the fog kills us as our friend says."

The journey, Krolbrik had found, was mercifully uneventful for a stretch of two days. They had passed the occasional traveler and huntsman who eyeballed the strange mix of travelers with confusion before moving on, and at night Krolbrik would always take the first watch after the others had set themselves to sleep.
He hoped that his parents and the clan were okay, back in Arglesmere. There had been signs of rain to the south the day previous, and rain tended to draw great crowds to their tavern, the Happy Hag.
But when they reached the bank of mists, the first thing Krolbrik noticed was how un-naturally quiet the entire landscape was. For all the apparent abundance of life, there didn't seem to be a sound but footsteps and wagons passing over the roadway. It unsettled Krolbrik, but he pressed on, keeping his yellow eyes sharp and on the road. The passing through the headless guardian gates didn't do much to assuage his nerves or suspicions, either, as the iron bars creaked open loudly and shut behind them.
The second that he heard the tongue of the unfortunate rear-most vardo break, however, Krolbrik was alert, his left hand resting on the grip of his sheathed longsword. He had seen enough to know that something not right in this land, and he was determined to at least try and find out what, aside from what they had been told. His yellow eyes begin to glow with a white light as the fog began to thicken.*
"I am no stranger in any land!" Bala proclaims, standing his ground to the fog. Then, the fog inches closer...and closer...is someone crying? He squeals, gripping his tail and sprinting in the other direction. "Fine! I'm a stranger!"
Krolbrik, you do not sense any celestials, fiends, or undead within 60 feet of you. For a brief moment as you open your senses, the stench of death overwhelms you. This entire land is desecrated.
Roux follows, checking his various pouches making sure that he has all the components needed to cast the spells he knows. " I agree with the one who is a bit touched. It seems this is our best option"
Allowing the tension to drain out of him but not willing to linger in the fog, the light fades from Krolbrik's eyes as he gives Stanimir one final nod and he turns to follow the others into the relative safety of town.
"Be careful, all of you," He rumbles to the Vistani as he collects his pack from the forward vardo and hangs it on his shoulder. "Thank you for taking us this far. I pray we have not endangered you on our account."
Ericina pauses at what Roux says to her, her eyes training on him in a seemingly serious way. "You sound like some of those strange people I have met since my husband left. Although they stopped since they thought I would make them into plants or at least until I told them I haven't figured out how to accomplish such a feat... yet."

The cobblestone road leads to the village of Barovia, its tall houses dark as tombstones. Nestled among these solemn dwellings are a handful of closed-up shops. Even the tavern is shut tight. As you follow the road into Barovia, you see behind you the fog. It engulfs the wagons and the vistani you left behind and they fade from your vision. As you make progress it creeps along behind you ever so slowly.
A soft whimpering draws your eye toward a pair of children standing in the middle of an otherwise lifeless street.
As you approach, you see the taller one, a young girl around ten years old, is hushing a smaller boy who is holding a stuffed bear close to his chest. After shushing the boy, the girl turns to you all and says, “There’s a monster in our house!” She then points to a tall brick row house that has seen better days. Its windows are dark. It has a gated portico on the ground floor, and the rusty gate is slightly ajar. The houses on either side are abandoned, their windows and doors boarded up.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Krolbrik immediately began to wonder, as they entered Barovia, if leaving the Vistani behind was the right choice. This entire town seemed lifeless.
Why?
And now... children.
This saddened Krolbrik . Two young children, alone, in this dreadful place? It wasn't just strange... it was bizarre.
"Are you two alright?" Krolbrik asked as he approached the pair, studying their faces carefully.* "Isn't it dangerous to be out and about before dusk in this land, little ones?"
Roux walks up to them and crouches to meet their eye level and asks in a soft voice "Are your parents alright? What does this monster look like?" Comcerned that the 'Monster' is in reality someone who bears I'll will toward the two kids and their family.
Adira tilts her head to one side, the jewelry on her horns clinking. "What do you mean the town will be safer for us? What about you all? If it is dangerous, shouldn't we stay and help you?"
