Nothing more to be done Phineas heads back to rejoin Siobhanready to depart... and looks at Dolar, "what are papers of anyway, no sewer maps right?"

After almost being hit in the head by the sandals that looked as though they would have been in style when her father was still a child, Siobhan lpoks ready to yell at Phineas. Surprisingly though she lets out a breath and simply stows the sandals into her pack, burying them underneath a few things so they would not get in her way. "Do not worry. If we somehow get involved in some high society ball I will be able to make sure we fit in."

DOLAR
"If no luck in the crates, come help me in here. I'll admit now -- I'm not very good at this," Dolar says as he moves to rummage through the papers. "I...will try...to find...a map."
He'll look to find anything of interest -- maps, ledgers, letters, formal documents, etc. He'll also take notice of whatever part of the room is noticeably clean and clear of dust. Should there be any more rooms, he'll take his time going through each one with the same intent. Investigation: 5
"Well," Renaer tries to wipes his hands on his already dirty clothes and sighs, "If I remember everything correctly, we were initially attacked by the Zhentarim, and then they were attacked by the Xanathar guild. Zhentarim aren't all bad, but they have an agenda. Xanathar's people however are all honorless thugs, though I believe in this particular case they also... had an agenda."
He turns to look Phineas over, "Unfortunately the Zhents cleared me of anything valuable, but I am a man of my word. I shall at the very least match whatever you are being paid for this job. We can return to my estate if you all wish, though with Floon in the hands of the Xanathar I do worry for his fate."
Dolar:The upper level at the top of the stairs is a balcony that surrounds the interior of the warehouse. Crates are stacked all around it. Across the way from the stairs is an open door
Is there any particular reason they might've been looking for you? I'm worried about two things right now: 1.- If they weren't looking for Floon, what are the chances that he is still alive? 2.- Do you have any beef with any of these gangs? do you know of any other people being kidnapped?
((OCC: I'm thinking that Sylelor is at least a bit aware of the Zentharim's and Xanathar's agenda with her backstory. If that's ok, she would push a bit forward inquiring about the reason they might be going after Ranaer just for his money as he implied with the comment about Floon's garment being more elegant or better))
Phineasrejoins the others and as they talk she amuses herself by trying on and silently admires her nifty pink sandals waiting for the others to decide what to do next...
Dolar: Most of what you find is shipping documentation for shipping in and out of waterdeep. There are some bored doodles on one page of winged snakes and a stick figure with a sword. On one desk you do find a very nice blank piece of parchment, much nicer than anything else you've found thus far, and it's being held flat by makeshift paperweights.
Downstairs: Ranaer takes a moment to find a crate to sit on, once more trying to brush some of the muck off his clothing. "I'm not sure how long they would keep Floon alive if they don't know he's me. It's possible at this point that they could still think he's me. I don't know much about Xanathar thugs, but I know they're not always known for their great intelligence. Then again, neither is Floon.
"As for any beef? No, other than what most people hold against me for being who I am, but that's not strictly kept to any specific factions. I strive to keep myself separate from the things my father has done to this city, and to give back to it as much as I can. But I fear that its my father who may have gotten me into this mess in the first place." He shakes his head, taking a deep breath a scowl forming on his face. "You see, there are people out there who seem to believe that my father embezzled a large sum of money while he was open lord. And he's hidden that money somewhere in this city. That he created some artifact called the 'Stone of Golorr' And they think I might know where it is."
Ranaer scoffs, "Hardly! I wouldn't touch my father's ill begotten money, and I certainly don't know anything about where he hides any of his dirty secrets. I haven't even spoken to him in years. As much as I want to believe my father didn't do something so horrifically awful, I also can't deny the fact that it's more than likely. However either the Zhentarim or the Xanathar guild getting their hands on that money would be terrible. It belongs to the city, and I think should be returned to the city if it is indeed out there."
Sylelor:
Your time in the sewers has put you in many run ins with the Xanathar Guild and it is in fact the Xanathar your father worked for before he disappeared. So you have a lot of experience with them, as almost an auxilary part of the guild, but not really. You know several members of the gang, including at least one who was tasked to look after you when your father would leave on guild business. You yourself don't participate in guild activities, but your life is somewhat adjacent to it.
From that you are aware that tensions between the Xanathar and the Zhents has been escalating lately. And you're also aware that there's been some excitement among guild members that you've seen passing by. Something big is happening. You've heard the words "stone of golorr" mentioned but it never meant anything to you before.

It doesn't take high history check to know one of the biggest scandals in Waterdeep: Dagult Neverember.
Dagult Neverember, father of Ranaer Neverember was the open lord of Waterdeep for some time. The only openly known ruler and the face of the city Dagult was stripped of his power by the other masked lords, and replaced with the current Open Lord: Laeral Silverhand. A lot of rumors flew as to what prompted this sudden change, and a lot of it had to do with the idea that Dagult Neverember wad dirty, dangerous, and using the city to further his own agenda.

Phineasjust half listens to it all, leaving Mallory to keep track of all the boring details and keep it all straight for her. The jester fidgets as she continues to admire her new sandals calling to Dolar, "hey big guy.... be a pal and check that big box of sandals up there and toss me down a black pair of these too will ya... just in case I needs to go formal."
Halfway down the stairs, Dolar will look at where Phineas points, head back up to the balcony, reach inside the box of sandals, and toss her a pair of black ones. He'll then make his way all the way down the stairs and wait for Siobhan to finish her interrogation before showing her what he's found.
"I'll gladly help you find Floon. I feel responsible that he's in this mess in the first place."Raenaer will stand and begin rummaging through the crates of weapons, finding a solid rapier.
As Dolar has come back down stairs and joined everyone else there is a commotion from outside and you hear.
"This is Captain Staget of the City Watch. You'll do well to drop your weapons, and surrender peacefully. We have the place surrounded!"
Then the door busts open, and a grizzled elven man in a Watch uniform followed by at least 6 others in watch uniforms, crossbows at the ready. Raenaer drops the rapier he just picked up with a sigh and puts his hands up, sending an annoyed look to the captain.
Siobhan, you don't know this man personally, but the name Staget is familiar to you as the man who handles many of the Dock Wards Watch business. He's considered a hero to some, and others think he's probably a dirty cop, just like half the dock ward watch.
