"If these shadows serve that same master from before, these people are in danger regardless of our presence. I'm inclined to wait here until the monsters show and then send them back to the Void they crawled out of."
As you attempt to barricade the doors and windows, as well as lighting as many fires as you can (fireplace, and 4 lanterns), the storm gets worse. The wind howls loudly and the rain hammers down on the roof making it hard to hear each other. The lightning strikes get closer and closer to the inn, seemingly coming in a line instead of random like a normal storm.
(Fireplace is in the south, lanterns are near each corner)
Tailine, even from an elevated position it's almost impossible to count the coming creatures. They blend too well into the darkness and the lightning flashes don't last long enough to get a good count. However you'd guess that there are somewhere between 20 and 30 of them.
Suddenly a large lightning bolt strikes the ground a few feet from the entrance to the inn. The impact causes the whole building to shake slightly and the brilliant flash of light blinds anyone looking for a moment.
When your vision returns you see a figure in the exact spot the lightning hit. Their back is to you and they figure is obscured by heavy furs (looks like heavy fur winter clothing). One hand holds a glaive that is crackling with lightning, the other is empty but starting to glow.
As the creatures are mid-leap towards the figure, a stream of magic missiles bursts forwards. The first group of creatures disintegrates into dust after each one takes several hits.
The figure then drops something from the hand that released the missiles, holding the still sparking glaive with both hands. The figure then begins to move and attack with incredible speed and martial efficiency. (very similar to the skill and techniques of Strife, Tailine) Each hit of the glaive sparks with lightning energy, and there are several of them. And yet given all the hits you see land, none of the creatures go down.
The figure drops out of the melee for just a moment, but that moment is enough of a gap. As they throw the glaive into the ground and draw two simple looking battleaxes with ornate-looking blades, a couple of the creatures fly past and through the wall. One looks like gold with an intricate design you can't make out at this distance, and the other looks like black steel with a different but equally intricate design.
The two creatures are slightly North and South of the middle of the room, on the floor. (we'll use the same initiative as last time Violet > Tailine > Estellen > Quilqwen > Jatrin > Creatures)
Positioning, Jatrin, Violet, and Quilqwen are all near the door/windows. Tailine is at the top of the stairs (about 10ft from the main bar area). Estellen is sitting down somewhere nearish the windows to see out of them. Strife is near the bar. (bar is in the N, door is in NW, stairs are next to the bar and door)
(Everyone is full HP except Violet (12/14) and Quilqwen (11/15). The place is currently brightly lit by 5 different sources. Like last time just post your turns in any order, but they'll play out in turn order.)
Calling out again as he had at the beginning of the last battle Quilqwen casts Faerie Fire. Positioning the spell so that a corner of the 20 foot cube catches each creature who are suddenly aglow with a green flame.
Violet releases 3 magical darts at the nearest creature (N), but in contrast to the bright lights created by the figure, these are once again darts of darkness. All 3 darts hit their target easily, although like before it's impossible to tell how much damage you've done to it. (assuming magic missile as it says "tooltip not found")
Tailine rushes down the stairs (assuming you want to do that as otherwise you can't see anything, 10ft of movement) and hastily lets off an arrow. It hits the creature, but only a glancing blow.
Estellen stands up and throws a firebolt at the closest one (S), finding it hard to predict their erratic movements it goes wide, heading towards the NW lantern... 8
Strife vaults the bar, grabbing a handful of knives from underneath it. He throws 2 at the nearest creature (N) 12 : 24 , dealing (if hit) 7 : 7
