You recognize the seal from a small town you stopped at along the way to Dead Wood. You believe it belongs to the family of Lord Westwood. It reads in common as follows:
”To my dearest cousin,
I hope this letter reaches your hunting party successfully as in a chaotic time of war couriers are so unreliable. All fairs well here in Westwood, but father’s health seems to fading. He has been retiring more often and seems sickly.
We have also came to an mutual agreement with the branch and they are now supporting our efforts. If your hunting goes well and you capture the beast, you may get to keep the trophy. The family will be joining you before the fall, to help you take the beast if need be.
Leto will tell to the group "It seems that there may be a beast here in these woods that needs be dealt with. Also, the Lord of Westwood will be changing soon. Though this doesn't explain who attacked the Dead Wood scouts..."
"it doesn't." Leto will reply, showing them the note. "But that wasn't what we were hired for. We can take this back later. Our task is to find the scouts."
As you two are discussing the contents of the letter, the captive starts to stir.
"Ugh my aching head, guess I'm not dead yet then. Hey, you two are recent hires for Lord Fourthkeep! Hurry and cut these ropes, we need to get back to Dead Wood! The rest of the camp is on their way there now to try to take the keep!"
He looks over to the man he's tied up with and starts trying to shoulder him awake.
"C'mon, Bill! Wake up! We need to get moving"
As he is jostling him, Bill's head rolls to the side and you all realize his throat has been slit.
Leto will immediately cut his ropes and say "Welcome back son. What caught you here? We were sent to find you. How many of them are there? And are they headed back to the Keep at this moment?" He'll also signal to the rest of the group to start heading back if so.
Leto and Drack exit the tent, supporting the wounded man inbetween them.
”Bandits! Raiders! Thieves!” The man crows, “Hurry, we have to get back to warn the keep!” He tries to break away from the two and falls into a near by tent. He slowly gets back up using the tent pole as a crutch, “there’s at least a few dozen brigands marching on the keep as we speak, we have to get back!”
With the chest and the injured man, you make your way slowly back towards the keep. You reach the edge of the tree line around dusk to see a warm glow highlighting dark smoke rising from various parts of the hamlet.
As you all rush up to the hamlet, you can make out with better detail random huts and buildings that are burning, and from between the buildings you can catch glimpses of armed men roaming the town.
((I’m assuming you all are staying far enough back to see but not be seen))
Draconovich looks at the villiage with a heavy heart. The loss of life reminding him of other times he had seen similar things. He begins to search for one warrior that may come within 120 feet that also may be slightly separated form the rest of the group with the intention of using chill touch on him to stop his attack while keeping his presence an undetectable as possible

HISTORY: 23 (if he can help here for adv 21)
Leto would also definitely open it, breaking the seal, to see what it says.

Drack ponders this and wonders what kind of beast it could be. "Does it say anything about what kind of beast?"

Following the other two Gnash carries the chest out of the tent.
"We better get moving then. We'll go back the way we came cause we didn't so no one on our way here. That path must be clear."
Hansel nods and draws his sword. "The more the merrier I suppose." He begins to walk back toward the keep.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Draconovich helps the struggling man to walk as they head back, Sending a mental order to his familiar to scout out ahead for any potential threats.

Hansel sighs. "Seriously?" and rushes to the hamlet.

Gnash, still carrying the chest, moves closer to the hamlet so that they can see what is going on.
As you all rush up to the hamlet, you can make out with better detail random huts and buildings that are burning, and from between the buildings you can catch glimpses of armed men roaming the town.

(I can't speak for the rest of the group, but I figure we would be far enough back to not be seen ... at least for the moment)
Hansel is going to keep his distance, but search for any survivors - preferably survivors who won't try and stab him.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
