"True of course. But I'm thinking that they perhaps don't usually travel or attack in such a large party. Instead spreading their forces out to have more opportunity for plunder. Attacking a smaller group would clearly increase our odds."
Landrae leans over to Duncan and Elber, "I fancy not odds of 4 to 1 against in a straight up fight, no matter how much faith I have in you boys. I prefer Elber's suggestion of employing a little stealth, for what it's worth. Though I would like to hear more from Ardidd before we spend too much time on the matter. We are in no rush, should think about using the time to investigate other opportunities that might coincide with our current goals... And whilst I tend to that business, my first goal is to put a dent in my purse with some more ale. The next round is mine for those inclined..."
Landrae strolls over the bar to order drinks. When there she looks around for the men Duncan marked earlier, the thin human with a wide-brimmed hat and stained clothes, a halfling with spectacles and straight blonde hair, and an elf with curly blonde hair and hazel eyes. If they are still within the Bloody Thorn, then Landrae will walk over to the closest and introduce herself.
"Stealth certainly has it's uses. I just like to even the numbers before we even approach. Also, I'm not the most stealthy on the battlefield. My armor is made of links of chain after all. And thanks for the round!"
Duncan will keep an eye on Landrae and whomever she approaches, but is more focused on the thought of an upcoming fight, and not being the most social will stay at the table for now. He'd also still like to hear from Elron concerning the nature of Elron's encounter with The Scorpion.
"Duncan is right on the nail. A score of men is many for simple highway robbery, so scouting or even working multiple fronts until they score a valuable mark is sensible. We'd do something similar in my old company... but on the proper side of the law."
(High stakes game, who will end up with the one silver? 11)
Elron takes another swig from the unoccupied mug. "It was twilight near on three days ago when the Scorpion ambushed me and a companion on the Grey Trail. First came the arrows." Elron pauses and ahudders. " One of them hit my friend in the ear. I will never forget his dying scream. " He swallows some ale to recollect his thoughts. "Then the Scorpion came, flanked by four of his henchmen. They took my cart and ordered me to continue to Thithladroth, and to tell Lady Ardidd to - I will not use his vulgar term in decent company. He ordered me to tell Lady Ardidd that he dares her to send a party to apprehend him."
"Quite the tale my dear elf. I can see the fear it left in you." Does this seem like the full story? INSIGHT5
To Elber (and others of the group still at the table): "A small raiding group is what I expected. Though it seems that this Scorpion has some personal vendetta against the Lady Ardidd. We must try to find out why. His motivations seem more than simply loot."
Back to the elf: "Revenge and gold are fine motivators for you to share this tale with us. Though if you'd like to be noted as having helped with his capture, perhaps you actually could assist us. If not with strength on the field, do you have any potions that would help those of us who will be there to face him?"PERSUASION14 ((I'm not good at Persuasion... anyone wanna 'help' here? :P))
Elber accepts the coin and flips it into his pouch. "Eh, this is likely the same silver piece you won off me the other night." He looks around the room to see where Landrae went off to before continuing. "Elron, do you have reason to think the lady will meet us immediately upon her return, or do you need to arrange for a proper meeting? I expect she'll insist we wait until tomorrow so we don't see her noble visage being dusty and weary from her journey. Landrae can be a bit like that, and she's not even properly noble."
((14 in Persuasion is plenty good. Maybe not with Elron though, he doesn't seem to volunteer help easily.))
Landrae remains at the bar, still looking for the other individuals noted earlier, or any other folk that may have since entered that stand out a bit from the crowd.

This being Kai's first venture outside the peaceful valley of his birth, he is silently horrified at the way people treat each other. But a little voice keeps telling him something is wrong, the whole story is not being revealed.
Others have revealed untruths in the story, and while he quietly waits, he carefully examines the others within the common room. Are others interested in what is occurring? Surely such a large band of "bandits" would want to have eyes and ears within the town to warn of potential targets. <perception 12>
Elron rummages in his ample cloak for a moment before withdrawing a potion filled with a red liquid. "Take this potion of healing." He offers. " You will have need of it. " (The item is a [Tooltip Not Found])
Landrae, you catch the eye of the peasant in the wide-brimmed hat but he quickly turns away. The halfling is engaged in a game of cards, and a few of the other patrons are gathered around the hearth, listening to a tall dwarf with wild eyes and a dragonscale cloak gesturing as he tells a tale.
Duncan pockets the Potion of Healing"Your help is appreciated Elron. Now we need only wait to hear what more the Lady can tell us."
((@ JJ: Do potions take a full action to give or to quaff for you?))
((@ Twoo: Are you planning to be more melee or ranged? This potion might be better in your hands if melee. My AC is a bit higher than yours... though you do get dmg reduction with rage...))
<<@ Kasian OOC - Sorry to hear that, hope they get better soon. My brood are just getting over a bug as well.>>
Musing to herself - "Nice hat, but he's probably intimidated by my good looks; that game of cards might be a good way for Duncan or Elber to start a conversation with the halfling; but if a tale is being told, then I simply can't let that opportunity pass me by... When we have what information we can garner from Elron, I'd like to see what else we can rustle up from this tavern."
Landrae will purchase two more drinks, one for herself and one for the dwarf, she'll wander towards the dwarf, catching Jack's ear and passing on her thoughts, as Elber and Duncan seem engaged with Elron. Landrae continues over to the hearth feigning an ever so slight wobble as if taken by a shade to much ale, and listen to the rest of the dwarf's tale. Her thoughts towards catching his attention at the end of the telling, and then invite the dwarf for a drink at a table as close to the party as she can sit, without directly inviting him to the same table as Elron.

Jack still nursing his drink hears Landrae’s intentions and picks up his mug and starts over towards a table that is free. “I will make sure she doesn’t find herself too much trouble to get into boys. Why don’t you finish setting up our meeting tomorrow with Elrond” He stops, comes back and grabs another piece of cheese and winks at Duncan, “Why don’t you see if our benefactor here can put us up for the night, preferably somewhere with a door. It would be better for everyone if we are well rested for tomorrow.” He stops and gives a smile to Elrond “Not a bad gesture for someone asking us to risk our lives, aye?”
He walk over to an empty table near Landrae, preferably within earshot. “Lan!” Gestures at the table, and sits. While waiting for her to join he tries to listen in on the dwarf’s story while seeming interested in his drink.
"I swear by it!" The dwarf is shouting as he gestures wildly, "It was an oozing, loathsome monstrosity, and it came crawling out of Fosa's damned laboratory!" One of the patrons, the blonde-haired elf in riding boots that Duncan noted earlier, snorts in derision.
As Jack leaves the table, Elber shakes his head and turns to Elron. "Good gesture or not, expenses aren't part of the deal. I'll hear your recommendations, but we pay for our stay."
