Jackson looks around, having not even noticed the dwarf and his protector slip out of the tavern. "Getting old I suppose."
He then looks over the map, and his eyes widen. "Tyr's beard! I'm certain no one in this party will object to having an old man take a seat in the cart. I will sit up in the front with Nil and keep him company. Whomever is the last one out, be sure to take the map!"
Jackson the barges out of the tavern before anyone has the chance to object. On his way out, he yells to the blacksmith's apprentice, "Come young man. Direct me to the cart. And allow me to tell you the stories of the great Tyr and his mighty deeds!"
you notice a few things about Koren apart from her small size for a dragonborn of her descent , she is wearing a long white dress which is more ghostly than real she seems to glide not walk, her entire body seems almost unreal it shimmers almost like water. You start to think, this is no ordinary spell caster, this is no wizard or sorcerer.
OOC: this is a reply to Harukai's insight check on koren sorry for the late reply to that
Jackson strides confidently alongside the blacksmith's apprentice. He does, however, hear Nil's remark on the way out, quickly abandoning his stride for a much slower, hunched over walk. He even tries to feign a slight limp in his right leg.

(OOC: Lol. I'll wait for everyone else to catch up before posting again.)
The group finds the wagon waiting for them, already hitched to the two oxen. As Nilparin guides the cart down the streets, with Jackson sitting beside and the rest of the party walking along side, Neverwinter slowly fades behind them as they travel south on the highroad.
You’ve spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you’ve just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You’ve encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.
The past few days have been a welcome relief from the quiet scribal room of the temple for Harukai, the fresh air and light exercise was invigorating! Even better, in his limited time out of the temple, he hadn't seriously offended anyone (other than that Celestial speech incident)--not that he means to, but people outside of the cloister are so different to have to deal with! At least Brother Greystone is here as a touchstone--although his attempts to feign infirmity are somewhat incomprehensible. No matter.
But with the turn off the main road onto the trail, Harukai seems more unsettled--less traffic, undergrowth and trees closer to the path, and rumors of bandits in the shadows. He would have to be more vigilant as they progressed.
Moving over to speak with Koren, Harukai offers, "I have often tried to move with such fluid grace as you possess. How is it you accomplish such elegance as you move?"

Ever watchful, Jackson eyes remain vigilant, keeping a look out from his risen position on the cart. He continues to keep an eye out as he answers Nil, saying, "The story of how I met the dwarf that hired us...is immaterial, but he is an old friend. When he came asking, I answered. Besides, I'm due for a vacation of sorts. The dwarf is much more cautious than I, and I highly doubt any one in their right mind would try to steal this cart with all of us guarding the cargo."
He continues scanning the surrounding area, but takes a moment to look at Nil. "What of you? As much as I appreciate your company, what are your reasons to be traveling with us?"
"That's a bit complicated I barely know the dwarf I simply met him in a tavern one day he was looking for some help delivering some supplies and I thought it would be an easy way to make some gold and possibly some friends." Nil looks over his shoulder before leaning closer to Jackson "But between you and me I want to find a hero to write songs about who knows maybe I'll find them in this group"
You’ve been on the Triboar Trail for about half a day. As you come around a bend, Jackson is the first to spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. The horses lay where the path narrows and the forest looms close.
"Stop the cart, Nil. I see something," Jackson says, spotting two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead, blocking the path.
He steps off the cart. "Everyone at arms. Stay vigilant. Be alert. We may not be alone. Nil, keep the reins and bring the cart up another twenty feet. I will follow along and watch the right flank. Harukai, see to the rear. Koren, you have the left."
He then turns to Nephrius. "My Tabaxi friend, could you manage to quietly scout ahead and see to the condition of the horses. Whatever you find could be of great use. Let us know if it is safe to traverse the bottleneck."
Jackson retrieves his shield and Warhammer off the cart and assumes a battle-ready stance.
Nil picks up the reins slowly moving the cart forwards roughly 20 feet before stopping the oxen and grabbing his sword frog, dagger and horn "What do you think bandits?"
Harukai quietly slides in behind the wagon as it slowly creaks forward a dozen paces. He draws a small, sharp dart from an inside pocket and surveys the entire scene as it unfolds before him. First to the left, then to the right, and then a slow pivot to see if anyone trails them from behind, Harukai strains to see movement along the path or in the cover on either side of the road.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nephrius looks at Jackson with straight eyes and nods, she gets low to the ground and against the raised edges sticking to the side hidden by the shadows most. Looking for any sign of movement from the horse's or around her moving up slowly.

OOC. Harukai probably noticed that Nephrius was very quiet during travel but still listening carefully, but when Jackson called her saying "Tabaxi" she smiled almost enjoying it.
The cart is currently about 30 feet from the horses. Jackson has pulled his weapons and is battle ready, standing in front of the cart Nilparin has pulled his weapons and is beside the cart Harukai has pulled his weapons and is behind the cart Nephrius has went stealth in the shadows the southern hillside. The combination of hillside and forest is blocking a portion of the sun and she has completely disappeared into part of the brush, looking toward the horses and bottleneck.
Koren, roll perception and let me know where you are during this.
OOC: That is correct for Harukai. He typically walks along with his walking stick, so he now has a dart in one hand and his staff in the other. He is primarily trying to make sure that no one is sneaking up on them from behind while the others investigate the horses, but he is trying to watch the whole situation unfold as well.

OOC: I will probably miss a lot of things in this campaign because of the time difference between Australia and America
All you can gather from Nilparin is that he seems to look over his shoulder more than most people should.
