On the east end of the pit, a rope climbs up to a short hallway with another hallway leading to the left and the path ahead leading to an open chamber.
Coming into the open cavern you see what was actually the original entrance to Wave Echo Cave. Many tunnels intersect at this natural, thirty-foot-high cavern. The walls are carved with simple reliefs showing dwarf and gnome miners hard at work. Below them, nearly two dozen skeletons in rusted scraps of armor are scattered across the cavern floor. Some are dwarf skeletons, while others are orc remains. Half a dozen large brass lanterns stand in niches or on ledges around the cavern, but none are lit.
Is Nil alone or the others following closer behind?
Harukai is waiting at the bottom of the original pit where the rope led down, with his Moonsword out. If he hears the “All Clear” from Nilparin (or obvious sounds of distress), he will advance as proper, but once Nilparin went out of the sword’s circle of light, he has no idea where his stealthy friend is...

Consulting with the others while hearing Nilparin’s report and looking at the map over Jackson’s shoulder, Harukai offers, “Perhaps we should advance to that room you just scouted, Nilparin. The next two chambers appear to be that large cavern in the center through the north exit and another chamber through the east exit. Which way should we go?”
Walking through the large cavern where the skeletal remains lie, you suddenly hear a flapping sound. 6 bat like creatures descend from the ceiling, attacking the group.
Dropping the Moonsword to the ground in the middle of the group, Harukai shifts to a two-handed grip on one end of the staff, hopefully giving him the range to strike at the nearest stirge:
Two-Handed Staff of Striking Attack: Attack: 13 Damage: 14
He then pivots, planting one end of the staff on the ground and levering himself up for a pole-vault-style high kick!
Unarmed Strike: Attack: 20 Damage: 8

Jackson protectively raises his shield up and gets his sword ready for an attack, then casts Toll the Dead on whichever stirge doesn't get hit by Harukai and is within range.
DC 14 WisST or 2 necrotic damage
OR IF DM RULES JACKSON IS ABLE TO JUMP UP HIGH ENOUGH:
Jackson will run and jump up into the air, pointing his sword at the stirges. He casts Word of Radiance -- DC 14 ConST or 5 radiant damage
Harukai swings his staff, but just misses the first stirge. His flying kick connects and easily kills one who falls from the air and lands on the ground with a resounding thump.
Jackson can do either. The toll the dead will be enough to take one out if it connects.
OOC: Still need to decide if we are headed to the east or the northwest...

Nil would've checked straight east since he can be within eyesight and earshot

Nil whispers "There must have been some battle here..." Nil will then head back to the party seeing no danger as of yet.
