OOC: Ok, so we are at a river and there is a path to get across the river, is this like a bridge, or just a low point in the river? If it is a structure I would like to roll to see if I think the structure is sound, not sure what attribute (skill) you would like me to use for that if it is the case. Thanks Filcat!
OOC (Sure. I know that sometimes my description are not that accurate. When you feel that a check seems appropriate, do it, then I'll see if the outcome is significant or not)
[The pass is a low-point in the river made of stones. It seems quite secure to walk on.]
Krisnen looks at the path of stones, "If any of you aren't sure of foot it might be best we tie off before attempting to cross, it looks stable, but heat twice strike once as I always say"
Enog Stormbringer wades out into the river then stoops to drink from the cool water. He takes one long draught after another before finally dunking his whole head in. "Aye friends that is cold and refreshing!"

Con save: 11. Okay so since I didn't know how to do the die roll thing I now ended up with an message about manipulating the die roll thing, anyways, I think I got it figured out. You can take the one above or I can roll a new save, I don't care. Also, why was I on the boat? And do we know we are four days travel from Callidyr? And do we know if that is at slow, normal, or fast pace? Also what do I know about Callidyr?
Oh and I forgot the personality, ideal, bond & flaw, so:
No one can doubt I am a cut above the masses & The common folk love me for my kindness & generosity.
Ideal - Noble Obligation - My duty to watch out for those who are beneath me.
Bond - I want to be a seen as a hero of the common folk
I secretly (or not so secretly) believe that everyone is beneath me.
here the answer to your questions: here there is the adventure hook, with the motivation of your journey. Two of you made a perception skill and spot the Fairhegight Mountains. You know that Caer Callydir is the main city in Alaron and the residence of the HIgh King Kendrick. For more information, you should do a History check. A pace is not being specified, so I assumed was normal pace)

"While the party approches the river bank, the adventures hear a battle cry, similar to a frog's croak. Indeed, two frog-like creatures, approximately the size of a gnome and green-skinned, come out of the water and attack the party"
[Time for battle, please roll initiative. Since you all notice at least one enemy, you are not surprised]

Enog shakes his head flinging water everywhere, when he opens his eyes he notices the frog creatures "Well well, what have we here?! Would you have us join you in the glorious tempest of battle little ones?!" Stormbringer hefts his hammer. "Well met!"

Krisnen snatches up his mace into his hand and takes his stance, lowering his center of gravity and balling his offhand into a fist, "The time is now friends, Strike while the metal is hot!"
OOC: I intend to move and strike at the the nearest creature on my turn with my mace and using martial arts to do a secondary strike with my fist, assuming I can reach them with my 25 speed. I have included statistics below for ease of access.

OOC: Thanks filcat, just wanted to make sure everything was documented so you weren't waiting on additional info before moving us forward. Our friendly neighborhood moderator Subsist rolled my post back so as to remove that nasty anti cheating message. My original intention was to add the roll for my critical that had happened so I will include that here and add it as a potential during future rounds of combat.
Fergus looks at the pair of frog like creatures and quickly moves to a fallen log, large boulder, or tree stump that he can lean against until the others have frightened off the local wildlife.
OOC: Since I despise die rolls I will forego trying to know what I know and forget about the History check.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
As for me, I choose to believe that an extinct thunder lizard is running a game of Dungeons & Dragons via Twitter!
OOG ( Regarding skills check, guys are you free, make the check ( any check) when you feel appropriate. You can choose to do all the skill checks when I describe an area or none of them. Auberginian if you want to take initiative 1 it is also fine, but to sit on the boulder you have to wait your turn )
OOC (No there is not separate thread for out of game. And there is no formula for text either, just specify OOG when you want to ask something)

OOC: Why do you despise rolls? Just curious
ooc: @auberginian does that mean you're not going to roll initiative? ...because I'm pretty sure that's what filcat is waiting for.
I am pretty sure I don't need an initiative to sit on a stump. But if it makes every one happy I will take a 1 as my initiative.
And I view die rolls as a necessary evil of RPGs but they should be used only when absolutely necessary.

OOC: You must have really hated reading my post Auberginian, I apologize. I really don't mind dice rolls.
That being said, I hope you enjoy your stump time :)
