After defeating the bugbears and rested a bit the party move southward. Or, at least, what it seems south. Difficult to say in this forest. In the late afternoon, they come into a clearing.
[Everyone, or the party member assigned as navigator, make a Perception or Investigation check.]
Enog notices something something off in the terrain 20 feet in front of the party. It seems a rudimentary trap, a pit. There is no sign of other creature nearby.
Stormbringer walks carefully over and investigates the trap for clues about who might of made it.
Enog walks over the pit, there is a dead man on the bottom. The trap itself is rudimentary and you have seen the presence of goblonids in the part of the forest. Likely, this has been made by those creature.
The corpse does not smell good and bugs are around. The emblem of the Callidyr Militia is visible on the armor (leather armor). He had with him a shortbow, a quiver with 20 arrows, a shortsword, and a nice dagger.

Stormbringer hauls the body up and begins to examine it closely. He removes the emblem of the Callidyr Militia as well as the quiver and the dagger. tucking each away on his person as he works.
ooc: is there anything to further identify the corpse beyond the emblem, dog tags etc?
The half orc, after learning all he can from the body removes the bow and short sword carefully composes the body and lowers it carefully back into the pit.
ooc: if the dirt that was excavated to create the pit is at hand Enog will use it to fill in the pit and bury the body. If not he will use the shortsword to dig away the earth surrounding the pit to fill it in. (I realize this will create sort of a crater.)
After he has finished interring the body he uses the short sword to hack the short bow in two and then the bowstring to lash the two halves into a rough "X" which he plants upright into the ground over the body.
The big half orc shrugs as he lets a casual grin slide across his face, "It serves more than just the purpose of a respectful burial for a member of the Callidyr Militia... It also has the added benefit of shutting down this particular goblin trap." Stormbringer pauses thoughtfully as he dusts off his hands and then his vestments before continuing, "A bugbear patrol, a goblin pit trap, lets pray we don't come across any hobgoblins, or else we'll know that there's a much bigger problem out here in the wood than we thought."
The adventurer notices two dark figures in hiding beyond the trees 50 feet ahead. They understand they have been noticed and prepare to attack, in thei all-white eyes the joy of a killing.
"Whenever anyone is ready lets move out."

It is Enog's understanding that the poor man died 3-5 days ago.
OOG no, there are no other distinctive features.

Krisnen stood by as Enog finished with his interment of the body. "Awfully nice for a fella you didn't know Enog" he says with a friendly smile.
