Then he will bring whoever back and start looking for the girl.

Diadochi looks crestfallen hearing Cora's response. Before he can comment though Sim comes in with his update.
Diadochi nods, "Alul was talking about recruiting someone last night, Orta was adamantly against it. I bet the Jacobsen girl is related. We should definitely find her and help."
Slightly more composed but keenly aware of her current predicament a second bolt sears through the chill mountain air towards the swooping beast, almost appearing to track it slightly....
Lafetha decides to go with Sim. "I think I would be more help to you than here. I'm not really sure how we are going to get the information that we need."
The creature turns around, about to come by on another attack as the bolt strikes it. The radiant bolt streaking through it's iron feathers as it falls back towards it's nest. The large stag-headed bird crashing into the side of a cliff and coming tumbling down. A few loose stones falling with it as it comes down towards you.
(You can attempt a athletics check of DC 12 to hold on to the side, failure and you fall... A DC 15 acrobatics check to dodge the tumbling bird and rocks, failure and you may get trapped and pinned up on here... A DC 13 STR save to just take the hit, failure is being knocked down and off the side. Or scramble back down as fast as possible, which you can just do but may not be able to get back up here after)

Cora gives a bit of a huff and a sigh. "Very well. I'll be here. Come get me if you need me, but I'd rather not show my face to your friends in the camp until we absolutely need it. Just in case."
Sim, Diadochi, Lafetha (& Abigail if she wants to go) head out and back to the outskirts of town. You know Sora is back at the camp, but including her on your searching may bring a unknown factor with her being set on killing the child.
(You can begin your search at camp, but it'll be suspicious to not bring Sora along. Or you can pick the outskirts. Or somewhere in town (around the Inn. Around the Mayors. Around Orta's. Around the Cave.) Regardless, everyone can roll either Investigation, or Survival. Going to say no advantage / assisting, so everyone will have to make a roll / can split up to make rolls at different locations. Still counts as mountain terrain.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yaalin sees the body falling toward her and no real space on the ledge clamping her jaw, she digs her claws into the rocks and prays it is enough to hold.
Diadochi uses his hand to block the sun from his eyes as they leave, "we might have to kill her, which would be unfortunate..." Diadochi shakes memories from his head before they can fully form, "if we find her first, what can we do? Alul is familiar with the curse so he might be able help her get a handle on what she's going through, and it would give us some social currency with him. However, we give Alul an ally in his campaign."
"I think it be easier to find the trail if we go to the camp, but I'd prefer if we don't play our hand until we have to." Diadochi will help search wherever Sim tells him ((around the cave)).
"Well, unless you have something you would rather me be doing, I think I am going to getting some food to take with me to stake out Orta's place. Having the whole town against us would be very unwise at this point, so I might as well see if I can figure a way around our stale mate with Orta while the rest of the party is out hunting. We certainly will not be getting anywhere with Blackmire until that issues has been resolved. I would like to keep 'dealing' with the mayor as a last possible option."
Abigail will get some food and head out to Orta's. Once nearby, she will find a place to hopefully stay hidden ((or just stand halfway behind a tree if full view)) while also observing the area. Who knows, maybe she will observe something that might give her some additional insight on how to negotiate with her, or see Alul come out so she can speak with him.
On the outskirts of town, the thick mud from the rains the other day do show that sometimes came this way. Heading from camp towards town, but it's impossible to make out what.
Sim & Diadochi:
Heading over to the caves, there are several children roaming around playing games. Some drawing figures in the mud and creating stories. Others a few games of keep away. None seem to know about a creature, beast, cat, or monster. Some of the children point to Diadochi with a giggle saying that he's a monster, never having been around a Loxodon before and still finding him strange. There are quite a few trails, but the area is well traveled. You don't believe that any sort of animal has been here in the past two or three days, however.
Abigail:
You take a spot to watch Orta's hut. Hearing the faint yells of kids in the distance that echos from the cave. The smells are somewhat... homey for a pirate. The bitter scent of the lacquer tree's sap being processed bringing about memories of being on a boat. Needing to repair and seal a crack along the hull. Orta herself eventually comes out, seeing you standing there. Her wicker mask wiggling a bit on her face as the matted gray hair spills about in front. Pale arms make a rude gesture to you, as she heads around. Long fingers reaching into the mud and muck, pulling out some green spotted mushrooms. "Don't step on the blue ones," she mutters over to you. Physically moving you out of the way as she bends over further to gather the fungus. While she grumbles and talks to herself in whatever language it is she speaks, you do faintly here two other voices from her hut. One male. One female. But they're far too faint to make out words. Just the sounds of some kind of conversation.
Yaalin:
You dive and slide along the surface. Claws digging in. A hand moving to use some of the climbing gear as you hold on to the ledge of that long fall. The beast collides, and rolls. It's carcass falling past you and landing below with a resounding thud. A few rocks follow, pelting your shell but bouncing off. Flexing, you manage to pull yourself back up. The nest mostly ruined, but could be repaired depending on if it has a mate or not. Looking around you don't see any shadows, or other things in the air. For the moment, it's calm.
Corpses of those not so lucky litter the nest, all with their chest cavity burst open and hearts removed. Through the pockets, you do manage to find a handful of useful trinkets and items. (30 silver, 7 arrows, a arrow with a faint glow to it, a bag of assorted spices worth 25 gp)
Diadochi forgets himself for a second, gives a wooden figurine of a tabaxi to one of the kids that approched him 13 and is about to regal them about this tabaxi, who was a terror of the seas before betrayal, and her vow for revenge, but then looks at Sim, "sorry, got carried away. I dare say we've reached a dead end at this point. If we waste too much time Sora will go on with out us and we'll be behind. We could go back to camp and either lead Sora astray, or we could go with her and then intervene. The other idea is we know Alul wants to find her also and we know he was at Orta's house, bit of a leap but if we go to Orta's and track him we might find her. It's too much of a gamble when time is of the essence, we might need to split up to hedge the bets as it were."
Stretching her shoulder muscles after the strain of getting out of the way, Yaalin goes over the bodies fairly quickly, shutting eyes (when the have them) and muttering a quick prayer to the ancestors over each one. then she will look around to see if there is evidence of a mate/second beast and to see if there is a way forward now that she is up higher with a better vantage point.

Seeing Orta just come out to her, Abigail rolls her eyes at her own incompetence.
"Orta, we are having difficulties killing the leader of the Hn'ti. We barely made it out alive last time. Do you think Alul would be willing to help us? If so, is he here and can I go talk with him? I am not here for the were-girl, if she is in there. Your key appears to be our last option, and we cannot fulfill your request without help."
If she says it is okay, Abigail will attempt to go in an talk to Alul.
Abigail... Orta grumbles a bit, looking under where Abigail was standing.
"I don't care," she waives off Abigail with a flick of the wrist. "I don't have time for failures," she says in a bit louder of a voice. Making sure that whoever was inside her hut could hear. That eye darting over to Abigail for a second. "And I don't suffer thieves so no funny business or I'll have a new rug."
Yaalin... You collect what you can and pray over the remains. It doesn't appear that this peryton has a mate, or at least one that returns through the night. You're able to get some rest, recovering what you spend as you eat some rations and get some water.
(Day 2) You continue on your journey. Continuing your climb up into the mountains. Outside some birds, and a wandering goat, nothing of note happens.
(Day 3) You wake up, heading out. Moving past some newfound streams before you begin the heavier ascending. Bits of vegatation becoming more scarce as you slowly get to the area where the air begins to thin. As you set up for the night, the particular route you're on doesn't feel entirely familiar. Still, you can't be that lost. Looking over and seeing the landmarks that guided you before.
Orta's door is rather heavy. Both stuck on the mud, and made of what feels like a heavy metal despite being wood. Inside, the musky smells and humidity hit you strong. Runes carved along the tree. Random odds and ends scattered about seemingly without a care. Jars with beetles. A seemingly blinking eye attached to a frog that jumps around. A large pot full of bones that are some kind of large animal, or good sized person....
The room itself is somewhat circular. Around the corner you hear the voices a bit stronger. On a small section that isn't the dirt floor you see a scared, crying girl. Mr. Jacobsen's daughter. A simple blanket wrapped around her while her clothing seems tattered. Still bloody from the night before. Her face in some kind of shock while, sitting across from her, Alul. His large muscular mountain lion body before her. He seems to be trying to guide her through some kind of meditative exercise and breathing. Along his ankles and shins, you notice fresh burn marks. Something having burned through the fur and straight to the flesh.
“It looks like he will physically be okay after a while, mentally may take longer. Take care of him Eshe and his boy. We will go look for the girl and bring her back to be laid to rest. I’m going to go round up the others and fill them in. Bring back some help. Be back soon then we can head out.”
