Setup: Two archers still stand. Zealot is busy fighting Alul, raging and recklessly striking. (Advantage - all). Abigail is engaged with Zealot. Diadochi and Yaalin are about 7 feet away from Zealot and Alul’s melee. Sim and Lafetha are both 30 feet from it, in some of the ruins.
Summary: Diadochi moves to Zealot, but Zealot's raging form moves just enough out of the way to cause the attack to go wide. Yaalin moves in, raking her claws against him (4, resisted 2) while Abigail continues her own attacks (16, resisted 8). The archers take shots at both Lafetha and Abigail, but miss. Lafetha tosses a stone at one of the archers (5), leaving a gap for Sim to shoot and kill the archer. Zealot's claws dig into Alul (8 + 7 Necrotic), before swiping at Abigail briefly (5). Alul massive blade swooshes down at Zealot, (21, Resist, 10).
Setup: A single archer still stands on the rooftops, seemingly determined to stop you at all costs. As does Zealot, who still stands in a blinding rage, despite the serious and critical injuries across his body. Zealot is still recklessly striking (advantage all)
(To melee a archer, it's moving, then a DC 10 STR / Athletics roll. If you miss it, you don't climb up. Ring of jumping either gives advantage, or if you can clear it, no roll required)
Yaalin watches the Zealot fall to Diadochi's Warhammer and turns to extend a hand as a navy blue/black bolt streaks from her hand at the remaining archer...
Summary: Diadochi swings at Zealot, cracking against his skull. The figure shifting out as blood comes from his mouth and ears. Yaalin fires off a guiding bolt, the last archer bursting into light and falling over; skin burned and dead.
Those not yet acclimated still pant a little bit, but still have air in their lungs as the adrenaline fades. Alul looks down at Zealot who transforms back into his regular self. He stabs his sword through his chest, leaving it there as he turns to look over at the rest of the group.
"You all fight well. And a promise is a promise." Alul's body changes before your eyes. His bones and face morphing and twisting. Paw-like hands turning into paws. Tail becoming longer, and face becoming that of a mountain lions. That same mountain lion that was stalking you before looks at you all, before gesturing with his head to follow. He leads you through the winding paths of the ruins. Double checking around corners that are probably some kind of patrol route. Yet you don't find anyone. They're either all dead... or have run off to wait for reinforcements from the signal fire.
Eventually you reach the stairs that ascend into the clouds. Alul's body once again taking on his tabaxi-like-body. "The stairs. I suggest you start climbing now, instead of waiting and resting. Others are coming. Just what they do not expect is me to be here." A few cuts and necrotic burns still linger on him from the zealot's attacks.
He puts a paw out to Diadochi, in the form of a handshake. His other hand, mist once again forms. His blade returning to his grasp despite having left it elsewhere. "Keep them safe, warrior." He then looks over to Abigail. "And you should come find me when you're done with all this."
The stairs themselves look difficult. The stairs having been ravished by time, war, and the elements. (STR / Athletics DC 15. If you have a climbing speed: advantage on the roll. Potion of climb gives a climbing speed as well. Failure means a CON Save vs DC 15 Exhaustion - advantage if acclimated)
Yaalin scoops up the Silver gauntlets slipping them on and flexing her claws against the metal, following Alul to the base of the stairs she gazes with dismay up at them, then down at her short legs ill-suited to climbing then back up at the stairs.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Diadochi breaks the spears sticks the spear heads in the ground (if the terrain allows) if no one wants the short bows he breaks them as well ((I assume Sim takes the arrows and Yaalin takes the gauntlet, if not he takes those))
When Alul speaks to Diadochi he nods and says "I can't wish you luck on your endeavors, but I do want you to live the life that was denied you all these years."
Diadochi starts making his way up the stairs "You know I spent a great several years in the upper mountains with my Aunt Pontus. I learned to Climb with her childern, Pella and Euxinus by watching the mountain goats up there."
Abigail grabs one of the short bows, four bone-arrows, and four silver-arrows.
Hearing Alul's invitation, Abigail's tail slowly curls up and she smiles. "You can count on it. Take care of yourself, and thank you again for all your assistance."
Yaalin grabs hold of the giant-lizard-Lafetha and scrunches her eyes shut, "never again, never again, never again" is heard under her breath as the lurch and sway up the stairs
The group arrives at the top. A large cave entrance covered in vines. When you begin to move through, the cave vines seem to snap back at you. A tap, moving and crawling, sometimes a smack but they recoil when any kind of blade is shown. Once inside, the cave is dark. Only the light of the cave opening bringing in any light. The floor is ragged, natural stone splitting out from destroyed tiles. Foul smells come from deeper within, along with the sounds of wolves, goblins, and a booming voice from further in that seems to echo. But it's currently echoing too much to be heard with any clarity.
A few steps to the north of your coming in is a small tunnel that leads to a chamber. Some water dripping from small holes, along with a bit of sunlight. Those same vines growing along the walls and floor. Some of them flowering, but not with any fruit. There is a odd pot in one of the corners. It's here that you all take some rest, staying in this tiny hiding spot for several hours in silence. Not wanting to give away your position to the unknown horde of goblins and other creatures inside. Lafetha hands out a few goodberries to everyone. It keeps you nourished through the day, but still leaves your stomachs feeling empty, the large strawberry sized fruit not quite as filling as one would hope for. With the trickle of water that comes from the ceiling, you're able to refill your water skins through the night.
(You all are able to take a Long Rest)
The rest was uneventful. You gather yourselves off the cold ground, not being able to set up a fire for the night, and begin to head further down. (Heading to spot #1 in the link.) You begin to notice that there aren't any lights in the cave.
