The halfling looks skeptical of her assessment of their situation but Viaya isn't bothered. Bree can look as skeptical as she wants. Her people defend their lands and cowards who attack helpless villagers in the middle of the night clearly have no reason to stick around for a real fight. What they witnessed in Kolovoro was hardly an invasion. The group of soldiers hardly an army. That was a massacre, the soldiers a forward force. Dangerous yes, but still only a small taste of what is to come. Perhaps that is what scares her most. Despite the other woman's skepticism she at least refrains from arguing any further. Apparently seeing the sense in the lot of them moving on as quickly as possible. Something Zakon also quickly sees the sense in and Talos andthe centaur put up no resistance to either. The centaur even offering to carry the two smallest of their party so that they can move more quickly. Odd, she always hears of his kind being far too proud to reduce themselves to simple mounts but then again, he had lowered himself to saving her hadn't he? Something she still hasn't had a chance to thank him for. Later, it will have to wait until later. Zakon is right. They need to get moving.
"If I'm to lead us on, I'll join you towards the front I think." Viayanods, standing up from her crouch, slinging her pack over her shoulders and making sure her rapier and a dagger are both secure on her belt. "Let's get going." Taking a moment to try and remember the route she'd taken to get here and the maps she's studied, the elf pushes through the trees at the edge of the clearing and starts heading for Cherkobe.
I don't think survival's necessary here. But, as we are getting ready to set out on the road, you and Zakon may want to consider perception or nature checks to scout out for wild animals, mysterious footprints, or any signs of life for that matter, since you two are leading the way.
Zakon nods as Viaya gets up to join him at the front of the party. He leaves her to lead the way at first, since she seems to know the way to Cherkobe. Also, he wants to see (and probably hear) how stealthy she can be. He walks a bit behind her, the rest of the party behind him, listening and watching as they go for anything unusual or out of place. Perception : 5The Valcimonian soldiers have probably moved on to their next target, but there's no sense in being caught unaware, especially if a guard was left behind or a scout sent back to report, he thinks.
With Zakon and Viaya scouting ahead, the party moves east towards Cherkobe, a three-days walk from where you are. The trail ahead is quiet and actually...peaceful. It was hard to believe that just a few miles back, incredible destruction had occurred. Then again, you're certain that if you had gone south, you would have seen more of the Valcimonian rampage.
You also notice that it's quiet. Most people stay close to the central areas of Goyag and so trade this far away from the capital isn't common. Most everyone relies on what they make or grow themselves out here. A few scattered farms can be seen off the path, but that's been the only sign of life out here
Just ahead, Zakon and Viaya spot a figure waiting in the road. He's clearly nonthreatening, as far as you know. But, judging from the fact that he is an elf and wearing pretty simple clothing, he appears to be one of the local farmers that live along this stretch of wooded area. Though, as you get closer, you can tell something isn't right. He looks fretful as if he is searching for something and has not found what he was looking for. When he spots the two of you, he waves you down and says in a frantic voice, "Strangers, please help me! My son is sick, and there are no healers for miles. Please, I don't know what's happened to my poor boy."
Alright, let's get this party started!
Viaya, I trust that you did nothing to that post (no one would mess with coding just to roll a 10). I've seen this happen one other time, and I think what happens is when you go to edit a previous post by adding dice rolls, it pops up with that message. So, just to be safe in the future, if you need to make a dice roll after I give new instructions, just start a new post. You don't have to add story every time. Sometimes, especially for group perception checks and initiative rolls, your posts will only consist of dice rolls. So, it's no biggie.

Zakon approaches the distraught man with his hands raised. "Calm down, sir, and tell us a bit about what's going on. Your son is sick? Where is he?" Zakon looks around to see if anyone else is in view (Perception: 17. "What were you looking for?"he asks the farmer. Zakon isn't sure he trusts the stranger, especially after recent events. And less recent events, he thinks to himself sardonically. (Insight: 16
Zakon: Just a little ways off the path you can spot the edges of a fence, which is probably where the man's home is. Aside from that, there's no one else around. As for the man himself, you can see in his eyes a deep, pained worry. He also looks tired, as if he's been fretting for quite a while. He's likely telling the truth.
The man shakes his head. "A thousand apologies," he says. "I suppose I should explain. You are the first people I've seen all day. I've been up and down this stretch of road for almost all the morning looking for help. As for my son, he is back at my family farm. You see, he came out of the woods some two days ago, stumbling around and white as a ghost. He wasn't making any sense, and as soon as we got him home, he collapsed and he hasn't woken since. I come out here every day, hoping to find a traveling cleric or healer to try and help. Unfortunately, this part of the countryside rarely gets visitors."

Zakon looks over at Viaya. "You don't know what happened to him?" he asks the farmer. "He didn't say anything before he collapsed?" Zakonwas growing worried. He was worried for the boy, hoping that Talos might be able to heal whatever was wrong with him. That still left the question of what was wrong with him. Were there other dangers besides the soldiers they needed to worry about? Had the soldiers unleashed monsters on the unsuspecting elves in addition to burning their villages?
A stranger standing in the road was nearly the exact sort of trouble Viaya had been expecting when they set out, and at first both she and Zakon were leery of the man. Regardless of the fact that he was an elf, and a simply dressed farmer type at that, they had had a rough night. Letting their guard down had nearly gotten them burned once already. For her part, Viaya wasn't in the mood to take any risks. Still, as the man explained himself and Zakon's questions began to clarify matters, the elf dropped her hand from the hilt of her rapier at least. Dipping her head to the farmer as his pained gaze met hers.
"We might be able to help."she said. "There's even a cleric among us. But my friend here is right. We need to know more." Glancing at the gnome, Viaya could tell that they were thinking along the same lines. Could this be the work of the Valcimonians as well? As commonplace a misfortune as illness and injury were in this area this surely sounded more serious than that and was far too large of a coincidence besides. She had to wonder what they were getting themselves into and knew they hardly had the time to spare but the stranger clearly needed help and they were in a position to give it. A position they hadn't been in for many back in Kolovoro. Ignoring the pang that rang through her chest at the thought, the elf straightened. "And we ought to take a look at him as well."

Zakon sees the farmer's eyes widen as he takes in Talos and Axis."Do not be afraid," Zakonsaid. "They are with us, and we mean you no harm. Can you explain a bit more? The boy and his sister were in the woods? And the boy has collapsed? What about the girl? Does she suffer the same affliction?" Zakon looked over at Viaya. If the girl was coherent, perhaps they could get information out of her about whatever happened. He was anxious to move on to Cherkobe and pass on word about the Valcimonian soldiers, but his conscience wouldn't let him pass on by without first trying to help the boy.
There'd been another child in the woods as well? They are getting this all backwards and twisted, the farmer addled by his worry and by facing down a group of strangers no doubt. An addlement not helped at all by the appearance of others in their group. The elvish man has likely never seen a person more exotic than a halfling before. He gives the gnome a bit of an odd look. "My son is called Vall and my daughter is Eryn. However, what they choose as their adult names is entirely up to them. Just this way."
A short walk down a dirt track leading just off the path heads to Luven's farm. It consists of a run-down stone farmhouse and a large wooden barn. The farm has seen better days, and yet the ground here is fertile enough for the family to do reasonably well, growing barley and wheat and keeping a small herd of sheep.
Luven explains that Vall is being kept in a small bedroom on the upper story of the farmhouse. Watching over him are his tearful mother, Torrie, and his younger sister, Eryn.

As her past can attest to. Still, nothing out of place catches her eye and they reach the farmstead without incident, the she elf taking in the slightly rundown property without comment. Listening as the farmer describes his son's condition in further detail.
"We'll do what we can for him." she says again as they move inside arms crossed over her chest. "The dragonborn is our cleric, his name is Talos. Perhaps he and your wife should see to the boy while the rest of us talk down here? There's a few more of us than one sick room can fit." Aw, man, I was hoping you'd get that one. Good try, though.
Talos gives a subtle nod towards the mother and she leads the dragonborn upstairs to check on Vall.
Meanwhile, Viaya and Zakon engage in a sort of silent conversation about the strange wooden effigy on the table. Viaya, being the more experienced one with elven culture wracks her brain trying to remember if it is something she had seen before. Unfortunately, no ideas come to mind. It's just three sticks tied together with old twine, meaning it could either be a sun, a starburst, or anything really. Then again, it could be nothing. Most likely, it is some sort of religious item from many, many years past. Elven society was much simpler then, including the religion. Most elves favored nature gods, and so, this could be some sort of symbol of them, but it's hard to tell. Viaya does know some people who would be far more knowledgable on the subject, but they are too far away, and she's not all that eager to see them again.
Luven follows their gaze. "I don't know what that is," he says. "Eryn had it with her when she and Vall returned. She said she found it in the woods. I've considered throwing the damned thing out, but like you, I wonder if it could give some sort of clue to what happened out there."

She's heard of highwaymen using such ruses before and though he doesn't seem like the type to be a roadway robber or anything of that sort, she's not always the best judge of character.
There's a few more of us than one sick room can fit." They still need to talk to the girl Eryn before moving forward as well. Perhaps she can give them a better idea of what afflicts her brother.

As Luven leads them into his home, Zakon notices the odd star on the table. He catches Viaya's eye and inclines his head slightly towards the table and the odd symbol. He keeps moving, no hesitation in his steps. "Yes, that sounds like a fine plan. Gives Talos a bit more room to work."
Viaya notices Zakon's small, imperceptible nod and follows his gaze as they wait for the farmer to decide just how much more trust he is willing to extend them. Noting the star on the table with the tiniest arch of her brows. Wracking her mind as she tries to remember if she's seen it before and what it stands for. Religion: 9

Aw, man, I was hoping you'd get that one.
