“On the other hand, I just bet casting is okay for self-defense,” Abraxas says. He has his journal/spell focus in his bag, but with a quick bit of cured leather, he whispers and gestures to cast mage armor.
“Does any one else see an imp on her back?”
As the crowd panics toward the exits, he tries to move over the chairs in front of them toward the stage.
Harmony watched as a woman came up, welcoming everyone before introducing herself and then announcing Aria. She was instantly captivated by the bard, listening to her singing intently. When she was done, she easily was the loudest one as she cheered and clapped so very loudly for Aria, even more so than Jove did. Harmony was grinning from ear to ear, having thoroughly enjoyed that so much and wanting to become an amazing bard just like her. Then it looked like Aria was going to perform another song until suddenly she stumbled and screamed, shocked. Why is she screaming?! Then she heard someone from the City Watch call to shut down the festivities as everyone started to panic. "Aria!" Harmony called out, not even hearing the others as she was quickly making her way through the panicking crowd to get up to the stage and over to Aria.
Abraxas bolsters himself with magical protection in the ruckus, and rushes toward the stage with Balin and Harmony. Aria releases another shout of pain and continues to frantically reach for something behind her.
The City Watch and private guards have reached the stage, and have drawn spears while the captain of the City Watch tries poorly to calm the crowd.
For Balin and Harmony:
It seems that Abraxas is correct. As you approach the stage you can see that a bright red imp has glommed onto the back of Aria's neck and has buried its stinger into her.
Tracking: Abraxas, Balin, and Harmony are approaching the stage. They will reach the stage with another round of movement. Jove and Halsen are at their seats, at least 100 feet from the stage.

Abraxas Intelligence: 10
For Abraxas:
You know that imps are lesser devils from the Lower Planes. Because of their low place in the devil heirarchy, they tend to be servants to someone or something evil. Their stingers are poisonous.
Aria stumbles forward, and the celestial light emanating from her flickers, then fades as she collapses. The audience gasps collectively at the sight of a bright red imp pulling its stinger out of her neck, spraying blood into the air as it starts to take flight.
Tracking: The imp is 5 feet above Aria's unconscious body. Two members of the City Watch and three private guards are closing in on the imp, between 10-20 feet away. Abraxas and Balin have reached the stage, and are 30 feet from Aria and the imp. Harmony and Halsen are approaching the stage, 60 feet from Aria and the imp. Jove is still at his seat, nearly 100 feet from the stage.

Jove is stunned by all of the things folding before him. He snaps out of it, and runs 30 ft toward the commotion.
First, Jove would like to see if there are any symbols or runes on the imp, possibly telling him where it is from. (I think imps are "regular" enough devils for a Jove to know they are from the Hells, but that is up to you, DM.) I want to know if I can find out where it came from or who sent it or something like that. Due to my eldritch invocations, I can read all languages and have darkvision up to 120 ft. Perhaps a history or religion check? Both of which are the same bonus: 17
Next, he would like to cast dancing lights. I would like them to come from the heavens and dart around him, before assuming a humanoid form in front of him. I am trying to scare him into thinking it is some divine source, causing him to be stunned for a little bit until someone else closer can wrangle him. Intimidation? 7
Abraxas stops moving toward Aria when he is twenty-five feet from her. Seeing it preparing to take flight, he invokes the Weave verbally and casts Blindness/Deafness, seeking to rob the imp of its sight.

"May Moradin's grace heal you," intones Balin, casting healing word on Aria. 5 "And destroy you." he says to the imp. sending a sacred flame at the imp. 5 damage, Dex Save DC 13.
Harmony had heard Balin, agreeing with him as she could now see the imp on the back of Aria's neck. She continued to make her way up to the stage, shocked as Aria collapsed and seeing the imp start to fly. "Aria, please be alright." she said as she then cast healing word on her too, so worried.

For Jove:
You don't see anything on the imp's body that might indicate where it is from.
Jove creates magical light in a humanoid form in front of him. Balin and Harmony release healing energy into Aria, who stirs once more on the stage. Halsen sprints, leaping over the last few seats and reaching the stage, but the imp dodges the monk's punch.
The imp puts up an admirable fight, resisting Abraxas's magical blindness and flying out of the way of the small radiant flame that suddenly descends toward it - but focusing on these attacks, it fails to note the approach of the spears of the City Watch and private guards. The imp is skewered, dying without a sound and falling in a heap next to Aria.
Jove sees that the others have tried to heal Aria. He is going to run all the way up to the imp and investigate it up close. One: I don't want the guards to completely mutilate it. Two: I want to see if there is any more information we can get from it, even if it is dead. Jove wants the others to act on Aria first. But he is keeping the imp preserved for the moment.

Jove Investigation: 18
For Jove, Abraxas, Balin and Halsen:
You notice a piece of crumpled paper laying next to the imp's fallen body.
The front doors of the ballroom slam shut, and the captain of the City Watch turns to the crowd. "No one is allowed to leave until we conduct an investigation!"
Aria stumbles to her feet with the assistance of another City Watch guard, who helps her to the side of the stage and begins stabilizing her neck wound.
The captain walks to the stage and announces loudly, "Anyone willing to assist in the investigation, please step forward." The crowd inside is composed mostly of commoners, nobility, and servants, and none of them seem eager to volunteer their help. Shaking his head, the captain approaches the party. "That was great work from you all. I don't know if my men would have reached the devil in time if you had not intervened," he says, "Will you assist me? I need to find out why an imp has suddenly appeared inside the villa, and my men and the Cassalanter guards will have their hands full keeping the crowd calm."
Harmony was so relieved, watching as Aria was stirring now after she and Balin healed her up before the imp was killed by the City Watch. Then she heard the doors slam shut, the City Watch telling everyone not to leave until the investigation is done. Then she saw a guard help Aria up and over to the side, so happy that the other bard is doing okay. She heard the captain ask if anyone wanted to assist in the investigation but no one in the audience wanted to as he came over to them. He thanked them and asked if they would assist him, wanting to find out why an imp just appeared in the villa since his men will be busy with the crowd. "You're welcome. Yes, of course we will help you out! Anyone who disturbs the Midwinter Gala by having that imp attack Aria during her performance needs to be punished." Harmony happily said back to him, nodding and eager to do whatever she can to help keep the festivities going again so everyone can go back to having fun. She felt so sorry for Aria, only getting to perform one song before suddenly being attacked by an imp, wondering who on earth would want to hurt a beautiful bard like her and why.
Jove would like to take a look at the paper that Halsen now has. "I can read pretty much anything. So let's see what we got here..." I guess this is me using the Help action for Halsen's investigation. So Halsen would have advantage on it.
"Hey, Harmony. The crowd is noticeably upset. Perhaps they could do for a bit of a song to calm them down? I'd be happy to give you the starting number if you want to give it a go?" If Harmony wants to perform to try and ease the crowd, I'd be happy to give her some bardic inspiration?
