Incantis, Redbrand 1, already severely weakened, shudders visibly as your hex comes upon him, and he cries out in confusion. Wisdom save:1
The cry intensifies, and then becomes a scream, and then the silent corpse drops to the ground.
Dario, your arrow hits its target but seems to glance off a buckle or something metallic; you hear the ring of metal upon metal, but the arrow is deflected and does no harm.
Dekhan, the magical energy pours from your hand into your chest, and you instantly feel much better.
Dekhan, I don't think I can retcon your AC, no. I will allow you to equip your shield now if you want, though - under normal circumstances it would take time to do that. Having your shield out or not can be a major decision: you need at least one hand free to cast a spell with a somatic component (Bless for example). Stowing it also allows you to roll 1d10 on your sword, not 1d8.
Group Three is up: that's Strix, Vaz and Scupper (in any order).
oops lol, I thought that guy was full health, I'll take the kill either way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
FYI for future reference, and Steve this is up to you as the DM, but sheathing/drawing a weapon is a free interaction, meaning if you're willing to redraw it next turn you should theoretically be able to cast spells wearing a shield.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The female centaur that some of you met before dashes into the scene. She's wearing chain mail armor and wielding a shield in her right hand and warhammer in the other, brandishing a blue hammertop with a grey cloud design. She has glowing yellow eyes with long red hair and two large swirled horns stretching outward near the back of her head that are encircled with several articles of small jewels. Her lower half of her body is equine with brown short hairs and her long, red tail behind her flows gently through the wind. From Hooves to top of her head she stands 6'10". She approaches in front of the half-elf spellcaster. She aims her warhammer to the unconscious halfling and whispers, "Akadi, erect him once again." and casts Healing Word.
"we are the shore at which the beasts' wave laps, trying to claw their way up to the gods amongst the dunes..." Strix muses as he marches to meet the challenge of Redbrand 4 (last turns movement). As the blade bites, he glanced down distractedly at the wound. "Iron in.... Blood out.... An animal transaction... But we are men! Come - Shed your links, brother! Transcend! Release your energy to me and we shall become as the gods are!"
He pivots and brings his staff up with two hands, aiming to catch his foe on the chin. 8
And when that misses, he stands ready, poised for the riposte. (Patient defense - 1 ki spent to take Dodge as a bonus action)

OCC: I mean I think with that speech alone, the attack should've hit!! Seems a shame to have that end in a miss :(
Zoria, your spell takes effect and you see the halfling stir upon the ground. The Redbrand facing Strix sees you, and his eyes widen in alarm and confusion.
Scupper awakes, healed and conscious, but still lying on the ground; you don't know what the source of your healing was.
Strix, your staff swings but the Redbrand ducks; the staff makes the lightest of contact with the armour that covers his shoulder, and bounces off, leaving him unharmed. You ready yourself against attack.
Scupper, no need for a death saving throw; please take your full action and movement.
Varinth, still screaming, runs full pelt at Red 4. As he passes the readied Man of Feathers, Vaz jumps into the air (shoulder first, legs tucked) and let's his momentum carry him straight into Red 4. Acrobatics:11
If successful in knocking Red 4 prone (and if we consider the run and the leap Movement and Bonus Action) Varinth sits atop the bewildered Brigant and growls;
Back off, that's our Strix.
Varinth slams one hand down on Reds lower jaw and in his other hand a ball of flame appears Phssst!. [Produce Flame] Vaz then thrusts his hand over the Bastards mouth, making him eat the flame.
To hit4
Couldn't find grappling, is that not a thing anymore? Advise on what else you would like me to roll and if any of this is possible ;)
Forget the grapple - did you just go full "room on the broom" on that redbrand??
Grapples are Athletics Vs target's athletics or acrobatics, so if you have decent athletic proficiency and strength it can be great at higher levels. Monsters don't tend to have athletics skills, they have rising AC and save proficiency. At lower levels though it's the same crapshoot as Attack or Spellcasting.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Scupper opens his eyes having already dreamed of personally having slaughtered all the Redbrands, singled-handed. He looks about in confusion...
Are there more?! Are they revived?!
He looks to his crew still active in combat...sees himself in the veritable middle of it and makes some quick decisions. He disengages behind the nearest friend and uses his cunning action coupled with his height to hide 27
Get ye'self outa trouble before startin' more trouble, ye daft halflin'
OOC: Okay the rolls did not go well and the DM has given me an out. Take it man. But the line. I gotta say the Room on the Broom line. Stuff it. All in Balls out.

LOL!! I missed bumping into a human being.
Vaz launches himself into the air, attempting to knock into the Redbrand and shove him into the ground. (Redbrand 4's acrobatics: 13)
He trips as he launches himself, and skids through the earth to land prone on the ground next to Redbrand 4 who must take half a step to the side in order to avoid a collision.
Shove requires a full action, so Vaz can't cast Produce Flame on the same turn, I'm afraid.
Scupper, you didn't mention that you stood up, so that means you used your action to disengage, then ten feet of movement to crawl to C15: crawling uses double movement, and you need to be obscured by Dekhan (i.e. behind him) in order to hide. You then used your bonus action to hide. You still have fifteen feet of movement left; you can use that to stand up or crawl another five feet, if you like.
You are most definitely hidden, though.
Scupper, now awake, moves carefully away from the Redbrands, behind Dekhan, and seems to vanish.
Group Two: Dario, Incantis and Dekhan (in any order)
Group Three: Strix, Vaz, Scupper and Zoria (in any order)
Redbrand 2 is gasping in pain, but his friend is still unhurt, so he focuses his attacks once again on Dekhan:
Attack: 24 Damage: 5
Attack: 20 Damage: 8
Dekhan, two more strong blows hit you. You've trained for this, this is your purpose, but the pain is still real.
Redbrand 3 snarls We need to get out of here. Let's finish them and go. He strikes at Dekhan too:
Attack: 19 Damage: 8
The first blow is enough, and Dekhan goes down in a clatter. Redbrand 3 roars with the victory, and all thought of escape has left him. He looks around for the next target, but does not see Scupper, so instead he rushes up next to Redbrand 4, and seeing Vaz on the ground, makes his second attack upon the prone wizard:
Attack: 18 Damage: 8 (Check for critical on advantage: 1)
Vaz, you take 8 points of piercing damage from Redbrand 3.
Redbrand 4 gapes at Vaz whose jumping attack ended so strangely, but he turns his attention to Strix, determined to cut him down this time:
Attack: 14 Damage: 3
Attack: 20 Damage: 5 (Disadvantage: 13)
Strix, you are focusing on evading the attacks and do so successfully.
Incantis, Redbrand 1, already severely weakened, shudders visibly as your hex comes upon him, and he cries out in confusion. Wisdom save:1

Errrr, a shove attack? That's an athletics check. Do you want to roll again?
Grapple does exist; it reduces the target's speed to zero. Still Athletics though.
Forget the grapple - did you just go full "room on the broom" on that redbrand??

On the map, Scupper's green dot = hidden, though hidden isn't really a condition. He's not hidden in general, he's just hidden from Redbrand 2 and 3.
Dekhan's red dot is unconscious and bleeding out.
Dekhan clings to the light as darkness tries to engulf him. Death save 10
Sorry, but I'm on mobile so can't check, and one of those attacks was a 20 - were they definitely rolled with disadvantage?

Just checking, should the centaur be closer to Scups? Or was it one of those fancy "From a Distance" heals?
Btw Wecome back Squigs!
Nope, my mistake, have corrected. Both now miss.
Yes, Healing Word is at a distance.
