Cautiously approaching the action, Serak gets a clearer view of the fight at hand. More blights... great. Knowing that Beetle and Arkhan will struggle in the dark the bard casts a spell to lighten up the area. Shouting the incantation, a cool blue flame ripples northwards along the road before disappearing into the ether, "Akular vi shirak hakon!"
Whipping around the blights tangled wooden bodies, the flickering blue glow settles over them. Though the creatures seem largely unaware of their change in colour, their presence is now clear to all. Shining blue beacons in the dark.
Circling the tree and spotting the blights for the first time, Zyltris keeps at the task in hand. Morningstar held high, he bears down on the terrified cultist.
Zyltris Attack Roll: 15 Damage: 8
Slamming his morningstar into the back of the elfs skull, Zyltris adds another to his list of kills this evening. As the cultist falls to the floor, the glowing blight behind her is revealed. Creaking loudly as it moves, it hisses as it reaches out for him.
Stomping heavily forwards, the first of the blue glowing blights lurches for Zyltris.
Blight 2 Attack Roll: 15 Damage: 2
Like broken branches in a storm, the blights wooden claws batter against the elf, denting his armour and scratching as his exposed limbs. The cloak he wears is quickly reduced to tatters in the barrage. Without warning, the second glowing blight slams into him, having finally made it out of the glade.
Blight 3 Attack Roll: 22
Obstructed by the first blight, the seconds attack is dampened heavily. Holding an arm out against the first, Zyltris struggles to hold them back as he raises his morningstar for an attack of his own.
Further south, another blight suddenly charges out from the forest wheezing wordlessly. Throwing itself into Brots, the wooden creature scratches into the gnomes flesh.
Blight 4 Attack Roll: 5 Damage: 4
Yelping in surprise, Brots is thrown to the ground, instinctively somersaulting backwards to his feet. Sporting a new gash across his cheek, the gnome narrows his eyes and growls. In the undergrowth, broken branches and heavy footsteps. The forest seemingly alive with hissing creatures.
"Nonsense my dear! Let an old man have a little fun!" Unperturbed Dayereth pushes onwards. Effortlessly picking a firefly from the air, the old monk scurries towards Arkhan, places a hand on his muscled shoulder and whispers, "Galad bericin". The dragonborn immediately begins to glow with bright shining light in all directions. Pleased with himself he turns back to his wife, " You know....the sooner you help these gentlemen the sooner we can go home!"Sighing Jelenneth can only agree with him as she trudges forwards.
OOC: Back onto the same map! Any inconsistencies etc let me know. Light issues have been resolved for the time being so everyone should be back to normal. Beetle, Arkhan and Syna to go next!
Beetle, now being able to see moves towards B5. As he closes he once again invokes Tyr's greatness, "Great Tyr, please guide us once again to victory and bring justice to these abominations..." as he closes Talon once again raises and as it comes foward Beetle casts green-flame blade
Attack: 16 Damage: 6 on a hit green flame jumps to B6 for 3 damage.

Finally able to see, Beetle bounds across the road and into the treeline, towards the approaching blights. With Talon aloft he summons Tyr's strength to him, before slashing heavily at the wooden creature.
Attack on B5: 16 Damage: 6
Green Flame Blade on B6: 3 (x2 for Weakness: 6)
With Talon bursting into bright green flames, Beetle carves his sword through the first of the nearby blights, reducing it to harmless firewood. Green embers spew from the blade, catching on the body of the second approaching blight. A hiss of terror fills the air as the creature succumbs to the intense heat - its dried wooden body making perfect kindling for the flame. No sooner has Beetle withdrawn his blade than both blights lie crumbled on the forest floor.
Having been tackled by the blight so suddenly, Brots has no time to switch his weapons. Instinctively he reaches for an arrow, notches in his bow, and fires into the blights twisted wooden chest.
Brots Attack Roll: 16 Damage: 7
Loosing the arrow as he stumbles backwards, the gnome somehow manages to hit the target. His arrow punching a hole through the blights torso, removing a supporting branch and causing the beast to collapse into itself. Dusting himself as he returns to his feet, Brots turns his attention north once more. Draws another arrow and aims at the last remaining monsters.
OOC: Decent rolls there! Three blights down in two attacks. Arkhan and Syna still to roll.
Arkahn runs up to B3 (south east square of it). As he is running his longsword begins to sparkle and crackle as lightning emits from the blade. As he reaches his target he grips his sword with both hands and goes for a big overhand swing.
Booming Blade Attack: 16 Damage: 9 If it moves: 3 Thunder damage

Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
Lighting up the forest as he charges forwards, Arkhan raises his longsword. The hair on Seraks neck stands on end as the dragonborn stomps past, bright crackling sparks fizzle through the air behind him. Swinging his massive hands over his head, Arkhan smashes the sword into the wooden creature.
Attack: 16 Damage: 9
A bright flash of light fills the air as the blade strikes its target. The blights body, filled with electrical energy for a brief moment, shudders violently before falling to the ground lifeless, a faint rumble echoing from its corpse as it crumples. Snorting at the simplicity of these foes, the shining dragonborn relaxes. The last of these blights should be easy game. Barely worth his trouble.
Further to the south, Jelenneth slowly follows behind her husband, shielding her eyes with her hand, prepared to join the fight if needed. Although he enrages her so, she wouldn't change him for the world. Though she wishes he would slow down.
OOC: Little disappointed with these blights. Barely any sort of challenge at all! Oh well.... just Syna left to go!
Having eyed up the blight for a few seconds, Syna chooses his time to strike carefully. The blight swings an arm towards Zyltris, but the blow is dodged knocking the creature slightly off balance. Within half a moment, Syna is airborne. His canine teeth gleaming white shards as they flash towards the blight.
Attack: 7
Somehow the blight regains its balance. Sensing the sudden leap towards it, the monster ducks, sending the wolf sailing harmlessly overhead. Landing heavily on all fours, Syna skids to a halt and round his target again, waiting patiently for another opening.
Rising to its feet once more, the blight hisses again, towards Zyltris. A pattern of quick audible clicks echo through its body as its wicker like arms stretch wide to attack.
Attack: 18 Damage: 4
Clicking loudly, the blight swings an arm sharply downwards but is suddenly silenced. Bursting through its neck, a long thin shaft of wooden unlike any found in its body. A pointed metal barb visible on one end. The blight collapses into a heap of rotting wood, leaving the night quiet once more. Striding over, Serak pulls his arrow from the beast and surveys the scene. Several wooden corpses and two cloaked cultists lie dead along the edge of the wood.
Closely behind, Dayereth groans loudly, "Didn't leave me any then? Very selfish of you, very selfish indeed." The old elf smiles in half a jest, "I was just getting started!"

Trudging along behind Beetle, Arkhan follows the paladin inside.
Beetle Perception Check: 19 (Advantage from Arkhan)
The small farmhouse, homely in its day, is now just a cobweb filled shell. Though the cultists have not been here long, they have managed to make themselves at home here. Stepping through the empty hallway into the main room, Beetle looks around. The only furnishings here are a broken table, two stools and a still warm camp bed. In the corner a small chest lies open, already emptied. The dismembered cultist lying in the doorway, hides no treasures upon him.
Arkhan strides over to a tidy bundle stacked beside the chest. Inside, a set of hand axes, dinged stained chain mail, a worn but useful backpack full of tools and a jewel encrusted longsword. Grumbling to himself, the Dragonborn dons his armour, checking it over. His blade and armour seems fine, weathered and rusted but reliable. A sliver of dried flesh still nestled between the chain links from the mess around the Moonshae Isles. Around his swords pommel, a tiny set of scratches around the inlaid crystal. Someone has had a try at removing it. Everything stinks of the filth that put him here. Nevertheless, revenge is sweet. Lifting his blade and shield, Arkhan finally feels whole once more.
"Hmph, they should be glad they're dead now." Arkhan dons his armor and shield. As he inspects the jewel he growls quietly before reacquainting himself with the blade, he then sheaths it. "Do you want this back?" he held out the longsword that was given to him.

Serak: While the others search the room and settle in for the evening, Serak lights his pipe as he ponders what to do about the Dragon. Finally, he says, "So... about this Dragon. The Cultist said it is a young Green Dragon and that means poison... If we choose to attempt to slay the beast, I believe Syna and Jelenneth can protect Arkhan, Beetle and Zyltris from it's poison. If we can catch it sleeping, we might have a chance against it. What does everyone think?"
OOC: I've made a detailed plan that I'll post, if you all want to try to fight it. I think we have a good chance if we surprise it while sleeping.

OOC: Thanks Arkhan. I’d got your spell in my notes but that’ll help me out greatly now they’re all together!
Dayereth enters as Serak goes through his plan, abruptly stopping the bard mid sentence. “This dragon! THIS dragon?!” The old monk glances around the room for support on the matter. Nervously his wife grabs his arm. “No! Get off me woman! Let me tell you gentlemen, some time ago I had written to Syna about this very issue. Turns out it was THIS dragon causing all the commotion in the high forest. Those foolish cultists had no business treating with him!” Now holding an unremarkable branch in his hand as a crutch, he hobbles forwards, “I simply cannot let you face this beast without insisting that I come with you. I have things to discuss with this..... this..... DRAGON!.....” Barely able to hold back her laughter, Jelenneth interjects, “dears.... please forgive my husband. Dayereth dear, sit down before you hurt yourself.”
Muttering under his breath, the monk, now red faced with anger reluctantly takes a seat on a wobbling stool in the corner, “tormentor of the woods.... blasted creature!”
Serak: Stirring the fire with a stick, Serak takes a long pull from his pipe, wondering where to start. Exhaling a cloud of white smoke, the bard begins, "The plan hinges on surprising the creature while asleep. First we..." Serak then relates his plan to the party, between long draws from his pipe.
OOC: The plan is too long and detailed for an in-character post. Click the Spoiler below for a wall of text. lol
1: Preparation
First, Brots can tell us if the Dragon is home with his Primeval Awareness ability. His hawk Lucas can then confirm when the Dragon is sleeping.
Serak uses Bardic Inspirationon Arkhan, Beetle and Zyltris
With all these Buffs, our three trusty warriors should easily survive the Dragon's Poison attacks and Breath Weapon.
2: Approach
Serak casts Silence as a Ritual, so the party can approach the Tower unheard.
Serak attempts to get line of sight on the Dragon. If it isn't possible, he'll drink the Potion of Flying and go in through the Tower.
If the Dragon wakes up through any of this, Lucas warns us with a squawk and we abort mission.
3: Surprise Round
Assuming all goes to plan up until this point, the Dragon is asleep, which means it auto-fails Strength and Dexterity Saving Throws. This is key.
Serak opens the round by casting Faerie Fire while everyone else uses Ready Action. Dragon auto-fails and we now have Advantage against it for the entire fight.
Arkhan, Beetle and Zyltris rush in when they see the light and surround the Dragon. Stay as far apart as possible, so it can't hit more than one of you with it's Breath Weapon. With all the Buffs, your survivability is high.
Brots, Serak and Syna stay far enough back that we're out of range. We shoot the Dragon while healing and supporting the front line warriors.
Dayereth and Jelenneth should stay out of the fight. A Monk would get wrecked and Jelenneth needs to maintain Concentration on Resistance. They can stay back and tend to any wounded that fall back out of combat. Plus, I don't want to share XP with them. lol
Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas are welcome. I'm sure I've missed or overlooked something.
With her husband mumbling to himself and sulking in the corner, Jelenneth speaks up, “If this is your will then we will assist you. Though I will need some time to prepare the spells you’ll need..... Dayereth will hang back with me but be on hand as well I am sure.” Slightly embarrassed she nods over to the monk who huffs loudly and intentionally. His wise old eyes search for Synas, willing him to change the bards mind.
