Beetle charges across the room, reaching for a length of rope. The tangle of limbs before him makes the paladins task difficult, as he desperately attempts to ensnare the beast.
Beetle Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) Check for Tying: 3 (+Adv for restraint)
Healing Spirit for Beetle: 2
Wrapping the rope tightly around Gundrens limbs, Beetle pulls hard, forming a tight knot around the beasts wrists. Gundren screeches in anger. His movement suddenly slow and clumsy.
Serak: Seeing Beetle reaching for his rope, Serak says, "It's a shapeshifter! Binding it is hopeless! We've no choice but to kill it!"
Serak's Turn:
Passing close to the Healing Spirit, Serak then leaps upon the barrels to the shapeshifter's right. Carefully aiming his thrust, Serak plunges his Rapier into the creature's chest.
The dragonborn loosens his grip for a brief moment and swings hard. A soft gasp of air follows his blade as he thrusts Hew into the beasts side.
Attack: 16 (+ adv) Damage: 6
Healing Spirit to Arkhan: 4
With a crunch, the blade plunges into Gundrens side. Arkhan resumes his grip, straining slightly as the beast struggles desperately to escape.
Sensing the tables truly being turned, Syna holds his ground. The druid flicks his wrists once more - his hands glowing slightly with a healing glow. As Serak enters the room he presses a palm gently into the bards side.
Cure Wounds to Serak: 10
Passing close to the Healing Spirit, Serak then leaps upon the barrels to the shapeshifter's right. Carefully aiming his thrust, Serak plunges his Rapier into the creature's chest.
Healing Spirit: 5
Attack(Adv. Restrained): 20 Damage: 4
Leaping to higher ground, Serak presses his weight into his blade. Again the creature cries out in pain, but stands defiant. Gundren writhes awkwardly, struggling against the restraint.
With a burst of effort, Gundren strains against the rope. For a moment, it seems the creature had freed itself, but aided by Arkhans grip, the restaint holds. An sickening collection of ungodly sounds pour from Gundrens mouth, his body contorting slowly back into his disguised form. "No! My friends! Stop this madness!"
Gundrens pleas are answered with a flurry of steel as Talon plunges deep into the beasts chest. With a gasp of air, the half-dwarf falls silent returning to his monstrous form, colllapsing in a bound pile on the floor. Arkhan releases the body from his grip, allowing him to crumple at the dragonborns feet.
Beyond the leather curtain beside them the castle is largely silent. A raucous party in another room seems to be the only source of sound as the party gather around the lifeless corpse.
OOC: Nice work everyone! Was a close run thing for a while there.... could have got a lot worse too. 600xp for everybody :D
(OOC: lol yeah it wasn't looking good for a while there, but we pulled it off.)
With the battle ended Beetle turns to his companions... " What do you think guys, loot up and get out to rest then come back? Or maybe try to barricade ourselves into that other room and rest there then search the rest of this place?"
With that said Beetle will start to search through bodies and rooms for anything useful, waiting on the parties decision to stay or go.
"Yeah, we should take what we can, and maybe come back. I don't want to be caught here. Sleep in the woods." Arkhan stands and wipes blood from his face scales.

OOC: Any specific rooms Beetle or just where you guys are at the minute? Remember the wolf and hobgoblin will be awake soon so you might want to watch your step
(ooc: we need to loot black spider and maybe this changeling mostly. but that storage room might have stuff too? we could all just stand over the hobgoblin and kill him before he wakes up and the same with the wolf?)

Serak: Breathing a heavy sigh of relief as he weighs their options, Serak again enters the Spirit's unearthly aura, motioning the others to follow him as he says, "Excellent work, my friends! It was a bit touch and go for a moment there and I'm spent as well."
Quickly formulating another of his infamous plans, the Bard motions toward the Shapeshifter and says, "First, we must hide this body. Would one of you carry him into the King's Chamber while I clean up this blood? I have questions for the Hobgoblin before we dispatch him." He quickly goes to work disguising any signs of battle in the hall.
Deception: 25
No time to waste, Serak gags the napping Hobgoblin before waking him with a dagger to his throat. Handing the chain to Beetle, he motions for the Hobgoblin to stand and march into the King's chamber.
Intimidation: 7
In no mood for games, Serak nonchalantly draws his Rapier, staring coldly into the Hobgoblin's eyes as he plunges the steel into the heart of the beast that had brutally mauled him only moments ago.
Attack(Adv. - Prone): 17 Damage(Auto-Critical - Unconscious): 9 Target: Wolf
Eyes never leaving the Hobgoblin's, Serak withdraws his Rapier from the wolf before holding the bloody blade to his captive's throat. He demands, "Tell me something to persuade me not to do the same to you."
A muffled whisper barely echoes around the chamber as Serak withdraws his bloodied blade, wiping it casually through the wolfs fur. Slowly the bard stalks back towards the captive hobgoblin, growling aggressively into the beasts face, "Tell me something to persuade me not to do the same to you."
The hobgoblin swallows hard, his eyes staring diectly into those of the half elf. A long, defiant moment passes, before a reluctantly grumbled trail of words spill from its lips. "What you looking for half-filth? Hog know you not letting him go"
Serak: Nodding at Arkhan's suggestion, Serak adds, "Indeed. We may require a witness to what transpired here as well. Perhaps we'll send you back to your clan with a very strongly worded message? Perhaps you'll rot in a prison cell? Better than being dead, yes?"
Satisfied he's made his point, he asks, "Now, how many Cragmaw remain in the castle? For every one you're off count, you lose a toe, finger or other easily removed appendage, understand?"
Emphasizing his point further with the tip of his blade, he continues, "You'll also tell us any information you may have overheard concerning the Black Spider, Wave Echo Cave, Phandalin, Gundren Rockseeker, Townmaster Harbin, Halia Thornton, and anything else rattling in that misshapen skull of yours that might be useful. Now speak!"

The hobgoblin takes his time responding, again choosing his words carefully despite the pressure. "Armour and Weapons we have. North West of the castle. Stolen from some old fool in an ambush on the High Road. Many serve here under Grol. Small army to hold the trail, harry the traders, do Grols bidding. Unsure how many - Goblin, Hobgoblin, Feathery Bears."
Pressing his blade into the hobgoblins throat, Serak squeezes the last of the air from the soldiers lungs as it winces away, "Hog doesn't know of these others. The prisoners.... they know something. Brought them here we did." His eyes shift subtly, nervously to the doorway to the north of the kings chamber, "Hog just a soldier. We serve Grol. Grol serve Blackspider. We bring prisoners from other goblins. Some plan he has.... but now...." The hobgoblins eyes shift back to the Kings Corpse, slowly being dragged across the room by Syna and Beetle. "Now not sure what Cragmaw do.... Targor now in command."
"want to become a sailor, boy?" Arkhan takes the arm of the hobgoblin and carves into him the crude symbol of his ship and crew. "You go to port. Find the ship with this. That's your family now. Otherwise, you don't leave, you don't live. Understood? Tell them, you're a gift from Voldez."
