ooc: Yup, that's just part of you being you. The advantage on your first attack is strictly from Tyr looking favorably upon you for your prayers in your first encounter. You have a feeling your warhammer will strike true.
ooc: Just so everyone knows. I've talked about this in DM threads but don't think I've mentioned it here. (probably should have put it in the dm notes) I'm a make the players heroes kind of DM. Not that I'm going to give you all magical items after your first victory, but I want to set the stage for a story you can succeed in. I also reward good play in general, good role playing, cleverness and following character traits. I can also be a little devious and intentionally misleading to test you. The way I reward good game play is with stuff like advantage rolls, automatic DC checks, and yes, occasionally good (maybe magic) items :)
"That must be the dinner whistle," Wormsquirt says excitedly as he sniffs the air, "Is that stew I smell?" Starting to turn towards the savory aroma he drops into a defensive crouch unexpectedly as something warns him instinctively to do so before ever taking a step. Someone yells from the top of one wall, there's incoming fire. Shrugging dejectedly his hands move to the hilts of his blades, he sighs to himself, "I guess food will have to wait."
Wormsquint will have first action. You are also furthest away. The 17's will go in order of board post so, Zarbof, Parth, Roger, then Mysti, Thorum and then Belialuin. The gnolls will be acting somewhere in there. Here's what's going on...
As everyone readies weapons spears start arcing over the low walls to pepper the ground around you. You hear a short grunt as one of the spears finds a home in one of the lookouts along the south wall. At the same time you see several Gnolls clambering over the low south-east wall and through the east gate. The sounds of braying and snarls fills the air in anticipation of a fresh meal.

OOC: with my war caster feat when does the reaction kick in for the opportunity attack? Do I get a attack from it and then my regular attack? Sorry still learning some of the rules of 5e.
ooc: Opportunity attack are used to target a creature that is fleeing or passing by, Basically you're looking for an opportune time to strike. So in a case like this if one of the gnolls was, say, bee-lining towards another party member and leaving itself open to you, you could use your opportunity attack on that creature. Also if a creature went from attacking you to attacking someone else, or moving toward someone else you can use that opportunity too. Does that make sense?
OOC: It does but wouldn't that also come into play if we are ready waiting as they come through the wall? My reaction to them coming in? Just asking cause war caster says as a reaction....If not its fine this isn't the reason I took war caster in the first place that was so I could cast with warhammer and shield in hand.I'm just trying to get clarity on this feat for future.
ooc: I'm fine with that. Using them coming over the wall as a trigger. I hadn't realized you were asking about something specific. I just gave you a generalization.
Mysti sees several gnolls come through the east gate and wall. She points her warhammer at the first (#1), utters a few words and a Sacred Flame descends on the beast.
OOC : with war caster do I also get a reaction attack as the enemies come into view where I can throw a spell like sacred flame
ooc: Yup, that's just part of you being you. The advantage on your first attack is strictly from Tyr looking favorably upon you for your prayers in your first encounter. You have a feeling your warhammer will strike true.
