"They're not expectations," Ria tells Jason quietly, dropping back to walk next to him for a moment. "I'm asking for your help, and for you to do your best. Nothing more. I'm...sorry if I came across as harsh earlier, I'm just nervous and...I defaulted to my training. But I shouldn't have tried to push you." Scowling, she speeds up to the front, her glare daring anyone to comment.
The party carefully clambers down the stairwell, the chill of going deeper into the earth creeping along their spines. The dark stairwell becomes difficult for some to follow, gratefully helped by those who could see in the dark (or cast light if someone decides to).
Ria sees the macabre seen first, not necessarily by light, but with her hands first. As she lands at the end of the well, her hands slides along the walls to guide her, but instead of cold granite surface...ruggedly protruding, no longer stone greets her.
Kathleen notices very well what the rogue had done.
The stairwell had welcomed them to the horror told of above. Walls were made of skulls and bones. A catacomb of a war older then everything she knew.
(Each roll a perception check or investigation check with disadvantage if no light is casted for those without dark vision.)

Kathleen says, "To die in a war fighting for friends and ideals is a glorious death. It is not something to be feared for that is the death of a hero."
Kathleen shakes her head and says, "We don't know that for sure. This was built in a bygone age. Maybe in that time and that culture, this was a heroes' grave. The burial itself doesn't matter however. What matters is that a person fought with honor and fought to protect their friends and their freedom. If anyone dies in such a battle, they are a hero in my book, regardless of how they were buried."
For a few of them (perception and investigation 1–10), the place’s overwhelming scene is all they can take in. Death, so much old, but very real death. The skeletons prior only seemed to haunt the idea that some of these were going to reach out from the walls. Luckily, Katznii knew very well they would not. The place was dead, truly dead. A mass grave and no more.
However, Jason and Kathleen could see at the edge of lantern light, the trail lead onward...and split. One to the left, another path to the right, all of which, built into the catacombs of death. That’s when they both noticed words carved into the stone floor at the fork.
Katznii, once it’s pointed out, can read:
“The casualty of pride, bloodthirst, and power will always be the innocent. Mankind will always be it’s oldest, unstoppable, ruthless enemy. A monster in the dark, creeping from within their very soul.”
Katznii reads the inscription aloud for the rest to hear. "I don't think it's a clue, but maybe more esoteric wisdom." He says, squinting to gaze down both paths. "Or, if it is a clue, it's a very obtuse one as it doesn't really offer much in the way of directional guidance. I suggest we look around for more...physical clues of where our quarry went."
Kathleen looks about the dusty, dark and sterile tomb, looking for footprints or anything. She notice the trails both had prints, booth also has small lines of chorale over a corner skull. Out of the observation though, it was clear that the trails of human disturbance of the delicate catacombs went left in the end.

Katznii is too busy adjusting to his new perceptive reality to comment, letting Ria brush past as he falls into line with the others.
Trinity gets up and catches up to the others, humming all three parts of some song or another to himself.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."

Trinity's eyebrows raise as he looks over the area.
"who, or what, do you think created this? the amount of death that had to occur for such a thing to be made... it is astonishing."
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
"War," Ria says softly. "War brings death untold." She sounds like she's quoting something.
