"Well," Mother begins to answer Usul, and then is interrupted by Gatt's yelling about his plate. She politely waits for him to finish his diatribe - she has likely heard many versions of the same - and then nods to Usul, who takes this to mean it's time to help make sure Gatt is ready for the day.
As the various residents of The Saving Point begin to get themselves ready for their day, the door opens and a large human in full plate armor enters, a nervous, quizzical look on his face, fidgeting with his hands - he isn't sure if he wants to rest one on the hilt of his sword, there's no pockets on his armor (he looks like the type that at this moment could be thinking to himself, "pockets on armor would be so functional, but ridiculous, but maybe - no, no, I need to focus"). His entire form fills the doorway, and some of the children who are leaving to go panhandle for the day struggle to squeeze past him to leave the building. He looks like he wants to say something, but he's not really sure what, and for now he is content to just scan the room, hoping someone takes notice of him.
To add.. as Usul walks across the room, you may notice ((and if not, these are things you'll notice later when we all start talking)) that he's a bit over 3 feet tall, and a bit thin, even for a gnome. His clothes are pretty old, but often mended. He's got dirty, mussed, brown hair; one green and one blue eye; and a tattoo of swirling mist on this right hand, going slightly up past his wrist.
Usul obviously notices the armored man, who wouldn't, but he's only slightly more out of place here than any (mostly the armor is the give away), so turns his focus back to Mother to let her finish or to see her reaction.
Aria's piercing emerald green eyes haven't been staring at the entrance for long when she takes notice of the armored man who has entered The Saving Point. She continues to stare in his direction, not wanting to say anything but hoping this man manages to make eye contact with her. Reaching into her pocket, she produces a small pebble and while the man is scanning the room, tosses it across the room trying to hit his armor.

Crush, lounging on the pile of furs.. would slowly stagger to his feet at the sight of the well armored man. The orc would then walk straight towards the man. Each heavy footstep shaking the floor and rattling his armor untill he was directly in front of this newcomer. Looking the man up and down, the orc would place one hand on the hilt of his flail and scratch the scruffy hair kn the side of his grayish green face with the other. "Nice armor.. must have lots of coin.. you here to fight or offer a job?" Crush asks in a deep grunting tone before, the orcs eyes locking with the mans waiting for a response.
Veryes, up early to write her morning thoughts puts another check in her book under the column "Dreams of Kobalds" Then turns to another page and scribbles in "4 Kobalds crunching on your brain, is it you or them, the ones who are insane"
Noticing the gleaming the plate, she figures there must be a good tale behind all that armor, she packs up her book and ink and pen and starts to make her way over to the stranger.
Seeing people approach the large armored man, Usul will still be listening to Mother, but also will start to focus on what is happening with him, curious about what may be happening in a place that is close to a home.
Alexandra mutters an incantation over two halves of a roasted potato to give it a salty, buttery flavor. She takes a big bite out of one as she watches the stranger in the doorway from the corner of her eye. She keeps an ear out but tries not to draw attention to herself.
The pebble plunks off of his armor and then ricochets off and hits Crush before hitting the floor and skittering off. The man looks down at where it hit him, then to Aria, then to the orc in his face. He says, "I'm not here to fight, orc, and I would suggest you look elsewhere if you're looking for blood. As for coin, of that, I may have better news for you."
As he pushes past Crush to walk into the room, Father stands behind Mother and the children, one hand on her shoulder. The man speaks to the room, but he is only looking at the two of them.
"I am here on business from a man of some importance in the city... He is looking for a lost girl. If you have any information about a girl called Anna Kelver, I can pay you if it leads to her. If you can assist our search for her in any way, my employer may also be willing to pay you if you deliver results."
Hearing the name, Mother looks up at Father and says, "Anna?". Father nods in response.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Seeing Mother and Father perk up, Usul will pay more attention and think to himself "Maybe this is way to earn some coin and help Ma and Pa out here..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Veryes pauses halfway across the room and pulls out her book thinking... I'm sure I have a note in here about an Anna somewhere... She can't find the page but sniffing a good tale she speaks up "Is this the Anna I've heard whispers of? I've been taking notes of her tale? Could you tell us more?"
Because Usul stayed with them off and on during his time in Waterdeep, he doesn't know Anna personally. He may have overheard bits and pieces from Mother and Father, but they aren't the type to really talk about other people very much, in part because it's bad for business, in part because they wouldn't want to intentionally or unintentionally endanger anyone who stays there by talking about them when they're not around. Usul is very intelligent, Anna is a relatively common name, so he may not have been able to piece two and two together always when he did overhear them talking about running into her in the city or hearing that she was OK. They wouldn't have really said more than that out in the open.
I always have my ear out for a tale. I'm using my skills as a bard to try to ply information out of him. Since my roll was so high I hoping I've sufficiently caught his attention and made him comfortable sharing his tale with me.
Veryes bats her lashes and chews on the end of her pen.
Usul will turn back to the Parents and say "If this Anna is important to you two please let us help." And will then approach the man in armor saying "We may be able to give some assistance. Anything for Ma and Pa."
Aria jumps to her feet and makes her way to where Mother and Father are standing as Usul makes his way to the armored man. She places her hand on Mother's shoulder and gives her a look of empathy.
"I'm sure wherever Anna is, she's safe. But I'm certain that may be of little comfort. Do you know where she could be?"

Something about Veryes puts him more at ease, and he takes a couple of steps towards the bard. He is extremely cautious.
"She -- Anna Kelver -- went missing from her home three nights ago, vanished in the night... I was made to understand that she had come here in the past, and thought that perhaps she had run away and come here again. None of her classmates have seen her, nor have any of the people at the clothier shop she worked at. She is a young girl... 17 years old, but small for a human, some might mistake her for a younger child if she is trying to hide. It is vitally important to my employer that she be found. I suspect it is important to some of you, too. If you do know anything that could be of assistance in my search -- or if you are willing to assist me -- please speak up."
Mother and Father look at Usul as he makes his request of them, and then at each other, listening to this man describe Anna. Father says to him, "Usul, my boy... Perhaps you could help our friend here find entry into places a man like him might not ordinarily be able to get to."
Hearing this, the man nods his head in agreement. "I have...associates in some parts of Waterdeep, but there are other places where my presence may not be welcome, and I -" he again looks at Veryes, then Aria, as she too approaches "-I fear that some darker part of the city may have taken her."
Gatt, who obviously wasn't paying attention, wanders over. "Everything's going to be okay, because we're in to help, meaning me... and my stuff. We'll get your Janna back, no problem! Anybody else?" He looks at everyone with an apologetic grin. "I hope someone wrote all that down... for, uh, posterity. Records for the future, and such. Tales of legends, still to be told, because that's how it is here in the... the... "
He starts snapping his fingers repeatedly, trying to jog his memory.
"...place... that we're in? Don't worry, this happens a lot... it'll come to me! Anyway, like I was saying fellow travelers, Miss Kelvinski will be found."
Gatt nods confidently to himself, and it's quite clear that he definitely isn't all there.
The man looks at Gatt and then at Usul and says "...Perhaps some of you will be able to approach this from...angles that I otherwise would not be able to."

Aria would have been paying attention and seen the look between Mother and Father.
I'm not sure I understand what Veryes is attempting? Is she trying to convince him that she has information? Or something else? Please clarify.
