Overhearing the two humans and elf females talking, Oni's curiosity is peaked by the female human wanting to make a game of the war. Does the battle not effect her nerves, or is she putting on an act. Does she take this battle lightly or is she overconfident? I don't trust her either way. Oni takes out the crystal from his pocket, holding on to the small amount of warmth left.
The song reaches a new crescendo as the company reaches the final refrain, and then silence falls once again. All that can be heard is the pattering of the rain on the stone of the sturdy keep.
Then all hell breaks loose.
The stone battlement shudders, and several unprepared soldiers plummet forward into the mud a hundred feet below. Three titanic siege engine, belching black fumes, have collided with the stone wall of the keep, and hundreds of kobolds stream out of the iron monsters and onto the battlement. They are followed by a fleet of hot air balloons, their kenku crews raining death onto the gathered warriors below in the form of black powder bombs. Mud and shattered rock fly through the air, blinding and killing in equal measure. Through the mud and the blood and the rain, Konstantine can be glimpsed on the battlements, roaring a battle cry as he plunges into a swarm of kobolds.
The defenders quickly rally to their leader, and hundreds of warriors rush to halt the kobold advance while those with ranged weapons wipe the rain from their eyes and unleash a volley of projectiles at the kenku balloons. The battle has commenced.
Combat: In a combat round, every adventurer will have the chance to take one action. In full-scale battles initiative rolls will be discarded, though I will revert back to the initiative system during skirmishes. Instead, each adventurer will take one action, after which I will describe the current situation and throw some attacks your way. If you engage a monster that monster will focus the majority of it's attacks on you. This sequence will repeat until the conclusion of the battle.

Bonus Action: Jill runs Old Reliable across her shoulder blade, giving almost no reaction as it tears through her skin, as if this is something she's done many times before. As the blood spills on to her blade, it goes from a deep shade of crimson to white and the air around it begins to freeze.
Action: Jill strikes out at the nearest Kobold with her sword.
Attack: 18 Damage: 5
Cold Damage from Crimson Rite:2

Oni pulls his longsword from the mud, walks forward holding up his crystal towards the Kobalds. Oni chooses the toughest looking Kobald and a loud bell rings through the air. The crystal floats above his hand and swirls with dark energy before it releases the spell. Oni looks over at Jill watching her self inflicted wound bleed and can't help but grin, I don't trust her, but I like her style.

Grum has watched those around him prepare for battle, some joining in song heartily, others somewhat reluctantly, and still others not at all. He has witnessed their interactions with each other and decides, somewhat against his usual nature, that if he must die in battle tonight, this eclectic assortment of warriors are as good as any to die alongside. In fact, looking around them once more before battle commences, he feels a strange feeling build within him: a glimmer of hope, that with these fellow members of the Last Alliance, they may yet survive this.
Grum looks up at the kenku balloons, seeing the damage they're inflicting with their black powder bombs, and looses an arrow at the nearest, hoping to slow some of that damage.
Misha perks up, and has a great smile on her face.
"To battle in His name!" she hefts up her warhammer, bangs it a few times across her shield, and lets out a mighty roar. "I will glorify you, my Lord!"
She swings her warhammer at the closest kobold. "Come! Bane has judged you unworthy!"
Warhammer Attack: 22 Damage: 3
"Just working out kinks!" she yells out with a heavy accent. "Not good start!"
Natasha could feel her heart jump to her throat seeing everyone rush into action as they did. This was the real deal. This wasn't just a small skirmish, this was an actual battle and she was going to be apart of it. She swallowed hard, and followed behind her ranger friends and shot an arrow at the kenku balloons, hoping that despite her nerves she can still hit something and be of some use.

As the battle unfolded Misha had time to reflect on her past.
It was in Banehold, on Acheron, I was created by His will and with flesh, not birthed.
From the moment I was formed, I was destined for something greater than myself. To serve Him in Glory and Conquest. The one responsible for my mental education was Headmaster Emeritus Zaedriana. She taught me many things about our home, about our Plane: about how, among many other things, Archeron is a place in the afterlife for those who followed dubious orders blindly or without question, or for those who fought for causes they never believed in. The spirits of the dead come here to fight for all eternity in futile wars that have no conclusion and offer no glory.
Since I was a small child, I would visit the first layer and watch the constant and never ending battles with awe. But I was not dead, and I was not like them. This was my home, and I was proud, but it was not my destiny. While Archeron was all I knew, it was a place where armies that fought lost causes continue to fight for all eternity never to win anything substantial, lost items gravitate here and end up being petrified in time and lie forgotten under scrapheaps, and even lost memories end up frozen in ice, never to be reclaimed. We shared our Plane with these spirits of the dead. Once, like us.
On my 16th birthday, I was allowed to leave Banehold on my own and visit the different parts of the plane that was forbidden or dangerous, and my training continued as I trained and fought with these armies, and eventually in the war against Hell. All I have known is combat, war, and conquest.
My final test was to defeat a great enemy, one who was a great threat to Acheron, and a useful pawn for Asmodeus. I travelled time and space to hunt my prey, and the death of Cora Perkins by my hands was a blow to The Lord Of Hell and a Boon to my experience, and with His Grace I accepted promotion to fulfill His Command to do His Bidding. In His Great Wisdom of Strategy I was sent to Atlas to serve His Will. After years of mental and physical training, I was Chosen.
Once again I battle in His Name. May I serve Him, and bring Him Glory.
Desperation lends strength to the arms of the defenders, and the kobold onslaught is repelled momentarily as the creatures are driven back to the base of the battlement. After only a few minutes of fighting, the ground is already stained with blood and litterd with debris, and the corpses of defender and attacker alike lie buried in the mud as the heavens continue to rain divine tears.
"All is not lost!" Konstantine yells from underneath a pile of kobold corpses.
With the kobolds momentarily slowed, the archers focus their fire on the kenku balloons and their deadly cargo. Black powder bombs cascade from the sky like deadly raindrops, shattering the stone of the keep and leveling dozens of defenders.
Kelric's blade bites deep into the neck of a nearby kobold, severing it's jugular and ending it's pitiful existence. He contributes to halting the kobold advance, driving the invaders to the edge of the battlements where they retaliate with the wild abandon that only the prospect of imminent death can produce in a creatire. Two kobolds leap at Kelric simultaneously, their blades flashing in the torchlight.
Jill cleaves a kobold in twain, and it's corpse falls into the mud, coated in a thin layer of ice. An explosion to her right blinds and deafens her momentarily, and she staggers in disoriented pain.

Misha and Oni
Misha delivers a stunning blow to a nearby kobold, but the creature, an unusually large specimen, shrugs off the blow and brings it's dagger above it's head to return the courtesy. Before it can complete it's maneuver, however, it utters a high-pitched scream and falls to it's knees, clutching at it's ears. Within moments the creature is dead, and glancing over her shoulder, Misha recognizes the white-haired man as her benefactor. Her respite is interrupted by a winged kobold which launches itself from the battlement and drops a heavy rock on her from above before it's kamikaze run is brought to an abrupt halt by a solid stone wall. Attack: 24 Damage: 7
Oni is similarly attacked by a wild-eyed kobold who has been lurking in the shadows. Attack: 22 Damage: 3 (My mistake, make that 6 damage)
Jill is extremely satisfied as she splits a Kobold in two and temporarily takes the lead. She looks over to see the Kobold Misha's fighting die as a result of the spell that the white haired man cast. That's killstealing, but it's not my kill and it keeps me in the front of this contest, so I'm not going to complain about this.As the attackers flee, Jill shouts insults towards them. "Vous vous battez comme un enfant malade!" (You fight like a sickly child).
Con Save:21
