“Not boring little one!” Misha assured her. “You story is full of selflessness and honor. Envy you, too, I not have seester or family, in real sense - many things still new to me, like how Jill’s axe talk to her without words, example. We have things in common, I love to eat too! Need much fuel.”
Misha gave you a warm smile, and you can tell she is interested in learning more very soon.
Ruin (Expanded): When you hit a creature with Ruin, the creature's internal system is ignited with infernal fire. Immediately before each of the creature's turns, it takes 1d4 fire damage. This damage is not cumulative. The Devil's Deal: Before you make an attack with Ruin, you may choose to activate this feature. You immediately take 1d6 necrotic damage, and the next time you hit a creature with Ruin, you deal an additional 2d6 fire damage. You may only activate this feature once per long rest.
(Jill, if the skill check uses Intelligence or Charisma, roll advantage and I'll use it if applicable.)
"And that's not all." Flibbertigibbet says. "See, there's this thing where you sell me your soul in exchange for fire powers. Once I have consumed enough souls, I am freed from my prison. I steal your soul, you get to set stuff on fire, and everybody's happy. That's what I call a win-win situation.
When you arrive back at the encampment, preparations to depart are well underway. Carts are being loaded with provisions and personal possessions, and several carts are already rattling north on the road known as the Beggar's Way. The mayor runs over to you, his cherubic face red with exertion. "There you are!" He exclaims, mopping his sweaty head. "I've a proposition to make to you. We're headed to Avalon, but the roads are dangerous. Orc and goblin hunting parties which have crossed the Screaming Mountains prowl the countryside, and we have no warriors to defend us if we are attacked on the road. Would you escort us as far as the Avalonian border? You would be well compensated for your trouble, I assure you." He clasps his hands and awaits your reply.
Don't push it. I'll carry you around, but I'm not selling my soul to you. You're not someone I wish to spend eternity with. You should be satisfied with our current arrangement.
Jill listens intently to the mayor's request. "We will help you. We could not save your village, but we can at least protect you on the way to Avalon so that you may rebuild your lives."

"Do not trip, chocolate chip." she said, nonchalantly, to the Mayor. "We happy to escort your little village of small people to Avalon. Did not see mill made of cheese here, but excited to see mountains that scream."
Jill backs up to Misha and whispers in her ear. "That's just what they're called. I do not think that the actually scream. Or at least I hope not. It would be deafening if they did."

Misha turns to you as you reveal this information, looking you dead in the eye - having a combined look of deep thinking and disappointment. After you speak, she leans in and whispers back in your ear. "Hm." She finally says, in a very hushed tone. "Really? Probably should hev paid more attention in Fortress of Academics. I guess too busy thinking of fighting, ya?" She makes a valiant attempt to snort in a laugh instead of her usual boisterous one, in a polite attempt to not deafen you.
Looking at Natasha,”it seems we’ve arrived, I’ll save my story for another time.” Oni looks towards the whole group, ”I’d prefer to take up position towards the back of the carts. I’ll watch behind us and call ahead if I see trouble.”
Grum thinks about hopping up onto a cart and riding it for a better view, but then decides it might be better to scout ahead and watch for threats that way.
"I'll be off the road to the left, just up ahead. I'll stay within earshot though, so if anything attacks from the rear, shout loud!"
Jill backs up to Misha and whispers in her ear. "That's just what they're called. I do not think that the actually scream. Or at least I hope not. It would be deafening if they did."
"That's what they all say, but in the end no mortal can resist my offer." Flibbertigibbet falls silent.
Jill backs up to Misha and whispers in her ear. "That's just what they're called. I do not think that the actually scream. Or at least I hope not. It would be deafening if they did."
The Screaming Mountains derive their name from the way the northern winds whistle through the irregular rock formations, creating a sound similar to humanoid screaming.
Before Oni splits from the group to watch the back of the carts he looks to Natasha, ”we have another long walk ahead of us so if you want to hear my story I’ll be in the back. Keep in mind it’s not a happy one, though I doubt most people’s are.” He gives her a smile and walks away. As he walks away he uses Mask of Many Faces to disguise himself in his usual human form.
Natasha pouted slightly at not being able to think up questions to ask Oni, but had thanked Kleric for sharing his story, even if the other seemed that it was lackluster. Wonder if he'd be willing to show me how to sail! I've never been on a boat before...
The rangers ears perked up at the mayor's offer, Natasha nodding in agreement with Jill. "¡Dejanoslo a nosotros! Leave it to us, we'll protect you all, no problem!"
Despite Natasha wanting to be in the front for no reason in particular, she decided it would be best to be near the back as range was her specialty, so she took up Oni's offer and walked beside him. She was glad that he was willing to talk, but made sure to tell him to only tell the bits he wanted her to know, if there was something he didn't want to tell, she would very much understand. "I just don't want you thinking I'm forcing you to talk, you know?" She gives a small laugh and continues. "What made you say your story isn't a happy one? What happened?"

”When I was born my mother died from the trauma. My Tiefling form was unusual to my family line, and my father hated me. He kept me in a cellar for 10 years feeding me scraps, beating me, and filing down my horns. I eventually escaped and wandered the streets, eating what I could and stealing what I needed. I eventually got caught stealing by a couple men and they grabbed me, told me they’d take me somewhere where I could be better. They took me to a church and wouldn’t let me leave. I was again locked in darkness, performing chores and being degraded. The one thing I found comfort in was the teachings. They taught me to embrace my darkness and embrace my pain. I don’t know how much more you want to hear. I think I’ll save the rest for later, it can be difficult bringing up the past.” Oni was so focused on remembering and retelling his story he didn’t notice he had been holding his crystal with a clenched fist while it was shining a bright crimson red through the gaps in his hand. As soon as he noticed he dropped it into his pocket and looked to Natasha with a faint smile, ”I hope you know that your kindness is inspiring. I have a lot to learn from you.”
As Misha walked, she marveled at how blue the sky was. It was beautiful, so unlike the sky back home at Banehold, on Acheron, where fire and red was all that could be seen. The war with Hell had gone on now for many millennia, and life on the Plane of War was adapted accordingly. When the Genesis Chambers spewed her like an organic tumor coming out of a wet, puss filled womb, all she knew was that her sole purpose in life would be for something different - Taetanicus told her from the moment she reached the Age of Comprehension - you will not be a pawn. You have a different purpose.
"For more than one age, Bane, The Great Emperor General, Lord of War, Lord of Generals sits on The Great Throne in Banehold, on the Plane of Acheron. He is the Master of War by the Will of the Gods, and master of a trillion souls by the might of His Command. He is a mighty figure writhing with power from his seat of glory. He is the Lord Commander of all that he surveys, and all that is sacrificed in His Name, so that him, and his Great Technology, may never truly die."
Natasha's demeanor changed from cheerful back to one of melancholy, hearing what Oni had been through, but ultimately kept herself silent for him to finish. No child should go through that, the son of a *****! I hope he's six feet under! Those guys too! How could anyone do that to another being? So what if he was a little different?! No one should be treated that way!Similar to Oni, she had been clenching her fist tightly around her bow, but loosened it having noticed the tiefling's grip on his crystal.
"Well, thank you, Oni, really, for the compliment and for trusting me enough to tell me your story, but... I hope I'm not prying too much, a-and feel free to decline answering! But... Is the reason why you change your visage so much because you're afraid of what people might think of you? Is... Is someone after you?"

Oni’s smile grows as he listens to Natasha. ”Thank you, I appreciate that. I feel like I’ve never been myself for my whole life, so when I become someone else, it feels normal. When no one else is around I will work on being more myself. Thank you Natasha.” His smile slowly fades and he looks towards the ground as he walks.
Oni walks a little faster to catch up with Natasha, ”what would you like to know?”
