Alesandaire, you look around, but you don't notice much out of the ordinary at the back of the caravan except a large grouping of boulders, about the size of a house altogether, about 15 feet to east of the trail.
Mobya, as you try to pull the horse to a stop, it angrily stomps its feet splashing a bit of mud on your clothes, but you manage to halt the front wagon as Silv'ar indicated. You see him move forward, attempting stealth but fighting the sucking sounds of the mud on his boots.
Silv'ar, as you are about to round the bend your foot pulls a large glop of mud up and it falls to splash in a puddle: You hear loud barking and snarling follow coming from around the corner, and another growl but it seems to come from another creature. As you peek around a tree trunk, you see 3 bulky, pale grey humanoid creatures huddled around some sort of carrion, and a large two-headed dog tied to a tree near them, they are about 40-45 feet down this road. The dog appears to be lunging against the ropes in your direction, and one of the bulky creatures lifts up its head, cocking it to the side listening. A second turns to the dog and lets out a loud growl at it, but the dog does not calm. (you can make a history or nature check to try and recognize more about them.)
I try to gain as quick knowledge as I can before returning to the party and informing them off what I have seen and quickly grasping both daggers in my hand.
(With a 19), you do recognize these creatures, though you would be quite surprised to find them on the surface, much less in daylight....very strange indeed.
You recognize the three humanoids as grimlock and the two-headed canine as a death dog.
And you get the feeling that at least the dog has noticed you....
As you begin to back away, you see the growling grimlock wack the dog with a club of large bones and bark some command in an mostly unfamiliar language with strange structure.
As I slowly retreat back to the party and inform them of all the details of what I have seen. I suggest we hide the caravans behind the boulders 15 feet east of the track.
The 6 of us should then head towards the Grimlock and death dog, 2 left flank, 2 right flank and 2 head on.
you realize that, while it made sense in your mind, there isn't really a clear way to move the wagons off the muddy road. The forest and rocks stay pretty tight past the main path.
@Mourn?Morn? (With an 18) you remember faerie tales of strange cannibalistic humanoids perverted by their worship of other creatures that dwell in deep deep caves, in a place called the Underdark. You remember particularly scary stories about these creatures sometimes coming to the surface at night to find a meal. The stories usually said they liked tender flesh best (which is why parents would tell their kids to stay in at night).
Speaking to group: "The halfling is right, we need to keep moving, if there are more of them, we cant risk being near them at nightfall. I favor attacking"
*whispering to group* i don't think they have noticed us yet, or they would have already came for us. maybe we can encircle them and catch them off guard as Silv'ar suggested
*Whispering to the group with a sort of musical hum* Back on the farm when my father used to have a wolf issue he would always use a sheep as bait. Worked 100% of the time..... for us, for the sheep more like 20%. *Raising my shoulders and eyebrows in a contemplative look*
Mobya looks at the Merchant with a mix of incredulity and exasperation. She gets down, ties the reigns to a large piece of log by the road, and grabs hold of her scimitar. She looks to her travelmates and nods her head towards the grimlocks.
Agozur will stand out at the front of the group and in a fit of excitement exclaim "We need to slay these foul beast... We are a strong few but we must defeat them, if not for ourselves for the next people who decide to journey down the road" placing his rather large firbolg hand on Mobya's shoulder "This little one is prepared for her destiny." before turning to set off.
Alastair turns to follow Agozur and Morn into battle as fragmented memories flood his head of past battles and gruesome injuries he's witnessed and taken care of as throughout multiple combats.
"We must attack from the front first and then surprise them on the sides"
I head back through the trees to the left side to flank them using stealth. With my two daggers in hand I wait quietly for the others to take their positions.

The caravans have to stay. However do we agree to hide the merchants who hired us. Or do we continue forward to attack.
(Patiently waits for response from group)

speaking to the group "I think we can handle this small group, but what i wonder why they are here and if there are more"
i use history skill to try and recall more about Grimlock

Speaking to group: "I say let's just attack them and let's get to our destination. I want the money and tired of this muddy path"

Mobya: even if they haven’t noticed us yet, if we just hide behind the boulders we risk them finding us later by our scent. That dog has two noses!
The Merchant will chime in at this point saying, "Well, Hwaet 'er ya' standin' 'ere fer? Ya' tinkin' dat Imma payin' ya ter hied?"

Following Agozur, i march off in the direction of the Grimlock
Saying to the group, "If the dog is tied up take out the the others first."
Morn will charge as soon as he sees the Grimlock
