"If those horses belong to our employer, what are the odds he remains alive? As much as I would like to put this place behind me, perhaps it is in our best interest to investigate the trail."
Sven paces around impatiently. "Well Petros, thinking that way then you should also realize that if he isn't still alive then we won't get paid upon completing delivery. If he isn't still alive then what reason would they have to drag away his body? I think that a couple of dead bodies with a couple of dead horses is a far more effective trap than just a couple of dead horses!"
"You're right. We need to see where this trail goes. It's looking likely our employer didn't make it to his destination."
"But we can't just tie up the horses here or some new boneheads will likely come along and take 'em, and the supplies, too. Another outcome in which we don't get paid. We need to hide 'em off-trail."
"And I'm not exactly excited about traipsing up a goblin trail like we were the lords of Neverwinter. Probably another ambush on the other end."
Brats clears one of the horses off the trail and moves over to the group. "What if we move the cart deep into the forest? If we move it deep enough, it should be hidden enough."
You all can assume that if you move the cart off the roadway, it'll be hidden out of sight enough for passing travellers. You note that you have not seen anyone else on the trail since you have been on the trail. The goblin trail is wide enough to travel along it in a single file line, as far as you can tell.
On the other hand, it's about a 4 hour trip to Phandalin if you're wanting to deliver the supplies to Bathen's Provisions.
"So it is settled then? We follow the path to see if we can find our Patron?" Sven walks over and starts to move the cart into the edge of the woods, making sure that it can't be spotted from the road. "We must hurry because Ny is correct, I don't think any of us want to be out here too late into the dark."
"Before we hide the cart. Are there any supplies we want to 'borrow'? We leave with the intention of returning, yet, only the gods know where this trail will lead us. Well, the gods and four dead goblins and they haven't been very loquacious since our initial encounter!"
Brats checks his person and his backpack, making sure everything he needs is accounted for. "I believe I have everything I nee.... OH WAIT!" Brats shouts before jogging over to one of the goblin archers and grabbing his arrow out of him. He returns to the group with arrow in hand. "Now I have everything!" He looks toward Ny. "Ny, do you have everything you need?"
[OOC: I know I don't need to keep track of my ammunition, but I will do some things for role-play purposes.]
"It looks as though we have no choice. We need to go into the forest and look for them." Ny looks to Brats. "As long as I have my shield I have everything I need." She picks up her pack and slings it over one shoulder. With her shield on her back and mace on her side she starts off towards were pops said the path was. "Shall we? "

Brats nods and looks toward the path. "I don't think I should be in front. Would one of you like to take lead?" Brats looks toward the others hoping one would step up.
[OOC: How obvious are the tracks, are they easily follow-able or do they require some focus? If they are easy to see, I will want to stay in back, if not, I can go up front to trace the tracks.]

There is a beaten path through the woods. The path forces you to travel in a single file line, so give me a marching order. As far as tracks go, anyone with proficiency in survival can attempt to discern more about the tracks.
Ny looks back to Brats. "My skillset lies elsewhere, I am not very strong our tough. I am willing to try and lead us if no one else does, however I do not believe it would go very well."
Brats places an arm in front of Ny and goes in front of her. "I will go before you, we need to keep you safe so that you can keep us safe. Chances are if they make it to you, there won't be much we can do!" Brats says with a chuckle. "In the meantime, let me see what I can discern from these tracks." Brats moves over to the goblin tracks, gets down low and inspects them.
[OOC: Survival Check: 17 Additional 2 to this because I believe Natural Explorer applies here, making it 19. Natural Explorer Benefit: While tracking other creatures, you also learn their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.]
Sven murmers to himself "I'm not great at following tracks, but if it is making sure that the little devils stay as far from Ny as possible then I can take lead. Goblins are notorius for making things difficult so if anyone is better at following tracks and spotting dangers than they can feel free to go in front of me. Either way I will keep watch for the perils that may lie in wait."
"We'll see what our gnome friend can smell of these tracks. I'm no tracker, but I can follow a trail if it doesn't branch or peter out. I'm also quieter than the lot of us together, and I have knack for spotting danger. How about I quietly scout ahead aways? If I'm not back in an hour, come find me. If the trail becomes confused, I'll turn around, so Brats here can have a closer look without my smelly feet messing up the tracks. Objections?"
Brats starts laughing then gets up. "I think I can discern a goblin scent from your feet, but that sounds fine, but don't try and be a hero. You come get us if something doesn't quite seem right, okay?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Petros falls in line behind Nyana. Not having to pay too much attention to what is in front of him, Petros allows his mind to wander. He begins to hum a tune he recently heard performed by Sir Chadwick Kroeger from the far side of the Nickel province. Those songs always seem to find a way inside of poor Petros' head. Humming he scans either side of the trail for anything of interest.
OOC: Certain spells require Material to use. Can I assume I have that material or do I have to find it? For example, I need wychwood or glowworm for my Dancing Lights spell.
Ny lets out a sigh or relief. "It is comforting to know you all have my back." She turns to Pops. "I believe it would be wise from someone quicker and quieter to move ahead while we follow at a slower pace. We should stay close enough to be of help but be sure to not draw attention to ourselves." Ny places a hand on pops shoulder. "May your feet be light and your senses sharp."
[OOC: For the next minute (Not sure how that works out of combat. DM will have to clarify) you can roll an extra 1d4 with an ability check. You can do this after you have already rolled to help boost a bad roll or before if you wanna try and guarantee a good roll.)]

[OOC: It is my understanding that you can cast the spell as long as you can provide ONE of the components needed. Dancing lights is a spell that can be used with Verbal, Gesture or Material, so as long as you can speak or gesture, you don't NEED a material. A spell's components are the physical requirements you must meet in order to cast it. Each spell's description indicates whether it requires verbal (V), somatic (S), or material (M) components. If you can't provide one or more of a spell's components, you are unable to cast the spell.]
