Cliste whispers back in gnomish. "Yeah, please don't freak me out poking at doors I tell you not to. I so wanted to tell your father about that like a silly little tattle tale. So I also did not want things to overrun you before you were ready when it really was my fault." She smiles at him. "I really do like you and your faith is strong. I should know better that you would have poked the door anyway." She laughs as she rises from a kneeling position and puts her hand crossbow away.
She switches to common. "So let's see if this little room is empty for sure before we rest if need be. It has two metal doors I need to check before we proceed through either."
She slowly moves to check everything out. (Investigation of the skeleton room - 9+5=14)

Lerikyn laughs and follows her into the room as she conducts her search and explains his actions, "We needed to establish that nothing untoward would burst through that door. Of course it was a collapsed chamber, but who's to say there were no carrion crawlers or a nest of giant spiders on the other side. Luckily, it was nothing but a boulder. I admit I was hoping for a half-buried chest."
Cliste shakes her head. "Since there is water seeping in. I was expecting a swirling bath of rocks and water to end all the fun too soon." She picks over where the skellies had originally been laid to rest.
She finds a total of twelve silver coins in the same octagonal shape as the gold ones she found in the rubble pile. She holds one up so Lerikyn and the others can see it. "I think they put these on the eyelids of the dead when they put them to rest. As for anything else, nothing is in this place beside the debris of the clothes and normal items they had been buried with."
She looks around some more. "If we want to rest a bit, it might be better in the larger chamber and bottleneck anything that comes along in the hallway. Leaving the doors open we'll hear if these open." She points at one in the south wall and another in the west wall.
With the battle finished, Kjørynreis laughs loudly. "Ahaha! That was a glorious combat!" he exclaims joyfully. "I needed that battle."
Scanning the room the skeletons came from, he responds to Cliste's remarks. "Coins over the eyes of the dead? My people practiced such an ideology. Such practice seemed to do no good against whatever dark forces are at work here..." He grimaces at the realization. "In either case, I don't need to rest. Does anyone need healing? I am a paladin, afterall." He turns to Rea specifically, looking her over for any wounds. "Were you injured at all?"
Cliste quickly reacts before the boys can play some more as she finishes her investigated both doors. (Rolled nat 20 on both amazingly enough)
She points to the west door. "That one is warm to the touch and I can smell sulfur. The door appears to be sturdy enough and should open all right."
She then points to the south door. "That one seems to have nothing interesting beyond it, but it will probably fall off its hinges when opened. I'm not sure which way it will want to fall since it is that bad."
"I'll let you guys pick which one to open first."

He nods his head. "Stand back. These hinges are going to be loud, and I don't know what is on the other side." Moving towards the iron door on the west, he readies his shield [taking the Dodge action], and opens the door.
The hinges are stuck shut with rust, but you can push the door open with enough effort. It grinds and groans, but slowly opens to reveal a crumbling hall, 15' in length, with another iron door on the other side. The hall feels quite warm and you see heat ripples radiating from the door.

"Well that don't look good," Lerikyn says, gesturing for Cliste to have a look. He stays clear of the hallway in case a burst of flame comes barreling through and cautions her as she moves forward, "Be careful now... we don't want you roasted on the first day."
"Not like there wasn't an attempt at burial already." Cliste laughs as she slowly moves forward. She can feel the sweat beading up and starting to soak her clothes as she does her best to investigate the door and possible heat source. She even tries to see if the metal is hot enough to glow in any of its weaker spots.

The smell of sulfur and burning coal intensifies as Cliste descends the hall. Her sweat spatters on the floor in large droplets. The hall its self seems typical for the area, right down to the age and condition - she finds nothing unusual about it.
Turning her attention to the door, she notes the heat source appears to be coming from somewhere on the other side, though it does not seem to be hot enough to have deformed or discolored the door at all. She sees no sign of traps or mechanisms, though she does note the etched figure of an anvil on its top panel.

Kjørynreis feels the wave of heat blast across his face as she opens the first door. Watching her move down the hallway, he sees the drips of sweat fall from her glistening skin. Wow. She's hot. But he wasn't about to let Rea know such thoughts: to him, women were always unpredictable.
About to offer some words of encouragement, he stifles the action, knowing full well she had done this sort of thing before. Instead, he turns to Lerikyn, and asks, "How uhh... how long have you two known each other now? Is she really as good at this as she seems?"
Lerikyn chuckles, "Lets just say the typical burglar gets stuck in my father's tower long enough to die of dehydration. She made it to my father's study and found that book she carries. I've known her for about a month, but I'd have no other burglar with us. She is exceptional at detecting traps, especially those of arcane nature." He snorts and adds, "She's also a bit thick in the head... which I guess is a good thing." He nods to himself.
"I heard that." Cliste laughs as she finishes her investigation. She comes back pretending to reach for Lerikyn's cloak as if she might use it to wipe her sweaty face and then uses her hood instead. "I shall look and smell so wonderful by the time we rest tonight." She chuckles as she moves further from the door that leads into the hotter hallway.
"Okay, no traps or anything odd about the door. It has an anvil on it, so I'm thinking a forge, but not sure what would keep it burning to the point of that much heat when everything else has been centuries old. Whatever is producing the heat is not causing the door to melt. The door is just blocking the even greater heat in that room, which I'm not sure how it will flow when the door is opened."

He nods his head in understanding. Looking around, he notes that all eyes are on him, and the realization of his new role dawns on him. "I'm the official door-opener, aren't I?" Receiving affirmation, he laughs loudly, and taunts the group. "You all are afraid of a door! It's a good thing no one is watching, because they would be calling you pathetic! AHAHA!!"
His laughter dying down, he moves through the blazing hallway with confidence, and knocks on the door, turning back to the party with a big smile on his face. Sarcastically, he calls out, "Hello!? Anybody home?"
Silthy watches with feigned disinterest as the door opens. She picks someone nearby to stick close to in case any danger becomes apparent.
"Have any of you guys done this before, plumb dungeons, I mean? Me, I'd rather be eyeing a fat mark. Prison cells don't normally have things that want to kill you. But they don't have trusty companions either, so that'd be a bonus." She says to no one in particular, taking a moment to surreptitiously see if anyone was paying attention.
The door grinds open to reveal another medium-sized room (15'x15') with an iron door on the far side. The heat is visible and pulses outward to wash over everyone in the group. The north and south sides of this room are stacked high with the rubble of old iron shelves, now twisted and broken, leaving only a 3' wide corridor to cross the room and reach the opposing door.
The smell of sulfur is almost overpowering and there's a hazy hint of smoke in the air.

Lerikyn pipes up from behind, "I say we leave this door where it is." He laughs, "I doubt anything valuable will be found behind it in solid form. To the next door, then?"
Kjørynreis grunts, visibly displeased at the party's lack of courage. "Whatever. We'll go check the other door then." he mutters, turning away from the sulfur and heat and heading back through the corridor into the original room. If Silthy said anything, Kjørynreis was either ignoring her or he didn't hear anything.
Silthy frowns. "Courage or a lack of it has nothing to do with it. We should be thorough to find everything of value. I don't imagine that it will hurt us to be methodical."

Lerikyn examines one of the coins as the others discuss healing. Once finished, he pockets a coin and gestures over at the metal door to the west.
"This one looks particularly sturdy," he says, "Shall we open it Kjørynreis?" He gives the door a poke for emphasis.
