Timber turns to the dwarf, "How about we head over to that balcony? This place seems special, so we might see the flower we are after."
As Timber starts walking, wary of the statues and how lifelike they look, he decides to be a little more careful and starts to sneak past them, whilst also trying to see if there is anything special about them.
Keyleth makes another strong hit and the mantrap plant falls dead.
*Meanwhile*
Timber takes a closer look at the statues. On the bigger one the face is completely destroyed. Gouged across its back in are the words “Forgive me.”
Looking at the smaller statue scratched into the floor next to him are the following words, in: “Once a thief, forever a slave!”
Standing on the balcony Timber and Ransyl over look the water.
The water in this pool is unusually clear. A dozen or more large fish, turtles, and lizards swim lazily through it, and waterbirds paddle on the surface. Their ripples obscure something on the bottom of the pool, so you can’t quite make it out, but the bottom appears to be blanketed in oddly shaped stones.
Bits of shattered stone rest atop a square dais that rises from the middle of the pool — evidence of a sculpture that once stood atop it. Part of the sculpture lies in the pool, west of the dais: a large stone face staring up at the sky.
With the plant defeated [and, I assume, no black orchid in sight?], Keyleth looks up to where Timber and Ransyl were to give them a thumbs up, but seeing that they are no longer there and that the roof of the structure where they were perched has collapsed, urges Kirinar to return with her to find them in case they are in danger.
[presuming they are able to make their way to them without incident] Seeing the statue with the odd inscription, she remarks, "Those are odd inscriptions..."
[Does the handwriting appear to match between the two inscriptions?]
Keyleth and Kirinar search the garden area (5d) and find no black orchid. They climb up onto the terrace between 5d and 5b where Dr A is resting. As they attempt to go inside the ruined palace (4) where Timber and Ransyl have fallen into they find the iron door stuck and cannot get in.
Dr A can roll a Con save (DC10) to see if he has recovered from being poisoned.

Dr A's Saving throw = 15
"Ah but that feels better, nothing a good cup of tea and a quick lie down wont fix. Now what sort of trouble has that damned cat got itself into this time. They're the same the world over, always wandering into places they really shouldn't go - sometimes I wonder how the race has survived?" he mutters to himself as walks up to where Keyleth and Kirinar are examining the door. "Perhaps if we all push on it at once we can force it open"he suggests. "If not" he says reaching into his backpack and pulling out his Horn of Blasting"we could use this, ah but I don't think I would be want to be on the otherside, it will certainly draw attention to our presence and may damage, or even collapse, the structure completely!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kirinar eyes the door, running his hand across it and giving it a few harp pushes in various places to check for any weak spots. "Right. On the count of two. Ready? One...TWO!!" The fighter rams his shoulder into the edge of the door, pushing hard with his legs and body, while Keyleth and Dr. A lend their own strength and force...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The three of you heave on the door and Kirinar's shoulder causes the door to come loose. At the same time the weak wall crumbles and the impact causes a portion of the ceiling to collapse
The three of you need to make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw and take 6 in bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Timber turns to his new companion, "So what do you think? Do we head down to the pool? But you are right, the detail of those statues is unnerving! Do you really think they could have been people turned to stone?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dr A attempts to retract his head into his shell to minimise the damage (14) but is not quite fast enough as a lump of masonry hits him on the head knocking his spectacles askew. "Next time you stupid old fool check the lintel to see if it will fall when you try and push open a jammed door" he mutters to himself.
The party is now together inside the ruined palace.
Looking around you see what the others saw earlier,
An 18-foot-tall stone statue of a Chultan warrior in splint armor, wearing a helmet festooned with tyrannosaurus teeth and bearing a shield of intricately patterned leopard hide, towers over the chamber and looms above a wide, octagonal cistern. The chamber echoes with the sound of rainwater dripping from the ceiling into the gaping pit. The face of the giant warrior statue is obliterated by deep gouges, but the rest of the statue remains intact. Clutched in the statue’s right hand is a stone spear, and resting on the floor beneath it is a clay urn. North of the statue is an open balcony overlooking a flooded garden.
Standing to one side of the giant warrior is another statue, this one much smaller. Exquisitely lifelike, it depicts a man reaching for the urn, his face turned toward the balcony. In his lifeless eyes, you see terror.
Stone steps ascend along the curved wall to the level of a second floor, but that floor is almost entirely collapsed. Someone’s been up there, however, because a message of some sort is scrawled across the domed ceiling.
Climbing up onto the second floor you can read the message scrawled there.
The message states, “True love, faithful general, safe will you rest in Nangalore eternal. None will disturb you while I live. Such is my vow of penance, and for my sins I cannot die.”
You also now recall a rumor your heard earlier in the Port
Chult had many kings and queens, but none more beautiful than Queen Zalkoré. Thousands of warriors killed and died for her, but the only memorial of her reign is the garden palace of Nangalore, which lies near the eastern shore of the River Olung, north of Lake Luo.
The large statue portrays Thiru-taya. Zalkoré had it commissioned out of appreciation and affection. Nangalore was built to honor Zalkoré, a vain Omuan queen. Its builder, Thiru-taya, was Zalkoré’s foremost general and consort. In their time, the garden was called Ka-Nanji, the Hanging Garden of Dreams. Ka-Nanji was a palatial retreat from the intrigues and pressures of Omu, and the beautiful, tiered garden was praised as a worthy tribute to the queen.

Dr A moves to a distance of about five feet from the Urn. Is it covered in writing or glyphs or pictograms of some sort (Investigation - 9). If so can he read them?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dr A then turns to look at the statue(?) of the man reaching for the urn. Can he determine if Ransyl is right. Is it fact a human turned to stone or simply a very lifelike statue carved as a warning to perhaps not touch the urn or its contents (Investigation - 6)
