Keyleth will try standing on the pedestal, and ask one of the others to use a torch/light spell to cast her shadow at various angles onto the floor/walls/statues. If that doesn't turn up anything, she'll circulate to the statues and inspect them, checking behind them for possible hidden passages, etc.
OoC: Keyleth dumped her torches in Port Nyanzaru to save weight, since she has darkvision and a not-great carrying capacity, but I think everyone else has them, and Dr. A has the light spell. I assumed someone would have complied with Keyleth's earlier requests for a light. But I guess no one actually posted to that effect.
"Let's first try casting my shadow onto the pedestal," Keyleth says. If that doesn't do or reveal anything, she'll try standing on the pedestal and ask Ransyl to circulate around her with the torch, casting her shadow at various angles. And then if that doesn't show anything, she'll circulate to the statues, using the torch to illuminate them, first to inspect them from the front, and then trying to get behind each one to cast its shadow toward the middle of the room.
As you make careful search of the room you note some interesting things.
When you further search the pedestal, you discover the outline of a stone hatch on its upper surface.
As you maker your way around the room casting shadows and the like you notice that when you hold a light source close to the statue with the head of a bat, a crawlway appears in its shadow. The crawlway, which is 2 feet wide and 3 feet high goes behind the statue.
(Tell me if you do anything further in the room.)
When you make your way down the crawlway you enter a stone cell. A strange grid is etched into the far wall of this stone cell.
OoC: Does Keyleth see anything familiar about the grid? Either the 7x15 dimensions or the textures of the tiles themselves? Do they bear any resemblance to the mosaic found outside this room, or to the plaque on the pedestal?
"Hmm..." Keyleth says, her face scrunched up looking at the grid and pondering what it could mean. She thinks aloud, but also to offer her thoughts to her companions, "I'm guessing the dark tiles are a clue to something. They could represent safe --- or unsafe --- places to step on a tiled floor... but we haven't seen a floor that looks like that. Yet, anyway. The pedestal out there seemed to have a hatch in it. Probably we need to figure out a way to open it... but what could this pattern have to do with that?"
She shrugs. "What if..." and attempts to press on the darker tiles.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dr A looks at the grid. “Ah but it would seem that the first pair have a combined value of ‘5’, the second one has a value of ‘15’, the third set have a combined value of ‘30’, while the fourth one has a value of ‘60’ which is a sequence of sorts. However I don’t think it continues after that.” Can he discern any further pattern - Perception = 21
Keyleth scrunches her eyes and looks up and to the right. "A hundred and five," she says, to no one in particular. "Be right back," she follows up, before crawling back through the crawlspace into the room with the pedestal, standing in front of it and staring at the inscription, counting.
"A hundred and five!" she exclaims, excitedly.
Going back into the crawlspace, she begins reciting the letters of the inscription, pointing to each tile in order, saying the letters that align with the darker tiles more loudly.
"Nothing. Well maybe it's not our eyes we need to cover. The statues? There are six of us and six statues, right? How about each of us go stand behind a statue and cover its eyes?"
"Wow, Keyleth - you're good! OK - but I still get the frog-man!" the fighter moves back to the statue room and prepares to cover the frog's eyes with a scrap of cloth...
You each move to a statue and cover its eyes in some way. When you have all of their eyes covered the pedestal in the center of the room makes a noise and a cube shaped stone appears on the pedestal. It's a stone cube 3 inches on a side and engraved with images of an eblis. The cube weighs half a pound.

There are no light sources in the room. There is dim light filtering in from the open doors.
Other than the pedestal and the alcoves with the statues there is nothing else in the room.

Investigation 9
Watching the group try to work out how to activate the riddle, Timber speaks up. "What if we create our own source of light?"
Yes, can one of you create a light source?

Putting your heads together you wonder if there is a pattern or similarity between this grid and the carving on the pedestal in the other room.

Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?
