Moving through the ruined city, alert for dangers, the party moves west and passed several buildings. Eventually they get to a rather large building and find a derelict market hall that stands on the street corner ahead. Frayed cloth awnings hang in tatters above a broad alley lined with stalls.
"An old market...wonder if there's anything left that's worth anything? Of course, it could be a good spot for an ambush, too, so be ready..." Kirinar walks carefully down the street, looking in the buildings and stalls as he goes.
As you make your way through the empty stalls of the market you stop suddenly as you find a trap.
Keyleth spots the trap which appears to be a hidden, spring-loaded catapult and its triggering mechanism which is a tripwire. You avoid triggering it and the trap is easily disarmed by Keyleth.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well that's interesting," Keyleth says. "This place looks abandoned... but a trap suggests something being protected. I'm guessing there's more here than meets the eye."
Keyleth begins cautiously circulating the market, crossbow at the ready, continuing to look out for creatures, additional traps, or possibly trap doors?
You continue making your way through the bazaar. You find a couple additional traps that are easily avoided or disarmed. The workings of the traps reminds Keyleth of something. It then comes to her. These traps are similar to those they saw in the old temple that the black wyvern lived in outside of Mire's Edge.
Kobolds!
As if in confirmation to her thoughts you spot a kobold disappearing down a well-hidden staircase on the outskirts of the bazaar.
"Wasn't expecting them here! But the traps are definitely their style...best to face them head on rather than letting ourselves get surprised by them!" He also raises his shield, standing next to Ransyl to form a barrier of muscle and steel, then nods at his dwarf friend to start walking towards the staircase. "Fall in behind us and be ready for more traps and an ambush!" he calls behind him without taking his eyes off of the area in front of him.
Following the where the kobold you head down some stairs into an old cellar below the market. You pass a few other stairs leading back up but they are blocked by piles of furniture and other debris. Ahead you come to a larger room. Guttering torches cast dim light under the arches of a wine cellar roughly 20 feet square. The cracked ceiling is 8 feet high. In an alcove on the far side of the room, a pile of treasure twinkles in the torchlight. Kobolds gather around it.
About 12 kobold's stand between you and the pile of treasure, 10 look about the same while a couple look a bit different. You also see another kobold laying on the pile of treasure and coins. He wears a torn, 6-foot-long tapestry of a macaw decorated with garnet beads
"Ransyl, if you and I can stand in the passage to block any kobolds from getting by, but still let the others shoot around us, let's form our shield wall there and take care of these pesky critters!" He will stand his ground, shield up and magical ykwla in hand, ready to attack any kobolds that come close and using his reactions to either Parry or Protect others.

"Hey, a little cube thingy," Keyleth remarks. "I wonder what this is for... It must be important after all that...rigamarole..."
OoC: Does she see anywhere in this building where the cube might fit, as a key, for example?

“Agreed, maybe it acts as a key for those doors.” Ransyl make his way across the room.
Investigation 4
Timber turns to Dr.A. "Hey Doc, that looks like it would be right up your alley!"
Looking around you do not see anywhere that the cube would fit and act as a key.
"Well, I guess we should hang onto this and keep exploring the city. Maybe we'll find a use for it later," Keyleth says, tossing the cube in her bag.
OoC: How about making our way west along the perimeter of the city, toward (15)?

Ransyl raises up his shield, grasping tightly to his spear with the other. He looks around at the others, pointing to the edge of the bazaar.

Timber nods in agreement and falls in behind the fighter, scanning for any sign of the kobolds.
Keyleth follows as well. "Kobolds! Just like old times," she thinks to herself.
