“A wise question.” Ransyl whispers back, “I guess it’s a matter of risk. Do we risk our lives now, or do we not - taking a risk that they won’t come after us later on?”
"I don't think we should attack them unprovoked," Keyleth whispers. "The kobolds at the yuan-ti temple were raiding Mire's Edge, but for all we know this group might just be living here minding their own business. Maybe we should try talking to them."
As you make your way into the room the kobold's have definitely noticed you. They create the defensive perimeter around the kobold laying on the pile of coins.
Sensing your hesitation, the one wearing the rug as a cape calls out to you.
"Eh, what you want! Leave us be, we ain't doin nuthin but what we've been told!"
“We don’t want trouble, nor do we want your treasure.” As a sign of peace, Ransyl straps his spear and shield to his back. Raising his hands in a non-threatening manner. “If you don’t mind me asking, what have you ‘been told’ and by whom?”
Timber eyes widen. "They looks so cute!! And look at all the treasure!" He looks around at the group, "Are we going to fight them?"
Ransyl whispers, “That’s quite a lot of them. We’d each have to take care of two!” He counts his daggers and shrugs.

The kobold looks scared, though you are unsure if its scared of you or someone else.
"By the boss, he lives under the city, that's all I know!"
“This boss, what can you tell us about him?”
The kobold suddenly looks more fearful.
"He promised me treasure, he did. He promised me many things if I do what he asks. But not much more can I say. He is powerful, that I know."
“So, what happens now? We leave you alone, not killing you, and then you forget you saw us?”
The kobold almost looks slyly as he responds.
"How much are you willing to pay for our silence?"
"Your lives. Is that enough?" the young fighter blurts out...

The kobolds raise their weapons as if you are about to attack but they also take a step back. The leader raises his hands,
"Fine, fine! We never saw you! Please just leave us in peace."
Ransyl looks at the others, “Works for me.” He shrugs and begins turning around.
OoC: Does Keyleth sense that the kobolds genuinely intend to "forget" they saw us?
