Alexia keeps watch silently, relaxing a little more as the noises of the forest block out the noises of the people below. On the branch between her and Conor, the sprite grabs one of the large leaves from the tree and turns it into a makeshift cushion, taking off for a loop around the camp every ten minutes or so.

Conor sits up in his vantage point, in the darkness, the strange shapes of the local flora and fauna distorted by the night. As he sits there watching he contemplates whether using a magical light would help him more or attract the wrong kind of attention. Thinking that his partner on watch doesn't need the light he goes without, trying make out details in the deepening blackness.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
Despite the hawk-like vision of the half-elf and the attentiveness of the rogue, danger enters the camp.
Conor and Alexia hear a loud cracking noise from the edge of the tent ring. Alexia's eyes dart towards the source.
She briefly snatches a glance at a large shadow as it yanks the corpse of one of the mules behind a wagon.
Another large, stocky creature deftly clambers from the bottom-most boughs of a twisting tree before lowering itself quietly onto the wagon. It sniffs the barrels of whale oil in the back, before setting its gaze on the three living mules nearby.
Conor, Alexia, Arcast and characters with a Passive Perception ≥ 13 (Valen the Blessed):
The mules start to panic and bray. They are situated twenty feet north of the camp, near a small trough that Corrigan cobbled together for them. The two wagons carrying Ishaz's cargo blockade the mules against a large root to prevent the animals' escape. Corrigan's tent sits just in front of the wagons. Alexia and Conor see movement within the tent, and the gentle glow of an oil lamp slowly igniting from within as the entrance buttons are clumsily unfastened by half-asleep hands.
Meanwhile, Valen stirs at the sound of the braying mules. As he blinks away the dream he has already forgotten, he hears the panicked hoof-beats and the rustling of heavy movement coming from the make-shift animal pens. Rolling over, he can barely even make out shadows cast by the embers of the firepit through the felt of his tent, their glow so diminished.
Arcast sits in his tent in his inactive state, letting the sounds of the jungle wash through him. His manufactured consciousness automatically sieves through the sounds, and he suddenly becomes aware of the out-of-place commotion being made in the direction of the wagons and draft animals. As he processes this information, he feels the silent presence of the Soulcaller watching him from afar, an all too familiar feeling which foretells the coming of death.
[OoC]: In case it wasn't obvious, those not mentioned are fast asleep.
Alexia's eyes flick to the shadows by the mules. "Trouble," she hisses softly, and the sprite immediately flits towards Lucina's sleeping form to wake her. In the meantime, Alexia unslings her bow, all the tension of the previous days returning to her shoulders as she tracks the movement of the stocky creatures.

Valen stirs, but the relative peace and beauty of this foreign place took him deeper into sleep than his training usually allows. A few stumbling moments pass before he truly discerns reality from dream.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
[OoC]: As mentioned previously, those in the 1st group can post interchangeably, as can the 3rd group, etc.
The 1st round is those who are awake. The 2nd is those who are sleeping. I hope this is clear enough. Let me know if there's a different, preferred format to post initiative in.
I'll make one more key post shortly, then Riannis and Lucina can take their turns.
As Conor's warning echoes through the camp, the larger of the two creatures leaps on top of one of the wagons, the barrels creaking under the weight. The creature looks up to the source of the shout, beating its massive simian chest with four arms the size of battering rams, and lets out a deafening roar in reply.
You see from here that the other beast saunters out from the shade of the wagons, it's two lowermost arms carrying something protectively and it's upper arms hauling half of a mule carcass. It slinks into the underbrush beyond the camp, out of sight.
As the roar erupts from the beast, you see hesitation in Corrigan's tent as the light of the lamp is slowly doused and the buttons are hastily refastened.
You all wake to the sounds of shouting.
Conor's panicked voice carries across the camp stirring you all from your slumber. It is followed by an ear-splitting roar that succeeds in truly bringing each of you into the realm of consciousness. Following the roar, all sounds of wildlife suddenly fall silent - even the chirping of nocturnal insects. The quiet is eerie in such a large, natural environment.
As each of you climb out of your hammocks and bedrolls, you realise that there is barely any light around camp, save for the faint embers from the fire-pit casting illumination out to ten feet. The light of the moon straining through the canopies is just enough for those with a trained eye to see comfortably in, whereas those with human eyesight can only make out dark shapes in the gloom.
[OoC]: Riannis and Lucina, you're up. Both of you are currently in Lucina's tent, which is roughly 20ft. from the mule area. You can assume that every other tent apart from Corrigan's is within 10ft. of you. Alexia and Conor are 60ft. high in the branches of a nearby tree. There is plenty of underbrush around the edge of the camp, but it counts as difficult terrain. The area around the tents is illuminated and everywhere else is low-light.

Riannis (the sprite) squeaks out a greeting to Lucina before blinking out of sight. Invisible, she zooms after the creature that vanished into the underbrush, tracking its movements and relaying them to Alexia telepathically.

Alexia:
Riannis follows the slightly smaller ape as it bounds through the undergrowth to a spot 40ft north-east. It then lowers the bundle in its arms into the crook of a root, which is now evidently a juvenile. Once the baby is safely hidden, the beast turns around and starts back towards the camp. Riannis conveys all of this to Alexia telepathically.
The beast takes Lucina's lance of energy straight in the shoulder, with the bolt piercing clean through and out into the bushes beyond, exploding with a shattering sound. The creature, having almost being knocked from the wagon, straightens itself up and lifts one of the cracked barrels from the wagon, launching it through the air towards Lucina.
Ranged Attack: Attack: 21Damage:13 bludgeoning
As the barrel shatters upon impact with the ground, the whale oil splashes and coats the tents, with a small stream of it beginning to dribble down towards the firepit.
The beast then lets out a feral grunt as it launches itself onto a nearby tree. Using its prehensile tail and multitude of strong primate arms, it swings and clambers across branches and vines with incredible speed towards Alexia and Conor. They watch in shocked horror as the massive ape snarls upon reaching their area of the canopy and bears down upon them. It throws a large claw towards Conor before attempting to grab the pair of victims in vicious choke-holds - a dangerous situation so far from the ground.
Claw vs Conor:14Damage:5 slashing
Grapple vs Conor:17
Grapple vs Alexia:19
[OoC]: The Girallon uses a free action to pick up a barrel, then throws it using one of its multiattack options. It then uses its bonus action and climb speed to move the full 60ft through the trees towards Conor and Alexia. When in range, it uses another of its multiattack options to claw Conor, then it's final two attacks to attempt grapples on each of its targets - which it gains advantage on due to its large size. You can both roll either acrobatics or athletics to contest the grapple, which does not count as part of your turn. Alexia, Arcast, Conor and Valen may now take their turns.

Valen leaps from his bedroll, drawing his sword. With barely a moment to lose, he brandishes an amulet strung on a large chain, "Walls of The Bastion, stand to arms! The Blessed's horn calls you to service!" Behind the massive ape a sword and shield materializes and stabs at the beast while its caller secures his shield for battle
(Action: Don a shield. Bonus: Spiritual Weapon, atk 7 for 7. Move: Close distance to the barrel-chucking, grabby beast. I believe the allies in front of it are grappled, but let me know if the spell weapon was advantaged due to materializing from thin air and attacking the rear.)
