A large red tailed hawk swoops down and lands seemingly on air at Brixo’s eye level. A voices comes out as the hawk keeps looking at the earth genasi.“Heh. You, my large sir, are by no means a giant. An easy enough mistake to make, I’m sure.” The voice is that of a young woman, and comes from the area that the hawk is standing above. “What are you... Oh, Dae, you’re confusing them. Hey! Down a little bit.”

[OoC]: Are both of these voices coming from the hawk? I'm a little confused :P

(OOC): both same voice, both voices coming a little below the hawk. The hawk is not talking. I edited to try and be a little bit clearer, hopefully that helps.
"Argh!" Brixo attempts to swat the bird away with a large brown hand. "Begone talking beast! Begone creature of air! Back to Aaqa with you!" Brixo looks quite distressed by the bird in front of his face.

"Don't be mean to the birdy!" Cori tries to wave away Brixo's hand, but she's too short to. Seeming competely interested in the animal, she completely ignores the fact there was a new voice. She swings her bag around so that she could reach in, then takes out a little piece of her rations and holds it out for the bird to take if it wanted. "Here you go, birdy. An apology for my friend here."

Wazzok grabs Brixo's hands as he tries to swat the bird.
"Best not attack talking birds, Master Brixo. Friend or foe a talking animal is like to be dangerous."
Not sure how to address the animal, she kind of half offers her hand to shake, but then pulls it back and says,
"Hail... um... bird-woman? I am called Wazzock..."
She gives the introductory spiel where she announces everyone's name. (She's going to do this to everyone they meet unless someone stops her, and eventually you all start to catch on to the fact that she speaks overly formally to appear smarter than she is.)
A small giggle comes as the hawk flutters down pecks at the rations. The air ripples and shifts for a second, and soon you can all see the previously invisible female tiefling. She stands out immediately among the crowd with her deep blue skin, amber hair, and large curled horns. Her tail flicks back and forth as she laughs. “Oh good sir, Daedalus is no elemental. He’s a bird, through and through.” The bird finishes and retakes its perch on her left horn. She clutches a jewel encrusted book in one hand and has her other hand extended. “I apologize for not making myself seen earlier, but my father wouldn’t want me out like this. Me being what I am and all. But that doesn’t matter, the stuffy old crook. My name is Inquiry. Inquiry Falrin.” As she talks, you can see her hand shaking slightly and her tail takes up a nervous tick as she starts to notice the stares of those around.
"I suppose I can handle bird. I am of opinion that things are better with feet on the ground. Brixo Stonewarden." He takes her hand and tries his best not to crush it.

Chazrael chuckles at the hawk. "Pleased to meet you Inquiry. I am Chazrael. You don't need to know my last name. A talking animal can be dangerous because you don't know what else it can do. But this one seems harmless. Where did you find him?"

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
A tiefling is bound to attract stares in any circumstances, and Inquiry is no exception. (If I understand correctly, even though Inquiry is native to Gauntlgrym she is not often allowed out of the house.)
Rosie tentatively speaks up. "Well, erm, you see, it's not quite proper etiquette to go knocking on the front door of Gauntlgrym Keep. The king doesn't often entertain strangers."
"Then we have problem. Tell dwarf king that I know why evil things happen. I wish conversation with him." Brixo says gesturing with his hand, trying to appear friendly.

Cori's eyes widen as the tiefling appears out of nowhere. Her jaw drops, and it takes her a moment to realize the bird did come down to eat the 'treat' (as the rations were mostly dried food). By the time she moves to try and pet it, the bird is gone to perch on Inquiry's horn.
"Nice to meet ya, Inquiry. If you didn't hear my large, polite friend over here," she points a finger up at Wazzok. "my name's Cori. Your bird's cool, can it do tricks? Like the thing you just did where you appeared out've nowhere? That was really cool." The halfling speaks quickly, everything she said being on one breath. She takes long, deep breath to recover. "Hey, Brixo, mind if I call you Brick? What do you know about what's going on?"

Rosie is somewhat at a loss for words. "Well... I suppose you could... it's unprecedented but I don't see why not..." Apparently this is not a situation which occurs often in Gauntlgrym.
[OoC]: I'm soon going to be busy, and may be able to get off one or two more replies before the end of the night. Just assume Brixo is tagging along, anxiously waiting for his audience with the king. He'll of course blunder from one social encounter to another with barely any idea how to speak to people - but he does mean well.

Inquiry seems to settle slightly at the talk about Daedalus. “Dae? I didn’t find him, I summoned him. I practice a bit of magic here and there, and it does get awful lonely at my father’s institution. He is quite wonderful, isn’t he? I’m glad you all have taken such a shine to him. Most of the other scholars I work with aren’t exactly keen on having creatures with the books, but Dae is quite well behaved.” She shifts, looking longingly back towards the tavern for a second, but then falls into step with the rest of the group. “Unfortunately, I think you’ve mistook my voice for his. He doesn’t talk. Well, I mean, he does, but only to me. No, that’s not true. It’s not really talking per a say, as much as it is mental images and pictures. He communicates with me, and sometimes lets me look through his eyes. But he does other cool tricks!” At a mental prodding, Daedalus flies up a few feet before Inquiry channels a Shocking Grasp through his claws. ”Mostly he’s a companion and a lookout, but on occasion he does some other useful things for me.” Daedalus lands softly on Cori’s shoulder, looking for more ‘treats’.
(OOC: That is correct, very few people outside of her father’s inner circle know of Inquiry’s existence)
Brixo walks quickly over to the door and follows Wazzock. Pulling alongside her he whispers, "Are you sure we are not giants? I am not so sure."
Now that the group is supposedly heading to the king, he seems happy enough to follow, and makes extra effort to tread on rocky areas on the way.
