"Yes, sure, fine," Elric stammers, pulling a pouch of 50 gold pieces out and placing it on the table for all to see. "I would prefer to only pay half up front, but you lot seem eager to help," he says, pointing to Zane, who walks out of the tavern to better hear the poetry.
OOC: Is the rest of the party joining Zane outside?
The woman stands up, she's tall, lean, moves well for being heavily armored (it looks like she sleeps in it). She stretches and cracks her back. Then, picking up her pack and shield and pointing at the bag of gold, she nods at Hox, "You, kobold, you can keep the rest if you save me ten."
Then she puts a hand on Elric's shoulder. "Come, cheesy bun merchant, let us meet these poets." and she follows Zane outside, bringing Elric along, forcibly.

"We will return Richard, thank you for your hospitality thus far. Hox, I will get you some cheese when we return." The large bugbear nods to Richard and heads out after Zane.
OOC: It's been 2 days, so I will assume Hox and Marc are also joining the party outside. 10 gold pieces have been added to each character's inventory.

"Trust me, it is best if I stay here,"Elric says. "I'm not exactly on good terms with the Stone Shields, if they see me skulking about I'm like to prove more of a hassle than a help."
The party steps outside of the Firestar Chariot Inn and into the small alleyway it is nestled into. Two side alleys wrap around to the back side of the inn. A dilapidated building sits directly across from the inn, with a hastily painted sign reading "Poetry Society". The windows are boarded up but the irritating mumbling of recited poetry can still be heard clearly: "Thus the living...the loathsome spawn..."
The street outside the inn has a few passersby and the occasional wagon, but paunchy halfling with a bulbous nose, elaborate mustache, and cheap monocle emerges from a narrow side alley of the poetry building, hurrying down the street at a quickened pace that belies his girth.
OOC > I assume DM fiat, that Elric is not coming with us, regardless? Killian will have tried to insist, but whatever the result, it's cool. Is the Halfling walking down the street away from us, or towards us? What time of day is it?

OOC: By all means, insist! I have to try to keep things moving in a PbP format, but don't mistake that for railroading. You can "rewind" time a bit to have some actions resolved before leaving the tavern if you'd like to try and persuade Elric along.
It is currently early afternoon, and the halfling is very quickly walking down the street away from you and the inn.
Zane finds a crate or a barrel in the earshot of the poetry and starts scribbling some of it down to possibly re-read later on. Does anything repeat or make sense or resemble a ballad or a folk tale so far?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Killian
Rewind...
Her hand tightens on Elric's shoulder as he tries to back out. "Oh, no, I insist," Killian says through bared teeth, eyes narrowing.
Intimidation: 8
If the intimidation does not work, she will attempt to twist his arm up behind him, essentially a grapple, using it to lead him outside, at which point she will shove him forward, letting go. If he wants to scamper away in the street, she can decide then to chase or not. Regardless, she will be paying attention to Elric, not the Halfling. Someone else will have to go after him, if they want to.
Athletics: 25
Edit: I guess he's too dumb to be intimidated by a pretty girl in armor. She should have drawn her sword. :)
Hox grins as he sees the pudgy halfling quickly leave the alley, "Small man, big belly, make easy target for Hox...Hox will follow him. Find allies here at beer place to tell what Hox has found?" Hox says as he places his hood on, only showing his snout.
Zane listens to the poetry from a barrel outside, and while the walls prevent most of the words from being heard clearly, two lines come through as they are shouted more loudly than the rest of the poem: "Stoke the fire and stout bar the door, for this is the night mages go to war!"
Elric tries to spin from Killian's grasp, but yelps in pain as she twists his arm up behind his back, pushing him out of the door.
Killian Athletics: 19 Elric Acrobatics: 16
Elric continues to writhe, trying to escape Killian's grip but finds the paladin to be quite firm in her stance. "How should I know? That's what you're supposed to be figuring out! What are you doing! I've given you the gold already, you ungrateful fiend!" he shouts, drawing the attention of a couple of passersby in the street.
Gruun emits a low growl towards anyone whose eye linger too long on the group. He uses his height to keep an eye on Hox and the surround crowds to spot any potential trouble.
Once out in the street, she lets Elric go with a gentle shove. "Ilmater is grateful for your gold, but I am curious as to your motivations. I have no interest in doing your dirty deeds for you. Thus, you will accompany us." She rest a hand on her sheathed sword.
Whatever Hox does, she's not interested in the Halfling at the moment. She's very much about knocking down the thing in front of her. At the moment, that's the building in front of them.
Is there a door visible on the front, or just boarded up windows?

"Why is it always starting war? A good meal and warm bed should suffice. Should we knock with this or this?" As he speaks he raises his left hand and his right hand holding his Greataxe.
OOC: There is a front door to the Poetry Society building.
Gruun finds himself distracted by Elric and Killian's ruckus, unable to focus on the small number of passersby in the street. When Killian releases him, he quickly regains his balance, whirling on her with a dagger drawn. "I am not paying you to do the job myself! I have other business to attend to,"he shouts. To Killian's surprise, she notices that Elric holds her very own dagger.

Hox sticks to the shadows well, but though the halfling has not noticed him, he is slowly outpacing him on the narrow Sundabaran alleys. The kobold may have to abandon stealth or risk losing his quarry.
She glances at her empty sheath, then stares him down. "As I said, Ilmater thanks you for your donation. I act as my god would act, not as mortal men bid me. Keep the dagger if you need repayment." And she will go ahead and pound on the door with her mailed fist.
