Zane will absolutely use that action, warning others beforehand, "Hold on. I didn't think there would be magic at play here but it is. Lets approach this a bit more cautiously."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nothing visible within this small room flares with a magic aura when Zane tries to register the magic he senses.
Tracking: There are three doors in this room; one that exits to the back alley, one across from it, and one to the left of it. Zane can sense the presence of magic and can use an action to see an aura around magical creatures or objects for 42 seconds.

OOC: Hox and the halfling each use Dash as an action and a bonus action for this turn.
Sprinting through the streets on all fours, Hox continues to gain ground, gaining even closer when the halfling collides with a beggar as he turns down an alley. The halfling ducks into a stone door, closing and barring it as the hooded kobold closes in, but Hox does not hesitate as he leaps, shattering the building's window and landing on his feet inside of the house. The chase continues out the back door of the house and into another alley.
Tracking: Hox is 55 feet from the halfling and slowly gaining ground. Hox has used four free Dash actions. The halfling has used four free Dash actions.
OOC: Hox has one more free Dash, any Dash after that is accompanied by a CON save to avoid a level of exhaustion.
Zane is super confused for a bit and then slowly says, "Whatever magical there is in this room, it's invisible. Can any of you either dispel magic or see invisibility?"
Sorry for the delay in posting, i just had my second son over the weekend and haven't had time to sit down and catch up.
Gruun keeps his Greataxe in his hand as he scans about the room. He moves slowly toward the door across from them since the chanting was coming from across the front of the building."I know nothing of the arcane, just to avoid getting tangled up in too much of it. So much for that."
Zane says, "The thing is that there is two possibilities - either there's something mundane here hidden through invisibility or someone is using something to spy on us here. But as we just determined we don't have a way to find out."
Tracking: There are three doors in this room; one that exits to the back alley, one across from it, and one to the left of it. Zane can sense the presence of magic and can use an action to see an aura around magical creatures or objects for 36 seconds.

Zane understands the writing at the bottom of the note Killian found attached to the spyglass. Underneath the two lines written in Common are two lines written in an Abyssal script. They repeat the same lines:
The spy glass shows your fate.
A powerful weapon if it fell into enemy hands.
Tracking: There are three doors in this room; one that exits to the back alley, one across from it, and one to the left of it. Zane can sense the presence of magic and can use an action to see an aura around magical creatures or objects for 30 seconds.
"Mm, makes sense," she says when it turns out the other language says the same thing. Leaving the spyglass with Zane, she will go to the door directly opposite the entrance, and try the handle.

OOC: Before I resolve Zane's Identify spell, I just want to verify, are you casting it on the spyglass?
Killian opens the door across from the party. It is unlocked, and opens to a parlor, where there is a large sheet covering some sort of mass. There is an opening on the left side of the room that looks to lead into a foyer with only a few chairs seen from the door in this room. As soon as the door opens you are greeted by an influx of poetry emanating from beneath this sheet:
“A star rushes past, to crash upon the shore, But the first of many many more, Stoke the fire and stout bar the door, For this is the night mages go to war.
Thus the living, lone and sobbing, In the throes of anguish throbbing, With the loathsome spawn mobbing Night and noon of peace and rest.
But beyond the groans and grating Of abhorrent Life, is waiting Sweet Oblivion, culminating All the years of fruitless quest.”
The halfling suddenly skids attempting a sharp turn into a side alley, sliding instead into a hard wall. He quickly picks himself up and continues, but Hox's claws keep him from suffering the same fate. The halfling's bulbous mustached face is in clear view now as he nervously looks over his shoulder at the approaching kobold.

OOC: Yes, on the spyglass. And after the identify he ...
says, "This is getting weirder, but also more interesting."
He summons a spectral hand (Mage Hand) and approaches the door carefully. He peeks in, then guides the hand to pick up or drag away the sheet.
