MaZe sighs at his brother comment. "Here I thought you finally accepted the way of our people" he jes, he proceeds to head towards the main road to find some local guards and inform them of the situation. "At least he can't say we didn't help" he chuckled. Maze had come to love snow. The white cold blanket the covered all. It reminded him of him. The coldness that is. What he enjoyed most, was the difficulty it brought when it came to disposing of someone. Now that was true art. A true clean kill.
The night air was cold and brought just a bit of a breeze that kicked up the snow about. But not enough to impede sight. A city guard was nearby and took notice of the brothers, "And what have we here? Having a good work?" The guard gave the two a smile.
As the brothers catch sight of the city guard Ranafien yells, "TROLLS AT THE YAWNING PORTAL!" He continues as he gets closer, "Get your men, Trolls at the Yawning Portal!" When the Tiefling and his brother reaches the gaurd he stops to catch his breath. He breathes in the cold air deep into his lungs and speaks again, "Best get your fellow guardsmen."
MaZe stands besides his winded brother. Looking eyes with the guard. "Like he said, Troll. So you could either help out. Or let them run the city. Your choice." He smile while covering his face from the updraft of winter. "We're helping" he said with a look of 🤨
With the two brothers rushing forward, the guard quickly put his hand to the handle of his sword. Hearing the mention of a troll, the guard looked to be ready to run off, but then took a look at Ranafien's horns, then looked into the green eyes of the cloaked. He seemed to try to edge closer to peer beneath the hood of MaZe when a chair shattered one of the windows of the Yawning Portal, "Oh Crap!" the guard immediately lost interest in the brothers and blew into a small horn he had on his hip before running towards the tavern then disappeared through the door.
Ranafien took a few steps back towards the yawning portal. “Done all we could, guess we just watch.” Said the Tiefling as he remembered he dropped his newspaper. “Wonder if this would be on the next wazoo, brother.”
Maze just shrugged it off. "Let's get a better view" he spoke as he headed towards the newly shattered window. Peeking in from the wreckage, the scene gave him a nostalgic feeling. What seemed like unadulterated chaos, were ruminates of home. "Now this is what life is all about" he gleamed
The brothers walk through the snow and reached just outside the tavern. They peek through the shattered window and looked into the Taproom. The crowd of patrons had spread out, though giving room to the dead troll which now lay in pieces. Durnan then dropped oil on the bits of the monsters and set it ablaze. With the troll and the stirges now dead, the danger was gone and the atmosphere was slowly returning back to normal, however, from the corner of MaZe's eye, he could see about three corpses being blanketed by the city guard. A priestess praying over those who had fallen during the disaster.
"Guess, ye' didn't need the city guard." said the tiefling to Durnan as the approached the tavern. He looked around for the orge to see if she had made it out alright as well. "Where's the lady orc, i wonder." Whispered Ranafien to his brother.
Maze heads towards the location of the female warrior. Exchanging that his reply. "Remind me to look into the bar keep. He ain't no push over. Trolls aren't easy, especially with that regeneration." He spoke as he made his way toward the center of all attention. Keeping his wits about him & his hands on his hilt. "So what's the damage he asked towards the keep & orc" keeping the tunnel in his view
As the brothers entered the tavern, workers of the establishment moved about tables and chairs, people began to relax and Durnan was pointing here and there, giving tasks to his workers. Durnan looked back to the cloaked Maze, "The damage is small, but the furniture can be replaced" His eyes then turn to the three blanketed corpses, both brothers could spot that one of the corpses is the orc woman, "'Tis a shame three patrons perished, though these things do happen" he slightly shrugged his shoulders, Maze could tell that the barkeep was barely moved by the death, in the man's eyes showed years of battle experience.
"Durnan, you have a moment?" The city guard called for the barkeep.
" 'cuse me" Durnan told the brothers before he walked off to meet with the guard.
The seems the excitement didn't scare away the majority of the patrons, for they continued to drink, though the joyful tone didn't return for some time. Maze would catch the sighting of someone putting up a parchment of paper on his favorite bounty board.
Ranafien waltz into the bar and searched for the paper he had toss aside while running away from the chaos earlier. It's location was revealed to him when he peeked under the tables and saw it laying on the ground in a puddle of beer. 'How easily can violence ruin knowledge despite it's value' thought the warlock as he walked away and sat at one of the tables still intact. He ordered a tall ale before slumping in his seat awaiting his brother.
Maze, gave a slight chuckle to the keeps reaction. It was all to; a familiar feeling. As he kneeled beside the orc female. Paying his respects(looting) "Thanks for the suit" he whispered quietly to himself. But never losing focus on the mysterious figure placing a bounty on his favorite board. Now who? & what could this be? he thought. As he naturally slightered through the tavern, navigating the most efficient way. Apporching the figure from behind. Sleeve bleed beneath their 3 rib.
"Even the slightest intent of defiance, you die. Now what do we have there?" As the questioning paraded between just the two.
The barmaid took notice of Ranafien's order, though a little shaken up about the passing event, she still presented him with a smile, "Right away, sir" and went off to retrieve the ale.
Maze approached the man at the bounty poster without him noticing. He whispered into his hear, causing the man to freeze up. For a moment, the man stammers before replying "I-I am looking f-for a friend of mine, he w-went missing" The man didn't mean move, just held himself in place without turning about, from what Maze can tell, the man was telling the truth.
"So why did you say that sooner?" Maze spoke as he eased away from the man. Standing beside him, as the dagger dismissed itself to its home. "How about we talking about this in my office?" Ripping the notice off the board before making his way to his brother. "You should lay off the booze. It dulls your senses" Maze spoke pull his chair out. Kicking the other chair enough for the man to join them. "We got a job" he grinned
Ranafien didn't bother to respond to his brother's remark about his drinking, he was nowhere near his limits. You could see the amused shocked on his face when his brother mentioned a job. He took a swig of his drink and turned to the man he brought to the table. "What you got for us?"
