OOC: Sorry for the ugly map, guys -- I pretty much had to make it using the Paint program.
OOC: Rules of engagement -- I roll initiative for the party and for any monsters in an encounter; afterwards, I post the order of action. When your turn comes up, please try to post within 24 hours.
Order of Initiative: Khial, Hobgoblin, Epos, HDP, Goblins, Xel. Khial, you're up!
Upon seeing the goblins and hobgoblins, Xel thinks: "This is MOST DEFINITELY not like my life in the library. Take a breath Xel, you are trained in this. Focus. Identify the Threat. Categorize the Strength Level. Determine optimum use of resources. Calculate chances of success."
Xel concludes "What trouble has Herr Doktor Professor gotten himself into. Since he mentioned the cache was guarded by goblins and he was chased off by goblins and he has pointed out that the goblins we see are the very same, then it is but logical to believe that these goblins are out to get him and by association -- his companions. Since I possess neither armor or speed for defense, it would be prudent to cast a defensive spell for the impending fight since goblins are not noted for their forgiving nature."
If possible before combat, Xel will cast Mage Armor on himself.
Xel grasps his staff and concentrates. He recites the words of the spell he has memorized. The fingers of his off-hand quickly move in precise gestures. "Shield this form from battle's scars. Reflect, deflect, defend from mar."
OOC: coffeerite, please preface with OOC when speaking out of character. State Khial's actions -- if you want to draw a weapon, you can do it as part of movement (since you didn't equip any of your items, I'll assume none of your weapons are in your hands). If you decide to roll, use the dice icon at the extreme right of the toolbar (if you can't see it, set page to desktop view).
OOC: In preparation for my action, if Xel moves into one of the bushes and there are no bushes between him and the goblins, does that give him cover and if so how much?
OOC: Just to refresh my memory on grid movement, if I move diagonal, that's 15 feet of movement?
OOC: As an additional question, if Xel gets cover while in the bushes, the goblins (assuming they are still out in the open) do not get cover from him.
OOC: all the "brush" squares are considered difficult terrain and cost twice as much movement to enter (5 feet becomes 10 feet, etc.). Only the dark green bushes are large enough to provide cover ( they provide half cover if they get in the way of an attack).
Khial examines the hobgoblin from afar, "I have a plan to defeat that wretched hobgoblin." He equips his trusty ol' shortbow which he "borrowed" from an unsuspecting traveler a few months ago.
OOC: Okay. I also checked Diagonal Movement - the first square is 5 feet and the second time you make a diagonal movement its 10 feet. Thereafter, the next time you move diagonal is 5 feet, the next time after that is 10 feet.
OOC: As far as I can recall, the 1.5 rule for diagonal movement is an optional rule from the dmg. We'll just stick with the simpler, less "realistic" 5 feet rule for diagonal movement.
OOC: Can't see map either. Getting a "Forbidden:" icon - are you using a link to a something on your google drive? Can you give access to Tristan.y.manalo@gmail.com?
OOC: I'm away from computer right now, but I think it's a glitch with hosted images on google photos that they disappear after awhile (I can see the map on my phone, though).I put the image on a public setting, though. I'lll try again when I get home using your email addresses. Sorry for the technical difficulties, guys.

OOC: I didn't see the last post.
I'll wait then until everyone takes their turn. Depending on positioning, I may move back to cast Mage Armor on myself.
The image does seem to load for me.

OOC: moving diagonally imposes no penalty on movement. The goblins won't get cover if there is no cover between you and them.
OOC: technical issue delay -- coffeerite says he can't see the map. Desarud, skulgryn, please confirm that you can see the map.
OOC: I can see the map.

OOC: Hehehe ... I suspect all of Khial's weapons and equipment were "borrowed" ...
OOC: Can't see map either. Getting a "Forbidden:" icon - are you using a link to a something on your google drive? Can you give access to Tristan.y.manalo@gmail.com?
Epaminondas smiles, keeps his staff in hand by his side, and calmly prepares himself for the unexpected.
OOC: Hmmm. I can't see the map now. And I don't know why, sometime the posts of the other people appear late, though sequentially before, to me.

Posting image again. I hope it stays on this time.
