OOC: I forget sometimes that not everyone is a floor plan fanatic like I am. :) Yes, the "anvils" are fireplaces open to both rooms. And the half anvils are fireplaces open to just the one room. My question is how in the world are there upstairs privys over rooms below? Where is the ... stuff going? It's not like there's plumming. Oh, wait. Is there plumming? How medieval is D&D?
OOC2: Hildigrim, of course, would be very interested in the library. He'd be happy living on a sofa in that room. If he needs to leave that room public (not his bedroom), he doesn't need much space. If the turret entrance was off a common room instead of a bedroom, he'd suggest that. It might be a little weird if his bedroom was off someone else's bedroom, though. He could take the attic bedroom. That way, he's just one flight of stairs away from the library. And, when he's not there, his empty room would be out of sight, out of mind.
OOC3: And, FWIW, I'm OK with the name, Trollskull Manor. I just wanted to make the Grayskull joke.
OOC > There are four designated bedrooms, but the Den and the Spare Room, both in the second floor, could be turned into bedrooms. Most importantly, both have access to fireplaces.
OOC: I 've seen back-to-back fireplaces that had a wall in between, but had a common flue and chimney. If it is like that, Hildi could grab the spare room, and be a staircase away from the library.
OOC2: Jorin should get either the turret peak or the wine cellar. If he wants a better room, he needs to promise to stay around longer. :-b
OOC: My question is how in the world are there upstairs privys over rooms below? Where is the ... stuff going? It's not like there's plumming. Oh, wait. Is there plumming? How medieval is D&D?
OOC3: I assumed that wizards set up permanent teleports, like that episode of the Simpsons where Homer puts one pod in front of the upper floor toilet, and was about to whizz in the other one in the ground floor living room (until Marge stopped him). (youtube link)
OOC4: I'd like to change the name. Just makes me cringe: "Trollskull". We should either go fun (something like "Moonshine Manor") or go completely over the top ("Gargantuan Death-Dealing Tarrasque Oubliette").

DM ruling the double-sided fireplaces. The Den and Common Room fireplace is open to both, peekaboo! The third floor Master Bedroom and Private Bath fireplace is open to both, kinky! But the second floor Bedroom and Spare Room have a brick and mortar wall between them for privacy.
That Spare Room is pretty sweet, with a balcony, easy access to the exit, and just a nearby stairwell away from a privy. That second floor Bedroom though, long hallway to the Den, then the Common Room, then the Hall, then the stairs, then finally a privy. But it's very private. And probably comes with an old skool bedpan.

The crew begins to explore the Manor. Starting with the ground floor, the only unknown is the cellar, accessed from a hatch in the floor behind the bar. Prepared as you are from your last visit to someone's cellar, this one is disappointingly dull.
Before Drusk forgets, he does want to check the cellar. Any loose floor tiles, that lead to underground chambers? Sections of the wall that sound hollow, like a passage behind them? Perhaps a loose wooden board that is concealing a bag of 1250 dragons?

"I think we should start with Renaer Neverember," Hildigrim finally says, apropos of nothing after the group has finished inspecting the premises. "We did theoretically save his life. If you all have your hearts set on restoring the manor, we should start with him." The halfling sighs. Then, looking at Pascal, he smiles warmly. "We can pay him a visit in the morning." Hildi then puts a finger to his chin, suddenly working through a new thought. "Perhaps ... a few samples would sweeten the deal. Ah, yes," the rogue says cunningly. "If we can prove to Neverember that his investment is a sound one, he's much more likely to support the scheme." He looks at the red-skinned lizard folk. "Whatever you and Lif can whip up tonight. We'll bring him a buffet of fare. We obviously can't show him what the manor will look like, but we can play to our strength: the food. What do you think?" he asks Pascal.
Pascal rubs his claws together, “Oh you bet... oh you bet.” A low hissing laugh emits from the lizard. Pascal then excitedly bolts off to start gathering ingredients for a smorgasbord!

"A good idea, Hildi. I believe I can help, by sampling each dish of course. I have been in this city for quite a while, eating almost all it has to offer, and so, I know the tastes of it's people quite well." Jorin says with a laugh.
As far as a room goes, Jorin doesn't want to be too far from the bar. One never knows when one might need a midnight ale, or a pre-breakfast ale ale. The urge for ale could strike at any hour, and so proximity to where the ale lives is high in Jorin's bedroom assessment.
(OOC: I'm making suggestions for room assignments, but this can be ignored if you'd like something different.)
Ilena: attic bedroom. Wants more of an ascetic life. "Garrets" (attic rooms) are a little less comfortable, with the sloped roofs reducing the height in parts of the room. (I rented a garret for a semester in school, a while back.) When she gets to 4th level and gains "slow fall", she can jump out the window to the 2nd floor den balcony when she heads out in the morning.
Pascal: master bedroom. He will be in the manor more often than the others, if he is cooking in the kitchen. And I figure a lizardfolk would appreciate having the private bath with a fireplace.
Hildi: 3rd floor bedroom. Closest room for ibrary access. The private bath and the turret are perks.
Jorin: spare room. A little small, but this is the only room with a direct balcony (step outside for fresh air). And he can climb down from the balcony to the pantry entrance, which is the most direct route to the wine/ale cellar.
Drusk: 2nd floor bedroom.

The front door flies open as Pascal trundles his burly gator body out the door, already intent on his loan-fetching meal. Lif catches the door before it slams, and closes it gently.
He will return in a few hours (late afternoon) laden with packages, a large boy in tow carrying even more. After paying for the supplies, the boy's help, and a few choice kitchen items he does not carry around in his pack, this will set Pascal/the group back 15 dragons! (Pascal or someone please deduct 15 gp)
In the meantime, Drusk announces his logical plan for rooms, as Hildi continues his calculations, alternating between math and gazing at the empty library shelves.
Jorin and Ilena pass the time throwing axes at things. Lif assists by setting up broken tables in the taproom as targets.
Everyone happens to be in the taproom when Pascal returns, and as he and his porter head into the kitchen, there is a loud stomping and thumping out front. Looking out the windows, you see in front of the Manor four figures. Two are City Watch, easily recognizable by their tall conical helmets. Both are human, one is shorter and rounder, the other taller and skinnier. Standing in front of them is clearly a Magister (the City Watch wizards, essentially), a squat female dwarf in the black robes designating her position. And behind all three is a large metal construct, armored, limbs of magic weirwood showing beneath the metal plates. This last was what made the noise, though it is now motionless.
Passersby are looking at the scene curiously.
The dwarf Magister climbs the steps to the front door, which opens for her by itself (Lif). The two Watchmen stay outside with the construct.
"Good evening," she growls in a low rasp. Her face is set in what may be a perpetual scowl.
