"Well.. I can't speak for everyone here at the table but.." He would pause and look to the others before looking back to the farmer. "I would be willing to help... I mean.. It is night right now.. If you have the coin, I suppose we could try to take care of these pests for you right now before heading off to bed if you wanted... Or I guess I should say.. If my friends here wanted" Golver would say as he leans back in his wooden chair with a loud creak and looks to the others at the table.
Neecey takes in the sight of the man and gives him a pleasant smile. "What sort of stuff do you all grow around here? Lots of my family worked in the field. Though all they grew were onions. Yuck... About the only thing I can't stand to eat."
The halfling dips her spoon in to find a potato and gnashes it as the farmer relates his troubles. She turns to the gnome and replies with an excited nod of her own. "Oh, I think so too!"
She then turns back to the farmer. "Are your animals going missing or ending up killed?"
"Well I'm not bad with a knife, especially if it doesn't see me coming, I'm willing to watch my big friend's back while he stumbles around in the dark." Caerlan says with a nod to Golver and a conspiratorial wink. "Any other things you think we should know, we are new to the area after all. Any particular areas been targeted previously?"

"Missing and dead," the farmer worries his cloth hat some more. "I...the fields are fields..." he then says with a shrug. "Pasture land for the sheep and goats to graze just on the northern outskirts of the city," he adds with a nod. "Here's the coin I spoke about," he adds putting the worn leather pouch in the center of the table. "Please...as soon as you can help us the better," he adds with a serious expression. "I can take you to the field in my cart," he then offers.

"I get to ride up front!" Golver would say shooting up from the table and moving towards the door, trying to be the first one to the cart. This heavy armor clanking and elegant cloak flapping behind him.
Neecy shovels in the rest of her stew. "Okay! Ready!" She gathers her gear and follows behind the others. The halfling hurries to catch up to the farmer, "So... oh, uh... I didn't catch your name. Has this been something that has happened before?"
OOC: It's only an hour or so after dark. You've traveled all day so exhaustion won't start unless you push past midnight.
"Thank you...thank you so much," the farmer adds grinning as he ushers the group to follow. "The names Arnold...Arnold Sadler," he replies to Necey. "No...well wolves we can handle but it seems to be something more canny than that," he explains.
The party follows him out to find a mule cart. There is no "front seat" and Arnold will walking along the cart with the mule while the party piles in the back. The cart is filthy but you won't walk.

Golver would practically run until he gets to the cart. Seeing the state of the cart, he would cringe a bit. The dragonborn would move to cast prestidigitation to clean him off a section but would quickly stop himself. "ooOOOHhh. Uhh.. Ok... yeah" Golver would say as he stopped next to the cart. Looking inside he would carfully climb in and crouch down low near the front of the cart, but would not actually sit down. He would hold on to the edges of the cart with only two fingers on each hand... making sure to touch as little of the dirty cart as possible.
Jumping up into the cart Caerlan snorts a little at the level of cleanliness but brushes a section a little cleaner and sits down next to Kat saying nothing but arching an eyebrow at the other gnome and then looking around them at the dirt.

The farmer sees the party is loaded on his cart urges the mule forward.
"It'll take amount a half hour to reach the fields," he begins, "I'll part with you there," he adds.
The farmer does just that. The road is bumpy and full of ruts but tge party reaches the outskirts of town and the farmer points to the field then on the other side of the road a light in tbe distance.
"That's my house," the farmer points at rge distant light. "The field is just there," he points to utter darkness minus a dim light 100ft away. "That's farmer Jesep. He's keeping the folk tonight. We've taken shifts you see but still...something is plaguing our folks," he explains his face dimly light by the lantern attached to the cart. "I...I wish you luck," he then says ushering the party out of the cart then setting off for hone taking what little light is shining with him as the crescent moon hangs overhead in an overcast sky.

"Whatever is out here shouldn't be much of a problem for a dragonborn... " Golver would say with a smile. As the man leaves, he would pull out the leather pouch of coins and quickly count the amount before quickly closing it back up. "So do any of you actually have a torch... I mean.. I usually just cast light but if we are worried about someone noticing, I guess we should probably get one..." He would say before heading off towards the fields, his cloak softly waving in the breeze.
Kat pulls out a torch and lights it with her tinderbox, then hands it to the dragonborn. "You're so tall, you should probably hold the torch so that we can all see the best," she says innocently.
"You are right... I am the biggest and tallest and would do the best job holding this torch" Golver would say with a nod to Kat as he takes the torch and holds it high.
Necey giggles a bit. "I bet you would make the best-looking meal for whatever may be lurking out there as well." She looks to the others with a grin, but then ponders for a moment. "Though, I could also change myself into one of the animals? But first, let's try to gather a bit more information before we head off to the fields. Maybe some of the smaller animals around here saw something."
The druid plops down on the ground and begins a ritual casting to allow herself to better communicate with animals. When she is done she stands and roams the edge of the trees listening for and calling out to any nocturnal animals - owls, raccoons, badgers - that she may hear.

Necey quickly senses the eerie lack of any beast big or small in the area. They've cleared out and she can only assume for good reason!
It's open pasture lands to one side and a crop to the other towards the light the farmer pointed to being his house.
