"Who could've predicted that eating something from the mysterious hut in the woods guarded by living trees would have caused something like this?" Dathyra said sarcastically. "It's almost as if I could have predicted that." Merric never ceased to impress her with how much he could know and how clueless he could be simultaneously.
She took a look at the apple, sniffing it a little in the hopes of being able to recognize what may have been wrong with it. (Medicine: 8). If anything, it would at least be helpful to know how long he could be out. Realizing this was either a poison or an enchantment she was unfamiliar with, she turned to the others.
"Right now, it's hard to say if he'll be out for only a few hours, a few days, or even a few years. I'm not entirely sure what sort of a situation he has put himself in, but at least he's still alive. He's lucky for that, as this could have turned out so much worse. Anyway, I don't think we can just leave him here. I'm not sure what's down in the pit, but if it isn't the witch, she could likely come back and find him while we're down there. But, we can't just take him with us either. What should we do?"
Sen watches as Merric acts like Merric. Before biting into it, Sen says to Dathyra, "you can't blame him. Does look tasty." Sen looks around the room for another apple.
Sen chuckles as Merric takes a nap. "Are you sure it was the apple? I mean, really know? We've had a long day and he could just be tired. Let me have a bite."
Upon hearing the vioces below, Sen jumps back. "What the hell is that!?" Sen draws a dagger. "Who goes there?!"
Harivaldr was so taken aback by Merric's reckless apple munching that he stopped strumming his counterspell. "Ah..." he struggled to find something to say, anything that could be said in his companion's defense. Nothing came to him. "Well, none of my illusions can hide him while I'm not around to sustain them. Should we just carry him? As you say, this is hardly a safe place to leave him napping."
On hearing the voices from the pit, he muttered, "Then again, if we face further peril, we could end up carrying him to his doom... Maybe we should just tuck him in a broom closet or something, you know, like the Grey Cowl hid away from Barnum the Raubritter?"
Waking up in a cramped cage, in a dark pit with a strange talking fish person had given Entropy Klive far more reason to reflect on her life choices than she'd had in a while. Mostly, the ones that had gotten her there but still. She wasn't usually all that keen on reflecting on her past in general and she wasn't happy about doing so now. Unfortunately, there was little else to do down here in the dark with her head spinning and no way out. Pressed against the bars of the cage, the bard had been alternating between staring upward at the scant bits of light creeping through the vines above and looking longingly over at the pile of hers and the fish man's belongings and weapons their captor had piled in an adjacent corner. She wanted out of this wretched excuse for a dog kennel, she wanted her things, a meal, a drink, and then she wanted to burn down this foul hovel with whoever owned it and those cursed animated thorn bushes trapped inside. Perhaps not entirely in that order but still. She was having more than a little trouble with the getting out of the kennel bit though. She didn't have any spells that wouldn't do just as much harm to her and the other prisoner as they would do to the door in such cramped quarters and beyond that she was still uncertain of what or who exactly had put them here. There'd seemed little other option but to bide her time until their captor returned and then deal with that person directly. The only option until someone or a group of someones had started thumping around upstairs of course. The half orc went quiet at all the noise, wary, but the triton had been shouting and demanding practically since the moment he'd woken up, regardless of whether there was anyone to hear him besides her or not and now was no exception. Entropy winced as he yelled up to the people tromping about above, his voice reverberating against the walls of the pit.
"Yes, because insulting people is a surefire way to get them to do what you want."The half orc sighed, turning to face him. "How about we try not to anger our potential rescuers hmm? Or whoever else these people could be for that matter."
A flash of amusement showed on the half orc's face at the triton's slight hesitation before calling her lady, a small, sharp smile tugging her lips. "You have a point." She admitted with a shrug. "But still, rescuers or enemies it won't pay to piss them off. They've left us alive so far and I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible." Glancing upwards once more, Entropy shook her head. "Even playing nice likely won't do us much good for long though. We need a plan, you and I. Before they come down here we need to have a plan."

"This is not Cur. This is Senik Nurov, famed treasure hunter and scholar. No doubt you have heard tales of my adventures. And who may you be?" Sen looks at the others on the surface level and shrugs unsure what to do with Merric or the ones in the pit.
Leaving the familiar equipment for the moment I grab up the rest and move back to the cage. Setting it down just outside the cage I bow slightly but formally. “Your affects m’lady.“ Straightening up I head over to my own gear and quickly start donning my armor.

Based on the muffled reply from above, Entropy could tell that their presence had not gone unnoticed. So when the Triton offered a potential way out she didn't question it, stepping back with a nod. "By all means." Her eyes widened as he vanished practically mid sentence, surprised look morphing quickly into a grin as he appeared on the other side of the bars right next to their pile of belongings. Grin growing as he dragged her pack and weapons belt over to her. Now that was a trick she needed to learn. For the short term however, she'd settle for being a bit more choosy about where she hid her lock picks. "Why thank you kindly good sir." She replied approvingly, snatching her weapons first and buckling the belt around her waist before crouching to rifle through her belongings in search of said picks "My name's Entropy by the way. We've shared a cage together, we might as well be on a first name basis too." She'd have to ask him about how exactly they'd wound up in the same cage later, the half orc immediately setting about unlocking the cage door once she found her picks. Not sure how much time they had before whoever was above came down to them nor what would happen when they did. One thing she was sure of, she was of no mind to be stuck behind bars for it.
"Friend or foe, I don't think they're going to be answering us soon. We have to figure out a way down into the pit, or at least to send one of us down there to see what the situation is," Dathyra said. "Technically, Merric would have been the easiest to get down there, him being lighter...but we'll have to think of something else."

”‘A pleasure to make thine acquaintance Lady Entropy. By the time I finish I turn to offer you more flowery words and find that you’ve unlocked the cage yourself. And I am speechless for the first time since I woke up in this damnable pit.
Jarlas Lohlasnath. Interesting name. Interesting that he said it like he expected her to already know it. Which she didn't. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well."Entropy replied nonetheless, amused by his odd way of speaking."Though I do wish the circumstances had been better."She'd gotten the door unlocked by the time the he'd finished putting on his armor. The half orc swinging the door open and tucking her lock picks into her boot for safe keeping before she straightened. Catching his surprised look with yet another grin. "Nice of you that, but I've got the first part handled at least. The second part I'd say we should work together on. While finding a way out of here, if you don't mind." She picked up her pack, slinging it over her shoulder and looking around. "Is there any way out beside up?"
”Umm...Yes. A way out would be good. I have yet to see another route besides ascending.” I point up with the trident I now carry. “Perhaps thou were correct. Those that ... walk above might offer us aid.“ The word walk seems to catch me up for a moment and sounds as though it is unfamiliar to me. “Shall we call to them and learn of their intentions?”
Those down in the pit can see the sheer incline up towards the dim light above.
You decide that a rope will probably be the best way up. Beyond where your belongings were, a darkened passage continues on. You get the sense that it leads somewhere, as the air feels different.
Up above, Merric slumbers as Durven tries to wake him and then failing that tries to make him comfortable. He searches for anything that may wake the halfling. Then the same voice that demanded a release and named you a Cur is calling up from somewhere underneath the ground. The voice is coming up through the vines.
Dathyra cautiously approached the edge of the pit after hearing the plea for help. While it did sound genuine, she remembered that sometimes her naivete could make her unable to see danger for what it was. Be cautious, she thought. "Hari, Sen, do either of you have a knife? If we could cut away the vines from the pit, I can at least get a light down there to see who's calling."
