The party gathers their gear and strikes out for the Sea Ward. An old wizard's tower, which has not been well kept, stands on an overgrown lot at the crossroads of Sul Street and Chasso's Trot. Lady Blackstaff stands there, whom only Mal has not met, with a concerned look on her face.
"We have a problem," she says. "The property has a new owner. I suspect she knows of the tower's importance to Dagult Neverember."
Indeed, looking towards the tower, a noblewoman is having an earnest meeting with three men, who appear to be guild representatives. They are pointing to various parts of the tower and scribbling on slates as they provide insight about the old building. The noblewoman is surrounded by four guards at various distances from her, each dressed in formal livery for the noble house they guard. The woman sees the party gathered and gives a sly smirk, then answers a question posed by one of the guild representatives.
Seeing Titus squinting, Mal puts a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We all get older eventually. Most of us, anyway." With his casual charm, Mal walks out into the street, pauses, and then looks back at Titus to see if he will walk with him to get a closer look at the guards.

Morphdoes not see any magical auras but Titus, conferring with Mal, concludes the uniforms represent House Rosznar. This suggests that the smirking young woman is likely to be Esvele Rosznar.
Malrecalls some details of Rosznar, but not much. They are a house with a black mark on their name. Something about being banished from Waterdeep several generations ago for slave trading. They are back in the city, but have not regained the respect they once had...and are probably a bit bitter about it.
Contrary to her family's wishes at earning respect for her house, Esvele made her name for openly rebelling, fueling the rumors about the Rosznar family bloodline. Her family clamped down on this behavior and she disappeared from society for a time. She has seemingly embraced her family's desire to put forth a respectable foot and has made little trouble, aside from whispers about why she has not yet married.

Titusscowls as he hears of an aristocratic who has besmirched the great city of Waterdeep. As a guardsmen who came from a long line of Dragonborn who served the city honorably, it makes his blood boil to hear of any member of the patrician class who shirked their ancient responsibilities and betrayed the Waterdavian state and people. He utters a Draconic curse in a low voice.
He thought harder on the name to see if he could remember anything further about the Rosznar family.
As Titusthinks on their new obstacle, he mulls over with his companions how to approach the Tower, "Perhaps we just bang on their door, inform them that we are on official business of the city, and proceed through to the entrance. If they are foolish enough to attack us they will be directly interfering with city's will, and we shall be forced to engage them with violence..."
Mal snaps his fingers. "There it is. I knew it'd come to me. And as far as city business goes, they probably have more credentials than we do in that regard - unless you can swing a personal instruction from the Blackstaff or somesuch trifle."
“I can tell them that we are on official city business and we require access to the property. I can be fairly convincing, especially considering it’s true.”
”Also, maybe that little stone of yours has some insight on the Rosznars?”

The conversation with the guild representatives begins to wrap up and the noblewoman strides over to the party, stopping at the edge of her property and speaking loudly enough to reach the ears of everyone, including plenty of passers-by.
"I'm afraid the property is not for sale, gentlemen, Lady Blackstaff," she says with a smirk.
The wizardess narrows her eyes as she studies the woman. "Esvele," she says, curtly. "A wizard tower seems like an odd fit for you."
"Well," says Lady Rosznar as she nonchalantly examines her nails. "I thought I might work my way up to high wizard some day."
Vajra Safahr scoffs.
Laniel, not picking up on the tension between the two women, says, "I take it we are not invited in to at least see the place."
Esvele Rosznar stares at Lanielas if he was speaking in the celestial tongue. "That depends," she says after a long silence. "Have you the keys to unlock the vault?"
Lanieland Blackstaff look at each other pointedly. Lady Rosznar smiles. "Delightful," she says. "Then perhaps we can come to an accord. Fifty-fifty split of the treasure. I grant you access, even join you perhaps, and you unlock the vault. Each party takes half of the gold."
Mal pops up from the floor. "Let's get to it! I really couldn't stand to be prone for too much longer!"

Morph makes a quick gesture and utters a quiet word, and his eyes begin to glow faintly blue.

"I think, if we can manage some way to get in, without calling on Lady Blackstaff's position and power, it would be better."
"Political currency isn't always so easy to get back once spent."
"There is nothing magical going on with the noble, her guards or the guild reps, as far as I am able to tell from here."
"I think for this one, we try the social route first?"
Morph looks at his friends.
"Any idea's how we should tackle it?"

His eyes narrow at Lady Rosznar's offer of a deal, then a slight smile creeps onto his lips, but disappears before it can take hold.
