"Ah, Laniel? You may want to slowly step back away from the statue."
"I detect an evocation enchantment on the statue. Evocation magic is usually the kind that kills through blasts, explosions and the like."
Morphmove the broom back and to the side, no longer in direct line with the doorway and the statue.
"Do want help getting back over the other side Laniel? We could maybe try triggering the magic from range? Not that I am sure we can trigger it from range."
Lanielsteps out of the doorway and, through a complicated ferrying back and forth, catches a ride on the broom back to the others. Malthen uses his mage hand to snake around the corner and pull on the trap door handle. It doesn't budge but a blast of fire bursts forth from the statue, blowing through the mage hand, which is unaffected by the blaze.
Titus folds his arms and examines the statue. He looks at the ancient Dwarven craftsmanship for any clue about what it means. He also looks around the room for other dwarven iconography that might relate to this strange trap.

Morph gets back on the broom and offers to take Titus closer, so he can see better.
While close enough to see the statue clearly, Morph tries to judge if the statue might be toppled with the right placement of strength (preferably his friends and not his own).
Investigation check to see off the statue could be toppled and cleared from the trap door: 18
Titus and Morph find that the statue is finely crafted and securely fixed to the floor. However, they also see that the trapdoor is basically painted on the stone and is not a real door at all.
Morph flies over, so he and Mal are in easy reach of their friend if help is needed.
Morph, still concentrating on Detect Magic, gives the statue and the trapdoor a quick look for any telltale glow of magic.

Morph is able to detect evocation magic on the statue.

Once everyone is clear, Mal will attempt to fiddle with the door and statue with a mage hand.
Laniel steps out of the doorway and, through a complicated ferrying back and forth, catches a ride on the broom back to the others. Mal then uses his mage hand to snake around the corner and pull on the trap door handle. It doesn't budge but a blast of fire bursts forth from the statue, blowing through the mage hand, which is unaffected by the blaze.
"Well, that's neat." Mal gives the handle a few more tugs.
Morph joins Mal, casting his own Mage Hand to try and open the door, by combining their strength.

The same result. The door does not even wiggle when the ring is pulled. But flame bursts forth from the statue.
"Right, ok...I'm going to see if I can do anything about the statue."
Morph raises his hands toward the statue across the broken bridge, and crosses them over each other, one behind the other.
Uttering an arcane word, Morph lets of an eldritch beam of magic at the statue.

The statue stands unfazed, but nor does it strike back.
(Is there room to fit in the space to yank on the trapdoor without getting hit by the fire?)
(the fire fills the room pretty thoroughly, so no.)
Titus folds his arms and examines the statue. He looks at the ancient Dwarven craftsmanship for any clue about what it means. He also looks around the room for other dwarven iconography that might relate to this strange trap.

Mal gets off the broom as Titus gets on.
Titus and Morph find that the statue is finely crafted and securely fixed to the floor. However, they also see that the trapdoor is basically painted on the stone and is not a real door at all.
"Ha! Well it looks like we try another door then, unless we start digging."
Morph grins at Titus, as they fly back to the others.
"The trapdoor isn't a trapdoor, it's a fake, meant to get people burned trying to open it."
Morph looks between Rethan and Mal.
"So do we want to try magic on either of the other doors, or maybe just some plain old lock picks?"
"I definitely see magic on the other two, but have no idea what will happen if we try to open then."

“We may as well try the next door, doesn’t seem like there is much to be done with this one here. Shall we try the middle arch?”

This door seems to be locked, although it has no keyhole; only a handle to push or pull the door with.
"Well, let's make it official and pick one, and I'll disable whatever magic is on it for a little while."
