"Oh Sh-!" Mal shuts up, remembering he is still invisible. He quickly sidesteps around the creature as it pools out from the crack, getting a side angle against the creature and preparing a saucy couplet for Titus. Reaching the other side, he will prepare to give the creature a prod with his rapier. (Hold help action for the next party member to make a melee attack against the creature).
"A dragon once said, 'Hey there, don't lose you head! Worry not about silver or gold. Be forthright, honest, and bold!'"
The middle bridge has a 15 foot wide gap in the center of it. The other two appear to be connected but it is difficult to say which is the more stable of the two. Across the bridges, there is little to explore. Each bridge ends in a large, adamantine door.
Morphcan see that the door in front of him and the one to the north (his left) are enchanted with an abjuration spell. The door to his right (south) does not have such an enchantment. Malcannot see any physical locking mechanisms that he could pick, but he does think it could be forced open with a strong push.
(Would detect magic grant any further insight into the kind of enchantment? I picked up the spell Knock, which allows me to turn off a magical lock for 10 min. If that is what we are looking at, that could be our way forward.)
Titus looks around, and as the more arcanely inclined among their number discuss flying brooms and abjuration spells he takes this opportunity to speak with Elezu and Zakul.
“You’re doing just fine out there lads, I’m sure that this place is a bit more intense than what you are accustomed to... to be honest it’s a bit more than I’m accustomed to too. Now listen, just stick by my side and we three are a formidable frontline. With Elezu at my right and Zakul to my left, who can stop us, eh?” He laughs a bit and does his best to lift their spirits, as he learned to do with the soldiers who served under him.

Lanielnods. "That seems simple enough." He steps out onto the southern most bridge carefully, ignoring the protestations of his companions. When the monk is halfway across the bridge, it begins to collapse! He dives to try and escape a 60 foot fall.

Lanieleffortlessly rolls across to the other side of the bridge, standing up with a smile and dusting off his loose robes. He pushes open the door, which moves stiffly, but easily. Inside stands a 10-foot tall painted statue of a dwarf. (16) "I don't recognize him," Laniel says.
At the statue's feet is a trap door with a ring handle on it. Laniellooks to the others.

"A dragon once said, 'Hey there, don't lose you head! Worry not about silver or gold. Be forthright, honest, and bold!'"
Titus roars at the creature with a primal Dragonborn battle cry, he positions himself near Mal and swings his axe at the creature.
Attack: 20 Damage: 5
As he makes contact with the creature, he will call upon the honored soldiers of the citiy’s past to imbue his strike with divine power.
Divine Smite: 15

(Advantage roll in case it is a 20: 15)
Lady Blackstaff and Esvele Rosznar both draw weapons and fall upon the black pudding as soon as it emerges.
Blackstaff casts firebolt at the ooze: Attack: 30 Damage: 25
Esvele steps in with a rapier drawn and slashes at the black pudding three times in rapid succession. Her form is precise and deadly.
Rapier Attack: 26 Damage: 10 + 12 on the first successful hit.
Rapier Attack: 25 Damage: 7
Rapier Attack: 17 Damage: 10
She then disengages and moves back behind Laniel and Rethan.
On the last strike, the black pudding falls still, smoking from Blackstaff's deadly fire.
(Amazingly, combat has ended!)
OOC: do I still have a divine smite charge then? Sounds like these two took this thing down before Titus could strike, right?
Edit: Awesome, glad the smite was worth it!

Nope, Titus was both first and necessary in bringing it down. Total damage delivered was just 3 points over its health.
Rethan looks across the three bridges, trying to decide which looks the most stable, then sends Midnight across to continue exploring.
The middle bridge has a 15 foot wide gap in the center of it. The other two appear to be connected but it is difficult to say which is the more stable of the two. Across the bridges, there is little to explore. Each bridge ends in a large, adamantine door.

"Hmm. Can't break through those so easily. But, I wonder... Get me over to one of the doors - I might be able to get it open."
Morph pulls out his broom, hovering just above the floor and helps Mal up behind him.
"Right, lets just avoid the issue of if the bridge can hold our weight."
Morph shoots out just above the bridges, moving over to the door of the middle bridge.
Morph nods to Mal.
"You can stay on or step off, I will wait here in case we need a quick retreat."

Mal examines the middle doorway from the broom, especially to discern what locking mechanisms might be in place.
"Do these look magical to you?"
Morph quickly casts Detect Magic, his eyes again glowing a pale blue, as he turns to the door.
Morph scans the door and its surrounding supports for any magical glow.

"We have two enchanted doors, this one in front of us and the one to our left here."
Morph points out the doors.
"The other door doesn't appear to have any enchantment, that I can detect."
"These two doors are enchanted with an abjuration magic, so a more protective sort of magic, like shields, locks or alarms, that sort of thing."
Morph turns to face Mal.
"Do we wont to try the non-enchanted door first or do you have some magic that can dispel or break abjuration magic?"

Zaku (the shorter one) carries a longbow and 2 short swords.
Elezu carries a shortbow, 2 daggers, and a rapier.
"The non-enchanted one seems like the safest one to attempt first," Rethan opines.
Laniel nods. "That seems simple enough." He steps out onto the southern most bridge carefully, ignoring the protestations of his companions. When the monk is halfway across the bridge, it begins to collapse! He dives to try and escape a 60 foot fall.

"Well, no sense in being shy now, after that demonstration. Give it a yank."
