”I trust her.” States Titus, “I can use my abilities to heal her, and we can then make our way to this windmill. I don’t think she is in any position to overpower the likes of us, and clearly she has reason to second guess following Asmodeus”
She leads the group out of the tomb into the daylight and oppressive heat of almost midday. No one seems to notice or care as six people emerge from the Cassalanter mausoleum. Then she leads them out of the city of the dead into the Trade Ward. The route she takes is a little more Westerly than Southerly and this causes Morph and Rethan to cast concerned looks at each other.
"Wait here," she says eventually, stopping in front of a flower shop still in the Trade Ward. She unlocks the door with a key stashed inside a hanging pot of flowers and ducks inside for a full two minutes. When she emerges, she is strapping a scimitar to her waist. "Okay, it's not too much farther."
This time she leads them south and east towards the Caravan Court that borders the Trade and South Wards. Everyone is dripping with sweat as they finally approach the broken down windmill she described. Vaelle wastes no time, barging into the decrepit building ahead of the much better trained and equipped adventurers.
Striving to keep up but weapons drawn and at the ready, the five heroes follow into the muggy and musty structure to find transient people milling about on the ground floor. Vaelle is already heading for the stone staircase. "Don't mind them," she says. "Squatters." Then she disappears up the stairs.
"I dont like running headlong into a fight with an unknown number of unknown people, at the direction of a self confessed worshipper of Asmodeus."
Morphcalls out to Vaelle,
"Vaellestop! We need to know more before we head any further."
"Firstly where are you taking us? We know it is here in this building, but what is it? A meeting place? A fortified safe house? What should we be expecting up there?"
"And secondly, who are we expecting to be there? How are they likely to be armed, if at all? Would they be expecting any attacks?"
"We need more information before we take another step."
"Sounds like she found the room she's looking for," Rethan says, peering ahead in the direction Vaelle went. "We should probably follow quickly. I don't love running into danger without any idea what we're headed for either, but leaving her to go off by herself doesn't seem like a great plan either."
Upstairs, Lanieland Rethanfind Vaellebanging on one of the southern doors, which appears to have a a new lock and hinges on it. The other doors are in various states of disrepair, as is the large millstone in the center of the tower.
Titus will hustle up the stairs and takes a position next to Laniel and Rethan, and prepares his shield to guard against any incoming attacks against him or his allies.
As he watches the woman scream profanities at whoever lies behind the closed door, Titus speakssoftly so only they can hear. “Not exactly what I expected... but these people must be connected somehow to our investigation. Perhaps we can gain some insight by simply watching how this plays out? I’m happy to heal the injured, but I’m less keen to blindly fight on her behalf.”

"Not really, stranger." Mal grins at the transient. "We don't know her or her friends terribly well, but it seems they've had a bit of a falling out that needs resolution. Know anything?"
Leaning close to the transient, he whispers, "Might be a good chance to loot whatever they've got tucked away up there, neh? Help us out, and walk out with whatever you can carry so long as it wasn't mine to begin with." Mal winks and begins to follow his friends up the staircase.
Vaellecontinues to pound on the door on the other side of the old, broken stonemill for a moment as Titusand Morphfall in behind Rethanand Laniel. From the top of the stairs, Malhears her stop and say to the group, "A little help? They took my keys after they left me for dead."

Again, he has no luck. "Here, let me spot for you," Laniel says, laying on his side below the lock, looking up into it.
At the bottom of the stairs, a couple of transients gather, looking up at Malbut mainly out of curiosity.

This time the lock clicks three times as Lanielhelps Rethanguide each tool to the proper location. The door swings open to reveal two humans in the same robes as Vaellehanding an item to one of three spined devils. They all three turn and hiss simultaneously at Rethanand Vaelle, then bolt for the open window.

Morphmutters some arcane words and gestures with his hands, as he finishes he points at Arn, and flames of golden-white radiance, appears over Arn and engulfs him.

There is no response to Morph's litany of questions. Instead, they hear a distant pounding and Vaelle's muffled voice. "Open up, ********!"
