While scrutinizing the room, Morphfinds the recessed bas relief panel containing the Nalfeshnee has a (nonmagical) latch that releases a secret door. Interestingly, the bas relief panel on the north wall has a similar latch that also releases the panel opening into a second secret passage.
Meanwhile, Midnightdescends 10 feet of stairs into an oddly-shaped room with numerous pillars. On the northeast pillar, the skeleton of a constrictor snake coils around the top of the pillar. Before Midnightcan explore the room further, movement darts south, into a passage leading out of the room.

"Ok, so it doesn't look like any magic, but look here, there is a latch."
Morphwalks forward, holding his lighted rod out and points out the latch on the southern wall, and then turns and indicates the northern wall, showing it has a latch also.
"Well, shell we try this one?"
Morphsteps closer to the southern latch and opens the panel. Holding his rob high Morphpeers in, to see what's beyond.

The secret door the south opens to reveal an empty 10-foot-square cubicle with a 5-foot-wide tunnel of rough-hewn stone leading away from it. The tunnel descends slightly into the darkness.
Titus peers into the darkness as he watches midnight. His back is to the kenku as his friends examine the demonic painting and the passages within, his shield is held at the ready as he stoically stands guard.
Seeing movement down the hall, he alerts his companions and takes a few steps down the hall towards Midnight. “Better bring him back Rethan... he’s not alone down there.”

Midnight stalks slowly and quietly toward where the passage where he saw the movement.
Atuanjoins Morph in exploring the room beyond the secret panel, taking particular interest of the further exit leading further and downward. "Probably a shortcut put in to avoid all the traps for regular intruders, right?"
“Nice find my friends. It makes sense to explore this passage before we move forward, but let’s wait to put down any of that paint until we check the main hallway.”

Morphsilently indicates to his Unseen Servant, to paint the line along the wall, but below the carvings, until it is just before the north wall secret panel.
"We can decide where to go from there and paint the line either, into the north passage, across the floor to the south passage, or keep going towards the stairs."
Morphwaits for his friends to check the stairs and any dangers down that way, before make any more decisions about direction.
Morphis not able to see all the way around the bend and must leave the doorway to explore further. Laniel holds it for him as he creeps along the passageway. The smell of putrid water soon strikes his nose, shortly before he comes about a room that appears to be flooded. The floor slants to the west, down into the water for who knows how far. Towards the west wall, partially submerged in the smelly water, is a statue of a sahuagin. It's head is twisted backwards and its arm has been removed or broken off. The statue is glowing slightly purple, and thus it appears magic to Morph. It appears to be evocation magic.
There is no obvious exit to this room.

While his cat scouts out to try to figure out what was moving in the other passage, Rethan follows the rest of the group into the newly discovered one.
Once midnight hits the dark hallway, rather than send the cat into the darkness blind, Rethan dismisses his familiar and resummons it by his side.
"Cat isn't quite as useful if we're exploring a dark dungeon," he says to the others. "Might be worth doing the ritual again when we have time so I can change him to a more useful form. A bat or a rat maybe," he muses.

He both tries to keep the door open with one outstretched arm and peer further around the bend, holding his light up to see any more details.

"Hmm, well that doesn't look promising."
Morph moves back to Laniel and Atuan, at the door to the secret passage.
"We have a flooded room and an enchanted statue that is probably a trap."
"Also, it stinks like the abyss down there. I vote we check out the north secret panel, or go down the main stairs."
Morph waves his hand in front of his nose to ward of the terrible smell.

Midnight creeps through the forest of pillars and peers down the south passage. It climbs about 10 steps and looks down a long, dark hallway.
Titus finds no obvious purpose to the flooded room.
Once midnight hits the dark hallway, rather than send the cat into the darkness blind, Rethan dismisses his familiar and resummons it by his side.
"Cat isn't quite as useful if we're exploring a dark dungeon," he says to the others. "Might be worth doing the ritual again when we have time so I can change him to a more useful form. A bat or a rat maybe," he muses.
Morph looks surprised by Rethan's word,
"Oh, you can choose a new form by casting the ritual again, that's handy. You here that Lucy, we can change your form."
"Do we want to check the north secret panel, before we move on? It could just end up being another dead end, like the south one, but you never know."
