Ira takes notes as Volothamp speaks, noting everything down. "I'll go over this with our companions, but I'm sure they can be persuaded. I do have one condition, one scholar to another. When this is all said and done, I would love to talk to you about some things. My area of expertise is religions," she points to her book on the Ordning, "but I feel that some things are not documented as well as they should be, and I was hoping you could fill in some of the blanks in my education."
Not that I don't love Brasy as much as the next goblin, but do we see Yagra or Durnan? Should we roll a perception check?
Durnan is behind the bar, cleaning the troll blood off his sword. Yagra was knocked unconscious during the fist fight and is being carried to the back room by a couple of the staff. You don't see the tattooed human and his friends anywhere.

"Would you be willing to wait here while I speak to my companions?" Ira asks Volothamp, looking at her decent portrait. "I'm sure it shouldn't be too long, and it's not my tab you're running up." she says, winking at him as she starts collecting her stuff.
Ira picks up her things into a leather satchel, strapping the shortsword loosely to her side, "I'll go convince my companions and we'll be back soon." She then begins moving down the stairs to look for Standobras, Aegis, Gaz and Game.
Not incredibly interested in just another bar fight, Gaz goes up to the bar and tries to ask as casually as possible "Hey Durnan, that whole Troll business was crazy, weird that it was so close to the surface isn't it?"
Gaz - Durnan will shrug, "Eh. It happens. " He'll look up from his work and squint at you. "Dangerous down there." He puts the sword back in its place under the bar, seemingly done answering you... seems like Durnan's not much of a talker.
Ira - The others are easy to spot when you get to the first floor. Gaz is at the bar talking to Durnan, your brother is at a table talking to Jalester, and the other two are at the bottom of the staircase watching the crowd.
"Yeah, figured it wasn't that weird considering where we are. Anyway, nice swings on that troll, if you ever need a hand I'm not hard to find" and with a nod he turns around and walks back with the other two.
Aegis: The people carrying Yagra pause for a moment, giving you a little bit of a stink eye. Yagra is a large woman and not easy to lift. One of them raises his eyebrows at you expectantly, "Yeah, what you want?"

Ira makes her way down the stairs, over to where Standobras is. [[Deception to try to hide her excitement: 9]] "Umm... Standobras. You know who just came to see me? VOLOTHAMP!" she exclaims a little louder than intended. "He has a job for us and I'd really... REALLY, like to take it. Can we please?"
Standobras, who was engaged in light conversation with Jalester and - having not gained much in the way of useful information - looks up at his sister and says ''Volothamp you say dear sister! Well, that is indeed very interesting to say the least, my guess is that he couldn't help but be drawn to a fellow scholar. His timing couldn't be better and, in fact, I believe that his arrival is a godsend. My heart lightens at seeing you so enthused so you can most certainly count me in. Now, err, forgive me for asking but, what exactly does said job entail, pray tell?'' At that, he will stand up, shake Jalester's hand and thank him for his time and company (he is being sincere). He then puts his right hand on Ira's left shoulder, looks her in the eye, and with a warm smile says; ''well, do lead on dear, you can tell me all about it on the way to...well to wherever it is we're going.''
Aegis stops in front of them and recomposes themselves.
“On behalf of the Watchful Order I would like to request you rouse Miss Yagra. I would like to report the reasoning behind this unruly display to the other magisters.”
The glass orbs he has inlaid on his “skull” flicker on and off to simulate blinking; to ease the minds of average folk.
Ira, with a smile on her face that she's unable to conceal, starts looking for the rest of the band. "Missing persons brother, shouldn't be too difficult if we throw some resources at it and do some legwork of our own." She takes off with a little spring in her step, rattling off several works, "Volo's Guide to All Things Magical, Volo's Guide to Cormyr, Volo's Guide to the Dalelands, Volo's Guide to the Swordcoast ... I simply must ask him if the rumours about unreleased works are true! Just imagine! In academic circles there's been rumours for years surrounding books on the Moonsea and even behavioural studies on Nymps! Nymphs of all things!"
"I've yet to make major publications on my own. It'd be fantastic to pick his brains about various subjects that he's studied, regions he's travelled... I made that one of the conditions by the way, at the end I get to pick his brains clean." she smiles honestly now, looking at Standobras, very content with herself.
Wonderful, we’re looking for a stray cat and it so happens we have two with us right now, metaphorically speaking of course. I do think that we should extend the invitation to both Gaz and Game as they surely will be able to offer insight into some quarters of the city that we don’t often venture into. Standobras then scans the room, looking for Aegis, Gaz and Game. Perception check 23.
If he notices any of them he’ll either attempt to get the closest one’s attention (if sociably acceptable – i.e. he won’t shout across the room) and motion them over. He’ll then make his way to the other.
If he can’t spot any of them, he’ll grab his chin pensively and say; Hmm, I wonder where they’ve gone off to.
Regardless of the Perception check outcome, he then says; It really is a wonderful happenstance that you should meet Volothamp here of all places. Now, (Standobras leans in conspiratorially towards Ira) I’m no expert in these matters but, if you deem it acceptable, you should ask him if he’d be willing to review your work in the future, perhaps even include a preface. Just food for thought sis. You don’t want to push too far but if we are successful in helping him then he may be amiable to the idea.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Standobras: You easily spot your companions. Gaz is at the bar talking to Durnan and Game is at the foot of the stairs, looking like he's trying to figure out what to do. You wave at the two of them to get their attention. Aegis is busy talking to a group of Yawning Portal staff who are struggling to carry a very unconscious Yagra.
Game & Gaz: You see Standobras waving you over.
Aegis: The worker that you've been talking to says, "Well we tried splashin' water on her face but she didn't come round. Might be some time before she wakes."
Gaz saunters over to Standobras now that he is done with his little conversation "well, seems like trolls just kindda crawl out now and then, guess that's part of the charm. Did something good happen with the stranger upstairs lady Ira? You look pretty happy."
As Gaz catches up, Standobras (who is now walking towards Aegis) will say; Goodman Gaz, would you perchance be interested in earning some coin by helping locate somebody's recently missing friend? Provided of course that it does not offend your sensibilities (this is accompanied by a wink directed at Gaz). If you are up for it then I daresay you should extend the invitation to Game, if you think it appropriate. Upon reaching Aegis’ location, hequickly looks Yagra over, then looks at Aegis; What seems to be the problem here Aegis?
If Aegis mentions he wants to speak to Yagra then Standobras will gently touch her forehead, whisper a quick word to Angharradh under his breath, and hope that she wakes. (spending one 1 pt of Lay on Hands to heal her for 1 HP). If Aegis doesn’t indicate he’d like to speak with Yagra then Standobras will put a hand on his shoulder and say Come Aegis, my sister is in urgent need of your services.

"Of course of course! I would be delighted! Please, speak with your companions and see if they are agreeable to my offer."
For those of you who have gone downstairs, it's easy enough to spot Standobras where he is conversing with Jalester.

As Aegis scans the main floor, realizing that 2 of their 3 purposes have departed, they take off after those carrying Yagra.
”Excuse me!” They shout. “Please! Wait.”
He is walking at a careful, leisurely pace following the folk carting her into the back.
