"Yes, there is an old camp on that island, I could see it a little bit from up on the stump. Let's go check it out real quick. There was an old bridge, but I'm not sure if we can cross on it anymore."
"Oh, did anyone look at this lizard corpse?"

Mazin will goes over to Wazzok "I suppose we could bring the whole body, but I think a talon would be enough. The animals here would enjoy the rest, I think."
((If Wazzok tells Mazin about the cart)) "Should we pull it up? If we work together it might not be too bad."
As Kestrell and Altani mention the island, Mazin will take a look. That's a little bit wider than that brook back in Talonwood. I made that jump without too much difficulty. "I can try jumping across. Then I could throw a rope and help people come across."
Putting the gold away for now, Cinder examines the shield before taking it back to the group. “Anyone recognize this symbol?” ((Does the shield seem to have magical markings on it anywhere?))

The giant lizard corpse is fairly fresh, its stomach and innards opened and torn. The creature's eyes are likewise missing. Ten feet long from nose-to-tail, the large creature's scales are a dark brown rather than the usual green. Two torn strips of black leather circle its savaged torso.
Circling to the soggy Eastern edge of the lagoon, you examine the two broken slats and sunken poles on the shore, looking across the fifteen foot of dark water to the opposite shore of the small rocky island, noticing a single crooked support and boken slat connected by rotted rope. The bridge looks like it has been in disrepair for a long time, decades perhaps. There is not enough bridge left to cross and even its remaining supports look unsteady.
Now standing closer, you notice the handle of a submerged cart poking up near the far shore of the island, to the left (as Kestrell stands now) of the bridge's ruined footings.

Putting the gold away for now, Cinder examines the shield before taking it back to the group. “Anyone recognize this symbol?” ((Does the shield seem to have magical markings on it anywhere?))
Despite the wear and tear on its leather fittings and its filthy resting place amidst the refuse of the harpy's lair, the steel of the shield glimmers brightly and its red tower emblem gleams clean and unblemished. You see no other markings on the shield.
[OOC] Confirming whether or not an item is magical (and if so, what it does) usually requires a short rest or detect magic spell. If a PC is proficient in either arcana skill or a relevant tool proficiency, they can make a skill or prof check to see whether they think the item may be enchanted. The reason for all of the above is that most low level PCs are not overly familiar with enchanted items and how to identify them.

"Let me take a look please Cinder." Alwin says as he begins to move over to Cinder and begin looking at the shield and it's markings trying to recall anything useful from his arcane or historical knowledge.
The icy cold of the water hits Wazzok with a suddeness that steals her breath, even as the burly half-orcs boots try to find purchase on the soft, slimmy floor of the lagoon. The bank drops off sharply and after only a step or two, the cleric is up to her shoulders in the cold, silty water. Making Wazzock's attempt to walk across even more difficult is the fact that the lagoon's bottom seems to have accrued a hoard of branches, rocks and other debri over time. Managing to not slip under despite the trecherous passage, Wazzok is about halfway across, with the water now up to her chin, when she feels something move against her left calf.
[OOC] DC for walking across the trecherous floor of the lagoon is 15. Taking the Athletics roll of 14, Wazzok doesnt get all the way across, but doesnt fall either. Another athletics check of 10 or more will get her the rest of the way.
However, the unseen but decidedly present wildlife in the lagoon may react poorly to the intrusion. Dexterity save DC 12. On a fail, Wazzok takes 4 piercing damage as something beneath the water bites her. No probs on a success, though an athletics roll of less than 10 will require Wazzok to repeat the process next round.

Unfortunately, the shield itself appears no different to many others Alwin has seen and the emblem is not recognisable to the half-elven fighter. The most that Alwin can discern with his brief examination is that the shield is not of Elvish make.

When Mazin see's Wazzock start to ford the river, he will step back from the ledge. Taking a quick look at the distance, he nods to himself. He will run and make a long jump across the distance.
((OOC: I think he should clear it, his long jump is 18ft. Athletics to stick the landing?))
Seeing Wazzock look like she's in pain, and Mazin start to jump across, Kestrell quickly sheds his pack and equipment. Then he turns his back and strips off his clothes and uses Prestidigitation to create the symbol of a smiley face over his jiggly bits.

With a few long, loping strides and a single mighty leap Mazin clears the entire 15' expanse of water, landing safely though with a solid *thwack* upon the stone island. Reaching out towards Wazzok who is already experiencing some difficulty at wading through the lagoons waters, the long-limbed warrior provides the half-orc with aid, even as Kestrell appears to get tangled in swamp weeds and pulled under.

"Apparently I've forgotten how to swim!" Kestrell thinks to himself as he flounders.
While the surface of the water looks clear, Kestrell soon realises that the lagoon's depths are anything but, as his right ankle gets snagged by what the sorcerer assumes are swamp weeds of some kind. Thinking to simply swim on and pull free, the naked half-elf instead manages only to entangle himself further, eventually feeling himself slip beneath the murky water. Still near the surface, Kestrell can just make out the cluttered floor of the lagoon, as well as the lurking tangle of marsh grasses that he has inadvertantly enmeshed himself within. Noticing a number of long snake-like forms beneath the water, Kestrell is alarmed to see a few drifting closer and closer.
[OOC] Kestrell is grappled by the weeds and must make a Dexterity save DC 12 or 3 piercing damage from the school of lagoon eels that call this place home.
Then an athletics check DC10 to break of the grapple and surface, and another to kick across to the island.

"What the heck is going on?"Kestrell thinks to himself. "This is not how it is supposed to be. I hate seaweed. It is all slimy and gross and oh my gods are those eels?" Kestrell starts to panic and thrash around under water, then remembering his tutor, Naive, and her lessons on mental control he gets a hold of himself and thinks "I've never done this before." before launching a Frostbite at the closest eel out of habit. As he opens his mouth for the verbal components of the spell, some of his precious air escapes and the words don't form correctly underwater. The spell fizzles out.
