An adventure for all DnD newbies out there. I am currently restraining myself from dropping my homebrew on your heads, so you have to stick to the stuff in VGTM, PHB, SCAG, EE, DMG and UA.
Use standard array, but the only human is variant human, and no orcs allowed. This adventure will take place in my magical realm homebrew universe.
Story: The streets of Pel are teeming with crime, and since the war started, trouble is rising. Kobold gangs, wererat rogues, brutish thugs, and many others are storming the land, and the war is slowly but surely being lost. Almost every abled-bodied person is out fighting the battle, and the poor, the crippled, and the ill are left to rot with the thugs while the rich lay in their opulent halls. And now, you adventurers are hired to clean up the town.
Post if you want to join. I will want about 5 people but 8 is the absolute max.
Hey hey! I'm a veteran to DnD as both a player and a DM. I'm incredibly friendly and an avid descriptive roleplayer. Is it possible that I could join too?
Sweet, awesome! Does Unearthed Arcana count as WOTC stuff or just officially released in books? There's not a ton of options obviously, but there's some cool feats for those taking variant human or warlock of course.
Is it okay if my character is a daughter of a noble family that bears a dragonmark (found here)? She'd have the Mark of Passage, which is all about merchant trading and exploration and travel and all that.
If that's okay, could she also pick up Draconic, Undercommon, and Sylvan as her languages? First is from human, other two is from customized background. Since her family would be big on merchants and trading, I imagine they would teach her those languages as well thinking she'd join the family business (she's not :P). I might swap Sylvan out for Dwarvish though because I don't think fey trade a lot.
Sorry, but my Eberron campaign is dead. It has been claimed by the Keeper, and as such, no Eberron stuff here. Try your luck somewhere else. I WILL be accepting the Changeling from the Eberron UA but nothing else.
Darn, alrighty. I'll swap it out for another feat then, but I like the noble merchant daughter idea enough to play it still. Are the above exotic languages still okay or would it be easier for me to pick some common languages instead?
equipment: insignia of rank,a broken knife,deck of cards,common cloths,10gp,handax,dungeoneers pack,10 darts
Personality: I can stare down a hellhound without flintching, my city is all that matters to me, I fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, my hatred of my enemy's is blind and unreasoning.
history: (dm change pending) Gram was born to a couple of poor general store owners, when the gangs started to push into his family street his father become a public figure in the community to try to push them out much to the distain of the gangs. It came to a head when Gram with his mother came home from shopping to find both the store destroyed and his father brutally slain. His mother fearing more retaliation took him to live with her aunt out in the country. He never quite let go of his fathers ideals and his murder. When the war came he was one of the first to enlist where the army found that his expertise laid in infiltration and gurilla warfare after his tour he was let go. With his new training he returns home to Pel to try to bring some justice to the rotten core of the city.

I never knew my parents. I was adopted and raised by a tribe of human nomads. They were killed by a combination of bandits, enemy soldiers, and bad luck. I was forced to grow up much faster than normal for an elf. I wound up a mercenary, leader of a small all-female company. Most of them died too. The only ones who might have survived that ambush are my second in command, Niall Coineagan; and the company mage, Adaidh Seadhg. It was in that ambush that I discovered my powers as a mystic.

Cool cool! I'll be finishing my character this morning or by tomorrow. I have most of the character sheet done, just need to finish inventory and write up a bit of backstory and description.

Mmmmm, what do you think of my PC be part of your female company? I'd like to play a Tabaxi ranger
Yes, you can have a spot. Also, you don't need my special recipe moonshine homebrew. This is totally vanilla. Also, if any of you players need help generating a character, this character generator can help.

You can join, starting at level 1, only WOTC stuff, so none of my homebrew if you (somehow) got it.

1st level, eh? Well, there goes that idea; I am not playing a 1st-level paladin.

UA is okay, except for modern, past versions of updated ones, and the artificer (it is so bad I can't even bear to think about it)
