While you've been talking about the property, Renaer retrieves another round of drinks for the table. After he passes them out and returns to his chair he looks to the most vocal pair of the group, Vassa and Silver. "About that treasure that my father supposedly embezzled. It wasn't just a few thousand coins. The story is, the treasure he's hidden in Waterdeep iS the in the area of half a million dragons."
After saying this, Renaer pauses for everyone's reactions. He smiles when Aenio chokes on his drink.
"As you can imagine, more than just the criminal organizations are after this. And my fear is the streets will soon run red with those caught up in it. I'm part of an organization that is dedicated to helping maintain peace and safety. In this current situation, we also want to make sure no tyrants or the like get their hands on this treasure. But more to my point, with your recent activities you have undoubtedly angered both the Zhents and Xanathar. This puts you all in danger. If you're willing, I'd like to have one of our order join you, not a warrior to fight for you, as I don't think you need it, but a cleric to work with you and keep you in good health."
Three things go through Vassa's mind as he listens as nonchalantly as he can to Raener's words - 1. that's a LOT of zeros and more gold than the half-drow would honestly know what to spend on... but solving this mystery could undoubtedly prove the stuff of ballads and legends, 2. Raener is NOT wrong about the extreme lengths that people would go to for that sort of coin and aligning themselves with powerful allies might definitey be in their favour... especially if Raener knows of a reliable healer who might be willing to join their little party, and 3. Asa's silver hair and purple eyes really do catch the tavern's hearth light quite nicely and the sorceress has an extradordinarily pleasant laugh.
Feeling pleasantly warm and becoming a little light headed from the wine on top of his mounting fatigue, Vassa looks his compan... no, the bard realises. Not companions, the half-drow looks his friends in the eyes to gauge their interest in the noble's suggestions and to let them know that the bard is open to counter-suggestions. When no one speaks up in the contrary, he smiles as he drains the glass of red in his long-fingered hand, replying,'
"Open a tavern, you say? Well, Volo, you sure know how to tempt a fellow. We will certainly take a look at this property and should it meet our admittedly high expectations and standards, then I dare say that we'll take it off your hands."
With a concerned glance at the injured Kes and Locky before turning to Raener, Vassa says thoughtfully and without the usual note of casual humour and wit in his voice,'
"I find the idea of painting the town red considerably less appealing if the streets are already coated in blood, Raener. Consider me, we, US, intrigued by your offer and at the very least willing to meet with a representative of this order and your healer friend. Beyond that I can make no promises. Time enough for solid committments tomorrow after a good nights well earned rest, eh?"
Turning to lean in at Silver's side, Vassa will pat the sneak's arm as he whispers prior to getting up to find his bed for the night,'
"Well played today, Silver. You made some good decisions when they needed to be made, and I'm glad that you did... and that you're here with us now. I've been doing a mental inventory of the day's haul, and I believe that come tomorrow you'll be quite glad yourself... even leaving out the matter of OUR pending elavation into the ranks of landed gentry. He just stands up and stretches "Well I'm off for the night lads and lady, enjoy yourselves." with that he just walks over to the barkeep and asks how much for a room with a bath.
As Vassa and Silver get up from the table, Volo takes the property deed and puts it back in the tube for safe keeping. "I'll leave you all to rest and bathe. How about we meet at Trollskull Manor around noonday? That should get you all 5 or so hours to sleep?"
With nods of agreement and excited talk about baths from Kestrell, Aenio, and Asariel the group vacates the table and heads over Durnan in time to hear him tell Silver that the expense for all their rooms for the night have already been taken care of by Volo.

Reaching the table, hoping to find all of his friends ready for the day's promising activities, Vassa says with a beaming smile,'

Silver just sits at the table sipping his coffee and enjoying the meal as Vassa passes around the money "Greetings and thank you. When did you all want to head out?" he asks looking around the table.
Aenio looks up at the mention of his name, "Yeah, I looked through it last night when I should have been resting. It'll take me a few days to copy all the spells in it over to my own book and then we can shop it around and see how much it's worth."
[OCC] I've added the 8 gold 2 silver to the character sheets for Aenio, Asariel, Kestrell, and Lockbox.
After a quick breakfast the crew leaves and heads to their meeting with Volo at Trollskull Manor. When they arrive they find the estemed author quite upset and yelling at a poltergeist that's floating around the remains of the bar. Renaer is leaning against the opposite wall, dressed quite a bit better than when you last saw him, chuckling at Volo's antics. Standing next to Renaer is a young, blonde haired woman wearing scale mail armor. She has a confused expression on her face as she looks from Renaer to Volo and back, as if she's waiting for permission to help.
Seeing the adventurers walk in, Volo grins and looks back to the poltergeist, "In a few more minutes they'll be the new owners and you can harass them." With that Volo turns around and walks to a table where some papers are laid out. He slides a chair out and grips the arms tightly as he sits. Behind him the poltergeist sticks its tongue out.
"I'm glad you all could make it. Come, come, sit down." Seeing everyone looking over his shoulders Volo winces, "Just ignore him. I spent days in this place looking for the being that was haunting it and never found anything. Today I walk in and he decides to show himself. Almost as if he knows I'm no longer trying to write about him. Anyway, he's harmless as long as you keep a good grip on your chair when you're sitting down. As best as I can figure, he's the tavern’s previous barkeeper, Lif. And a bit of a practical joker."
Volo then shows you a sketch of the floor plan, "This was how the place was set up the last time it was in use. Of course, if you accept the building as payment in full for services rendered, you'll be able to remodel however you want."
Silver just nods looking at the floor plan as his finger falls onto the bedroom of the third floor opposite of the master bedroom "I say we take it - calling dibs on this bedroom."
Lockbox looks at the floor plan, feeling strange feelings at the thought of having a place of his own. "I don't need a bedroom, since I don't sleep. If I could have this room," pointing at the attic storage room, "to sit and do maintenance on myself and to store my things, that would be fine."
Asariel looks at the floor plan and then around the room and then to the people around the table, "Shouldn't we decide if we're taking the property before we start picking out rooms? I vote we accept Master Geddarm's offer. Anyone vote against?"
Silver just sits at the table sipping his coffee and enjoying the meal as Vassa passes around the money "Greetings and thank you. When did you all want to head out?" he asks looking around the table.
"You're most welcome, Silver. No time like the present, I guess. Let's finish our breakfast and head straight over!
Ohh... one thing though, everyone. I've been thinking more about what Raener said about the enemies we've made, and he's not wrong. I only bring it up again because I would like everyone to keep it at the back of their minds when we're out and about, wheelin' and dealin' and such. Let's not have any of US go missing... though if any of you did, well... you have my word that I'd come looking and wouldn't stop till I'd found you.
Now let's go join the aristocracy. Ha! If we head up Snail Street, follow the High Road and then turn right onto Saerdoun Street, we'll be there in a jiffy!"
'Vassa waves goodbye to Durnan as he leaves, holding open the tavern's door for Asa while the bard casts a searching gaze up and down the street. Any of his friends being attentive will notice the bard being unusually attentive to alley mouths, door ways and second-floor windows that they pass, though it's clear the bard is trying to be circumspect in his alertness. Anyone familiar with the city would note that he's leading them up main streets only, avoiding short-cuts down alleys and side-streets.
The only place Vassa will stop along the way is Meiroth's Fine Silks near Scroll Street, which the bard pops into for only a moment before rejoining his friends.'

'Unable to fully ignore the poltergeist despite Volo's assurances, Vassa also keeps an appraising eye on the armoured blonde who he gives a brief nod to by way of interim greeting. Pursing his lips as he looks thoughtfully at Raener, the bard can't help but grin as Silver and Locky both call dibs on rooms of their own, but he smiles in agreement with Asa when the sorceress asks for a vote, saying,'

*Sigh - not much apparently.
You notice the neighborhood is upscale. Not super wealthy, but all your neighbors are the kind that employ maids and cooks and so forth. The building is obviously run down, but from what you can see it doesn't appear to be anything that a good cleaning and some simple repairs couldn't fix.
"Three yays, and I believe Silver's makes four, so the math seems a lock... but what do YOU think, Asa? I think a place to call home might not be such a bad idea... especially with the right people to share it with."
As I said when I called for the vote, I'm all for it. But we may need to do some remodeling, unless you and Silver are going to share a room.
No sooner does the party finish voting than tiefling in very find clothing enters the building and looks around with clear distaste.
"Ahh, right on time." remarks Renaer
Seeing Renaer, the tiefling says, "This is most unusual, sir! Magistrates don't make house calls."
"They do for an extra 25 gold evidently," Renaer quips back as he walks to the table where everyone sans Vassa is seated. "Gang, this here is Magistrate Kylynne Silmerhelve. Magistrate Silmerhelve will witnesses the transfer of the deed, rendering your new ownership official. Volo, if you would?"
Volo holds up the deed. Shows the front and back of it, points to the name and address at the top and the notarized seal at the bottom, and then passes it to Asariel.
"The deed to Trollskull Manor has been fully and legally transferred to this unnamed group of adventurers and witnessed by my own eye," intones Magistrate Silmerhelve in a very bored voice. With that the magistrate turns to Renaer who is already holding out a coin pouch. Magistrate Silmerhelve take the coin pouch, spins on his heels and walks back out of the manor without another word.
"Congrats on your new building. I'm sure you all have a lot of questions for good ol' Volo here but I need to get going so I want to take a moment and introduce you all to an associate of mine." Renaer beckons to the lady in armor still standing near the wall, "This is Phaedra Starcaller. She is a member of the Harpers, as am I. Phaedra was summoned to Waterdeep to help investigate the goings on between the gangs but I think you all have pretty much uncovered the motive in the process of rescuing Floon and I. Perhaps you all can help put a stop to it? Anyway, I must be leaving. Some of my men will be by soon to drop off the items you recovered at the warehouse. Good luck to you all. If I can ever help in any way, let me know." And with that Renaer saunters out of the manor and down the street.

Vassa will ensure that he shakes Raener's hand before the noble leaves. Then, at the introduction to Phaedra, the violet-eyed bard smiles in a friendly fashion and offers a hand in greeting, saying with a wink at the end,'
"A member of the famed Harpers? A pleasure to meet you, Phaedra. Welcome to our new home. I'd apologise for the mess, but well... you know."

Phaedra nods to Raener as he leaves the house, then she steps forward towards the group as they look over the plans, her scale mail making a soft cascading sound like a small brook. Her long blond hairs shifts as if blown by a wind and her pale blue eyes shift over each of those present before resting on Vassa. A smile runs across her face as she address’ the bard,
“As kind Raener has said, I am Phaedra Starcaller, humble servant of Mystra, Mother of All Magic and yes, I am a member of the famed Harpers. It is a pleasure to make your aquatence, I hope that I can be of assistance. From what I have been told by Raener you have already had a run in with some of the more shadowy groups within Waterdeep. I believe that my skills could be of use to you all, in a number of ways”she adds as she glances back at Lif.
Silver just blinks as he stares and takes in everything that is happening - keeping his cool as a magistrate showed up. He just gave a small smirk 'if only she knew the lot standing in front of her' was all he could think. When it hits him that a member of the Harpers is going them he just shrugs"Pleasure to meet you Starcaller. I'm Silver."his hand extends in a greeting towards the newcomer.
Kestrell accepts the gold and copper from Vassa. "Thanks. I think we could have taken that mind flayer for what it's worth."
Kestrell looks around the manor: "Interesting, very interesting. Well, remodeling is probably in order, yes. Although, I don't need a permanent room, as eventually I'll be returning to my beloved forest where it is quieter, and I can actually hit what I shoot at. Oh, and we should make sure that we know about the sewer entrances that I'm sure are in the basement of this place."
Kestrell looks around for the poltergeist: "Lif? Are you there? Can you pour us a cold one?"
Then turns to Phaedra. "Hi Phaedra Starcaller, I'm Kestrell Rangerson, most recently from the sewers. What are the Harpers? I haven't heard of them. Shoot! I forgot to ask Volo again. Maybe you know - have you heard of a cobbler called Whites somewhere around here?"
Phaedra shakes Silver's hand with a smile,"It is good to meet you as well Silver,"the she turns her attention to Kestrell, "as it is good to meet you Kestrell Rangerson. The Harpers, well, we are a group that works towards keeping evil at bay. To make sure they do not gain the upper hand and spread oppression through the land. You can understand why we are interested in what is happening here in Waterdeep, especially when it involves the Zhentarim."
She pauses for a second, "A cobbler called Whites. No I can not help you with that. I am new to the city, my home is south of here, in Elturel, the capital of the kingdom of Elturgard. I, well" she looks over at the plans for the house "I was told I would be staying with you. But I understand if this imposes, I am more than happy to return to my lodgings at the temple and join you later..."she lets her words trail off.

"While it may seem a foregone conclussion, Asa has the right of it, lads. So... who is a 'yay' and who is a 'nay'?"

"I'm totally for it. I've been wanting a place were I could study and practice in peace." says Aenio.
Kestrell shakes his head, "This is tough. I'd rather not have more strings tying me to a city but how do you say no to an ownership stake in a home with it's own tavern? I vote yes."
"Lockbox votes yes."

While he awaits the already assured verdict in his own mind, Vassa is studying the building's state of disrepair and will also examine the poltergeist as he approaches it with a smile and both hands held out disarmingly to say,'
"While the votes aren't in just yet, I think it likely that we will soon be house mates, Lif. And possibly business partners, as the case may be. I am Vassa Sunstar and it is a genuine pleasure to make your acquaintance, my good... man."

"Three yays, and I believe Silver's makes four, so the math seems a lock... but what do YOU think, Asa? I think a place to call home might not be such a bad idea... especially with the right people to share it with."

You notice the neighborhood is upscale. Not super wealthy, but all your neighbors are the kind that employ maids and cooks and so forth. The building is obviously run down, but from what you can see it doesn't appear to be anything that a good cleaning and some simple repairs couldn't fix.

I believe that my skills could be of use to you all, in a number of ways” she adds as she glances back at Lif.

Silver just blinks as he stares and takes in everything that is happening - keeping his cool as a magistrate showed up. He just gave a small smirk 'if only she knew the lot standing in front of her' was all he could think.
Phaedra shakes Silver's hand with a smile, "It is good to meet you as well Silver," the she turns her attention to Kestrell, "as it is good to meet you Kestrell Rangerson.
But I understand if this imposes, I am more than happy to return to my lodgings at the temple and join you later..." she lets her words trail off.
