"Well you see, there is this old lady who owns a bookshop or somekind of shop. She had been chased out and her poor little cat was stuck in inside. She was a little crazy but she was saying that some evil creature had taken up in her shop and that it had tried to kill her."
Phaedra sits down cross legged on the table next to the gazer head.
"Now I, being the defender of the downtrodden that I am, believe the old lady when no one else did. There was something in her crazy eyes....and I just did not have the time to make it back here to get you guys. Her cat could have been in danger, let alone anyone that went inside the shop!
So I snuck into her shop better than even our goliath friend could have. The ground floor was deserted, so I slowly made my way up the creaking stairs to the first floor, one creaking step at a time... but it was also deserted.... then BAAM!!!!!" The cleric slams her open hand on the table to make a loud clash. "This creature jumped out at me, hissing... but to my relief it was just her cat, looking tired and underfed.
But in that moment when I had my guard down, the cat hissed and ran off. I looked up to see what had frightened it and there...looming infront of me was this creature" she points at the head. "Floating in mid air it was, big beedy eye fixed on me with an evil look about it. I was about to say something but I did not even get the chance before beams started to fire from its little stalk eyes, whizzing past me every which way. I ducked and I dodge." Phaedra jumps up and weaves like she is avoiding invisible beams. "beams exploded off the wall and the handrail of the steps. And then one hit me right here" she slaps her chest, "and pain and a weakness came over me. I could not even hold my mace any longer for I felt so weak from its magic, so I dropped it to the ground as I hit me knees.
Looking up at the evil beholder as it floated towards me with its toothy mouth open, a tear in my eye, I prayed to her Most Honorable Mother of All Magic, Mystra, to aide her humble servant in my time of need. Holding up my hand, I spoke the arcane words of prayer that I had been tough just as the beast swooped in towards me and fired my own magic bolts of arcane energy at it. All three missiles struck its head and the creature dropped dead to the ground, with only one final giver of life!"
Phaedra holds her hand up high, pointing it at the group. Suddenly three magical missiles appear in the air infront of Kestrell, but they hang in mid air instead of moving. (Cast Minor Illusion). Then with a click of her fingers they disappear.
"Haaa. So how good was that story, though its all real. Really real. Vassa eat your heart out! Kestrell, above the bar with it if you would. And the drinks are on me!"
"I fear you are correct. My actions have been brash. I will see if I can find out anything about him now that we know who he is, and get info on the ship and ship captain."
He turns to Phaedra "that was a great story. I hope to hear more stories like this in the future"
He turns and heads for the door "thanks for the coffee!" he yells out as he disappears out the door.

Vassa joins others in applauding Phaedra's tale. "Not bad at all. With some training you'd make a great bard. Perhaps I should consider taking an apprentice?"
After sitting quietly for a moment and seeing Elon leave Vassa stands, "I believe young Elon has the right of it. I will go shake some trees as well and see what I can learn. Oh but I hate dealing with family." And with that he heads for the door.
Kestrell winces at the magic missiles that appear in front of him. "Oh Phaedra, what a fantastic story! Thank the gods you weren't hurt more. Yes, let's put it up above the bar."
Kestrell pauses and thinks, then continues: "Why was there a beholder in this woman's bookshop? Do we need to investigate further?"
Silver just smiles applauding the story "Good accomplishment and I like you trophy." he just puts his feet up leaning back as Elon speaks "That would probably be for the best. I'll reach out to my contacts as well and see if we can't gather more information."
His attention turns to Selinae "We do have two people who have been assaulted by this individual - unfortunately our word doesn't go to far since we are half-drow. This is also the very reason that he tried to kill us as he admitted in undercommon last night. I'm sorry if Waterdeep isn't living up to its expectations of justice, but the code legal is a joke and the city watch couldn't pull it's head out of its ass to enforce it - trust me I've seen their competency in these matters. The other reason we let him go was because of the second threat he made to slaughter everyone in that bar starting with us. I would like to avoid unnecessary blood shed and the premature ending of my life, I have plenty of things I still wish to accomplish."
"There's no way he could have killed us all, is there? How tough is this guy?"
" He's tough. But no he certainly would have lost that fight, though I'm not sure all would have survived."
" When we tussled last night he definetely hit pretty hard, but I hurt him...not enough to slow him down when he ran off but I'd say four or five of us would easily capture him assuming one of us can heal."
" You've had some bad run ins with the Watch, I get that. They're not overly fond of sailors either. I mean I've lived here my whole life and they've never been a bother really when I've gone to fetch crewmates that were locked up for brawling and they were very nice last year when Mums begonias went missing....though Mums a bit of a looker so that may have helped...".
" I still think its worthwhile sending a missive to his captain, they're skulking and the last thing folks with something to hide want is a bunch of moron plodders flipping over random stones."
" Or we can just wait til he murders some kid.....up to you.", Selinae said frowning, maybe she'd have better luck doing this through the dock crew enough of them had elven or half-elven family that they'd at least want to do something.....
" Ok, then. Well, I''m going to go chat to some people I know. Bye."
"Yes, hopefully. We should check on her tomorrow."
"Back to what Serina, no Sarah? No, Sel... Whatever. Back to what she was saying. Do you think the Captain could be in on it? Would it do any good to tell this killer's Captain?"
"Her name is Uza Solizeph and her book shop is a narrow three-story building on Sorn Street in the Trades Ward. We can check on her tomorrow but if you are so included tell her that you are checking on her on my behalf.
So what about this Capitan then? Selinae?"

Before you know it, the morning has passed and it's now early afternoon. Construction on the manor is continuing. The place really fells like it's coming together.
Silver, Phaedra, and Kestrell are still at the manor.
Vassa, Elon, and Selinae have yet to return.
Are you all heading to the Portal? Waiting on nightfall? Something else in mind?
"Phaedra, while we wait for the second phase of the plan tonight, let's go back to your beholder lady and make sure she's doing fine. Maybe we will get lucky and there will be another one!"
When the three of you get there you find that Selinae is already there. Uza and Selinae are sitting at a table on the first floor. Uza is pouring tea into some cups on the table when you all walk in. "Oh more visitors! Come in, come in. Would you all like some tea?"
"Hey! We messed up, simple as that. Now, everyone shut up while Phaedra tells us how she killed a beholder. I'm thirsty already."

Selinae began outright clapping as Phaedra finished her story and show, a look of child-like wonder on her face.
" That was Awesome!"
" Can I get your autograph?", after a couple of seconds of searching she held out a rather beleaguered looking tinderbox and a dagger.
Elon gives a quit applause then turns to Silver,
