"Scallywag I know it's been a while but that was pathetic," Dog says gruffly, rising from the dirt. He looks up.
"I am mainly security - we haven't done our lion taming routine for a while," Dog says sheepishly to the guards. "Listen, we can either be bait outside your walls or hidden inside, and help defend it if need be."
"Myon, up, speak," Keyrie gives the cue for Myon to stand and roar. "When all this is over we can give you a real show but right now we would really like inside the walls. If the fiends attack, we can help defend much better from inside. We also have a woman and child traveling with us, so please let us inside."

(Looks like we are going to be fighting outside the walls unfortunately)
Gash conjures a rather large mortar firework with minor conjuration. He directs it away from the castle into the sky above. Then he mumbles ”I can’t believe I’m doing this...”
As he casts flaming sphere high into the sky he commands the sphere to crash into the dirt below lighting the wick of the firework creating a brightly colored overhead display
The second guard claps at the lion bellowing on his hind legs.
The first twists his mouth up in consternation. "I have the impression you aren't giving us your best," he says, leaning on the wall and tipping his helmet out of his eyes. At Gash's display, he says, "Yeah, yeah. We saw from you already. How about that guy driving the carriage?"
Feytok stands in the driver's seat and draws a long, thin dagger from his belt. He lights it aflame with a little oil and a snap of his fingers. Then, he tips his head back and inserts the flaming blade straight down his esophagus. He let's go of the dagger, raising his hands in a flashy show, then unsheathes the dagger from his mouth. It is still lit and he blows the dagger out with a flourish.

The second guard gasps and cheers at Feytok's performance. The first nods, somewhat impressed. "Not bad," he says. "Got anyone else down there?"
Gentoa leans out of the opposite of the carriage that her mother is looking out from. Her eyes glow a bright, golden hue. "Hi," she says. A wave of golden magic in the form of intersecting geometric shapes pulses away from Gentoa as she speaks. Neventi, seeing her daughter leaning out of the carriage, grabs her and pulls her back in.
On the wall, the two guards stand, transfixed. Neither says anything. Silence falls across the meeting. A third figure appears on the wall. "What are you two louts doing?" says the third in a commanding voice. "Get this gate open. Didn't you hear the message? Fiends and demons are approaching the town."
The other two guards snap out of their reverie and look at the third figure. "Yes sir," they say in unison and the second guard begins turning a large wheel that swivels the gates open. The party enters the walled town of Tamsarus. it is much smaller than Karkarus, but fully established and well protected from the outside.
Dog pulls is horse up next to Genny on the cart as they begin to enter the cart. "Thank you, small one. You saved our bacon there. I didn't know you could do that, with the shapes. Had a question for you, actually, about dreams. I had one last night where I had to wrestle a mountain, or maybe a tower, that was threatening you all. It was a little scary. Do you ever have dreams?"
Gentoa smiles up at Dog. "Hi!" she says. Nothing happens and the girl furrows her brow. "Hi!" Again, nothing. She growls and stomps her foot.
Meanwhile, on the wall, guards run back and forth shouting and pointing to the north. A good many of them congregate on the northern wall while a pair of guards run up to the gates and begin bracing the gates.
"Have we... doomed this town?" Dog says to his adult companions after Genny doesn't respond about her dreams. That bout of fright of hers the night before has him spooked and he's wondering if she's seen something that's going to happen, or if she's being tracked somehow.
"I still don't know if they somehow know where Genny is at all times and we're being tracked no matter how subtle we're trying to be. Is there any way they're just trying to talk and get an answer out of Nev, and we can avoid a battle?"
He looks up at the walls, trying to see if there's a way he could get a look at what's coming. He suggests that Friend could sneak up and take a look. He also has another thought.
"Gash, I gave you that helm of teleportation, so it might be a good idea to familiarize yourself with it and think of some places you could get us to. You're the best wizard I know and you're going to be better at getting us out of here than any of us. We'd have to leave the horses but we might want to have the choice of leaving the town and being far away from here if this is what happens when we move around."
Gash puts his finger to his chin, "Well, we could go back to the circus or (i forgot how to spell her name i should take notes) Mernixa has those beds for us... maybe return to the temple in a few days. But yes good idea Dog. Any suggestions will be helpful maybe i can collect something from eaach place we want to come back to. Maybe that will make it easier to teleport?"
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
(I am going to assume that Gash attuned to the helmet over the last three days, since it takes an hour to attune to an item.)
The discussion is cut short by a barrage of shouting and whizzes of arrows. The shouting intensifies and a handful of squires haul more equipment to the top of the wall. Before the archers on the wall are ready for the next attack, three loud booms resound at the north gate. The archers pierce white, spongy blocks with their arrowheads and then light them with candles or lanterns. The next barrage of arrows loosed leave trails of smoke. The archers cheer at the result. Two loud booms resound at the gate and it cracks slightly.
Another barrage of arrows. The gates boom and crack again. It is a race against time, fiery arrows trying to fell the creature cracking open the gate. The gate gives first as a large clay fist punctures the top of the large gates. A second hand grips the sides of the hole as more arrows are loosed. A barrel or blazing hot oil brought from the nearest blacksmith sizzles over the clay golem. It pulls and strains against the heavy wooden gates until the large hinges break free from the stone and the gates fall. Less than a minute has passed and the city has been breached.
The golem bashes its way through the braces into the city. Dozens of arrows stick out of its head, chest, shoulders, back, and arms. After it crosses the threshold, more arrows loose from the gates, this time into the city. The golem stumbles. Two more arrows strike it in the head and it falls with a thundering crash onto Main Street. A raucous cheer erupts from the top of the wall.
The cheers are cut short by a deafening screech and the archers on the wall each nock another arrow, turning to see hordes of fiends on the neighboring hill. They charge, one of them taking flight as it assaults the city.
Some OOC questions... Do we see more fiends coming in behind these? Like it's obvious the town is getting overrun? Did the flying fiend seem familiar/similar to that Bael guy we met before? Also where are Nev and Genny - in the carriage, right? Is that "Fr" on the map?
The flying fiend is a Vrock and not like Bael at all. The town is definitely being overrun. There is another wave approaching in the distance and other demons have spilled through the gate that the archers are focusing on. This batch seem focused on you lot. Nev and Gentoa are in the carriage. Fr is Friend, Gash's owl.

Tock casts Bless on himself and and two people closest to him.
Which is...Keyrie and Gash unless you mean the lion.
The vrock flies over the rooftops, landing in front of Dog with a screech. It swipes and bites at him in rapid succession.
Talon Attack: 23 Damage: 13
Beak Attack: 7 Damage: 10
The abyssal wretches and the rutterkin trundle down the cobblestones towards the party.
(Dog, Gash, Feytok, Keyrie, and Myon are all up!)
Dog's reaction, if he can take it this round, is to cast Shield upon himself, which should make the attack miss (AC 20, shield +5 to AC for the turn).
Looking behind him and realizing he's the only thing between Nev and Genny and this terrifying fiend, he'll try to mash it with his new warhammer.
Attack: 17 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
He'll turn and say "if we can get out of here, we might want to. That was a big horde of fiends en route."
I think reaction isn't available until you've had your turn.
