The major domo sighs. "Of course not. We are merely the best one. You surely passed at least three of our competitors coming here. If you prefer something inexpensive, try The Crow's Nest."
"Sorry to be a bother." Gregory walks out of the room and heads to the Crow's Nest. (if it is approaching an hour, i will drop my form and reup it to use my last spell slot to remain the good looking human)
The Crow's Nest looks more like a rats' nest, reflecting the squalid conditions of this part of town. The metal roof is a cast-off from some kind of strange tank and has noticeable holes rusted through it. The sign for the establishment is graffitied across the wall and door, the latter of which appears to be scrap planks bound together on wire "hinges". The west wall is being supported by a tree limb that, judging by the ragged end, fell or was yanked off the tree rather than sawn off. A vagrant is asleep on a pile of dirty rags near the entrance. The glow of a pipe burns in the dim light. A man with a dwarven accent says, "How many are ya? Three....five...seven. That'd be...uh...5 silver for the night for the lot of ya. The animals stay outside. No meals." The proprietor draws on his pipe again.

The only place to tie of the horses are a couple of nearby trees. Myon lays down on the side of the structure and Friend perches on the rusting roof. The party are led into a big open room with 9 patrons already sacked out on the floor. It is a dirt floor with some old, but not yet moldy, hay that is mostly spoken for. Something moves along the wall. It could be an insect or a rodent, but it moves too quickly in the dark to tell.
"Find a spot," say the dwarf between puffs of his pipe. The loo is out back." Then he departs.

35% chance at attempted horse theft. If one is stolen, increased chances that others are as well. (1-35 indicates a theft occurred.) 82
Stones has a horrible night's sleep (one level of exhaustion). In the morning, he and Bulwark report that a thief attempted to steal one of the horses but it was scared away by Myon before the thief could get away successfully. They find Canterbury wandering free around the inn but otherwise unharmed.
After paying their fines at the courthouse (15 gold, please!), the party is ready to set out, unless they have any last minute business to take care of.
“Ugh, next time we stay at the nice inn. I’m not normally one for airs but I’m afraid I now have fleas.”Stones scratches himself and tries to flatten his fur wear it sticks up from his terrible night.

Dog pays the gold with no audible complaint. He's grim-faced through the whole night, and quiet, and doing his best to shield Genny from myriad hostel threats.
He advocates for leaving as soon as they're done, perhaps stopping by a provisioning store to gather some foodstuffs.
Once they clear the city limits, he sighs. "Well, next time we use the tiny hut, I should know enough to suggest places outside of towns. Thinking too much like a traveling circus worker. That could have been bad. Is everyone okay? Stones it looks like you didn't sleep at all, why don't you lie down in the carriage a bit. What a miserable night. I don't even know what we're doing anymore, other than getting Genny back to Nev. It's a worthy goal, but what's the point of the rest of it?"
He trudges along in silence for a while, looking at the horizon.
What does the land look like ahead? Are we seeing many travelers on the road now? He will use the winged boots every hour or two to fly up when they're not sharing the road with anyone to get a decent look at the land around them, what's on either side of the road, what's ahead, what's behind. He's getting tired of being ambushed, and also will look for good campsites. No more roach/luxury motels for him. He's also doing is best to make sure they're not being followed. When he heads up in the air to look around, he asks Bulwark if he can borrow the sentinel shield. (Perception: 17)
Tocksays, "I want to see the shrine in daylight, I'll catch up with you."
He will make his way to the shrine and will look for a way to make a donation (either straight money or he'll ask nearby people on how to make an appropriate donation).
It is late fall but feels like winter as the group leaves town. A bitter cold snap has struck the area leaving a thin frost on the plants and ground. Only the sounds of hooves and feet on the road accompany the party. Stones spends some time walking as it requires less energy than entertaining Gentoa in carriage but he cannot bring himself to sing or strum as he usually does. A dour mood settles on the party. It has been a long trek to Masa and the word is they still have a week to go. The exercise at least keeps them warm in the morning chill.
Before lunchtime, Friend calls out an alarm. The party stops while Gash and Dog see what the trouble is from up high. The report is grim.
"A small farm is under attack. Some kind of frost lizard and...an elephant?"
The farm is about 400 yards from the long road. The squeal of a dying animal pierces through the cold air.
"All I know is what I told you just now. Want me to fly closer and engage if it seems a fight worth our time, and you can follow if I don't return? And if I come back, then we can just move along? Someone should stay with Genny in the carriage. Gods I miss Neventi right now."
Dog will start to move in the direction of the farm, not going out of earshot until he hears confirmation from his friends. He hoists the javelin of lightning, ready to let fly. His flying speed is just normal walking speed so if someone did want to join, they would keep pace with him. He's just being... unorthodox.
Dog flies towards the farmm which takes him almost 2 minutes. His comrades are now nearly a quarter mile away.
Dog:
As Dog approaches the farm, he can start to make out sme of the commotion. A giant lizard-like thing is terrrorizing apen og pigs. The crops in at least two plots are coated in frost. The elephant is ripping pieces of the house apart. From inside, Dog hears a grown man crying out, "Please! We have done nothing to you!"
The elephant responds in perfect common, "I warned you to stay away. You would not listen!"
Through several of the windows, at least six...no eight...maybe more pairs of young eyes look on in fear.
Dog calls out, "That's enough! Stop destroying the house or you'll regret it!" and he hoists the javelin of lightning, crackles of energy pulsing down the shaft. "We're going to talk this over. I've never met a talking elephant, so humor me, and explain yourself, and your friend there who's freezing pigs and crops. Why are you doing that? We'll get to you in a moment," he says, looking over at the eyes peering out of the house. "I've had a heck of a week. You don't want to try me."
He'll ready his action to throw the javelin at the first sign of something he's not friends with preparing to attack anything. If he can line himself up so that the lizard and the elephant are in a line, great, but if not, that's fine.
Dog is still pretending to be a dumb servant, not talking much, but he coughs loudly when the elf says 38 gold for the night.
"Um, that seems steep for our simple group here... is this the only inn in town?" Gash inquires

(Did the circus ever have elephants?)

(I proceeded as if nobody followed!)
Dog:
The elephant turns its head and trumpets towards Dog, hanging in the sky. "This is not your business. Leave and keep your life!"
"Please, help us!" says the man inside the house. "At least my wife and 8 children! Don't let him harm the babies!"
Bulwark will turn to the group and say, "Resolved: Should you wish to follow Dog, I shall guard the child."
Stones sighs and says “For the children’s sake we should find out what’s going on”
(If he moves next Dog, how far away are the lizard and elephant?)
