"Assassin?" Neventi says. "What are you talking..no, never mind. No horses, running off on some other errand. If we aren't leaving, I'm going to go lay down."
Neventi gets to her feet and hands Gentoa to Dog. She briskly walks back into the inn without about word.
(OOC: thought we were out of earshot, but no worries. Nev is allowed to be sneaky :) Also I misread and thought we were in their room and not just talking about her while she's on the ground!)
Dog blinks in confusion as Nev puts the girl in his arms. He blurts out before she disappears, "we've got a place to get horses and will have provisions first thing tomorrow morning, and we can be on our way. You get rest, Neventi. All will be well soon."
He then blinks a few more times, and then tries to comfort Genny. He tries to motion the group into a sheltered place inside away from prying ears. To the rest of the group, he says, "sorry, I got a bit confused there. But I didn't say we should all go to sleep or take a big break. The assassin needs to be dealt with and we should find out what we can. I did say that someone should stay with Nev and Genny, since we can't bring them along for this errand. If no one else wants to do it, or if I'm the best person to do that, I will stay with them. But if not, I'd be delighted to pay the assassin a visit. They stole my meeting with Ritter. They deserve justice. Do you think Nev and Genny will be safe if we all go away for a few hours? I may not be thinking clearly. As I said, long day."
“I worry that she will leave without us, straight for the enemy. She is not stable. Someone needs to stay as both protector and watch dog. I think you may be a good candidate.” Martin shrugs.
Martin relates the directions from before that indicate the assassin is by a tailor’s near Griffin Street in the Stacks. (I think that’s right, it’s been a minute)
"Gash, your skills are particularly needed for a task like that -- taking on an assassins, sneaking around, looking for things, so if it's between you and I, I should stay with Nev and Genny."
"of course... We will be back before you know it, Dog. And just in case you need it..."Gash hands over the remove curse scroll, "I haven't had time to transcribe it. But if something strange happens or her health gets worse... tell Friend, try the scroll if you need to. I trust you."Gash takes out a dagger and scraps a piece of wood from the wooden fence keeping the horses in. "I'll have this too. Just in case."

Martin, Althus, Gash, Tock, and Bulwark set off for Griffon street. Darkness has fallen over the city, moreso than most evenings as cloud cover has stamped out the starlight. A chill breeze whips up every so often, quickening their steps.

Meanwhile, Dog entertains Gentoa for a while in the parlor of the inn, eventually telling her stories until she falls asleep in his lap. He sits for a while, pleasantly trapped, enjoying the warmth of a well-tended fire.
The five adventurers find the building described by Martin. The bottom floor is a fabric shop but the owner, still closing up for the night, says she rents out the room upstairs to a quiet half-elf. Knocking on the door upstairs produces no answer.
(can we do this without the spoiler tags so rkmobious can follow the action as well? :) )
Tockis taken aback and whispers, "Wait, we came here to do what? We just knocked on the door of a known assassin with a large group of us here all together? What's the plan?"
(Yes, we can do this without spoilers. You would need to climb onto the roof to find out if there is a window. There is no way to know from inside or from the ground. Sorry, You need not have knocked! You could have also just listened and heard nobody inside.)
Dog will ask any friendly-looking staff at the inn (Balilea?) where they would recommend getting horses and a cart to transport a group of around 7 people. He had forgotten that the Wheat and Mane were an inn and STABLES, and that he'd seen Nev happily riding a horse when they first visited. If it is Balilea, he'll mention that Miss Drahm is eager to get on the road, and while they're looking at other stables to buy transport, perhaps the Wheat and Mane have something for sale that could be arranged.
He's starting to wonder if he can play to stereotypes and buy a girl a chestnut filly to make her happy. He doesn't know why he didn't think of this before.
